No pics, but a friend of mine has white walls with a Ford Blue stripe, about 1' wide, about 4' up. Seems to be "just enough."

Gloss paint will show every little minor imperfection in the wall, so unless you have a level of finish on your walls that matches what most home interiors have, I would recommend against it.

Personally I'd go with an eggshell finish. It will hide imperfections but hold up better than a true flat paint. If you must you could push it to semi-gloss which would help with cleanup, but you'll have to accept seeking the imperfections a bit more.

As to paint schemes, this really depends upon a lot of factors. Do you have existing cabinets? Do you have an epoxy floor? Do you have plans to incorporate signage or a favorite logo anywhere?

I personally like a light shade of gray for garages and shops because it is light enough to keep things bright, but dark enough to hide scuffs like you would get with white walls. I also am a fan of the Gladiator cabinets, so light gray matches them very well, and it would go well with a gray epoxy floor. I've also thought about incorporating some corrugated tin for the bottom part of the wall (sort of an industrial wainscotting) and gray would go well with it also.

I'm not a big fan of stripes just because unless they were up very high they would be hidden by cabinets and things I put on the wall. They are also a lot of work when you are talking about a 3+ car garage, but sometimes they look nice in the right situation if they pick up an accent color. You see a lot of Harley guys use black and orange stripes because they pick up those colors in their signs and posters etc.

Now if you were the type who has a cherished red car along with a red motorcycle, then maybe you would want to pick up that red color in your accent stripe. Honestly you are only limited by your imagination, but I'd look at the things you can't paint and then match your colors to those. For instance if you have garage doors that are tan on the inside and have no plans to paint them, maybe you could work off of those as your starting point.

Here is what I went with.

Off-white on top to hide dirt, blue is a current Phillies uniform color, Maroon and baby blue stripes are vintage Phillies colors.

Mine is an exception to the popular service-bay-stripe look.

In fact, Duke's avocado fridge would probably fit into it just fine.

My colors are green, yellow and tan. I was going for a vintage shop kind of look.

Here's a pic to give the idea of my color scheme. Excuse the mess. I'm still inteh process of organizing my garage so I can get back to work on my car project. Which was the reason of building the garage in the first place. Here's a link to some more pics. I stillneed to take some of the outside in the daylight.

Jack, I didn't know you were on GJ too!! I haven't been on Pelican forever, but I can't even tell you how many times I've drooled over your car.

One side is basically dark gray, while the other side is a mixture of black and dark gray.

One I pour a new floor on the grage side, I think I'm going to paint the upper (4' and up) white for better light reflection. Maybe even get the ceiling done, since everything would be pretty much out of the garage at the time.

My pic is horrible and I'll be wrapping up the transformation this weekend, but I decided to go with Gulf Colors. I love the gulf colored porsche race cars from the 1970s and my orange 914-6 racecar will look great inside.

Dirty lens. Those pics weren't taken at the same time. I was doing some bodywork out in the garage last winter and had the camera out there.

Thanks for the reminder,I've been wanting to clean that lens but kept forgetting.

I'm just getting started on my basement garage. We've been putting up slatwall the last few days and I'm hoping to get started on painting soon, but the weather here has been a little too cold for painting lately.

Here it is unpainted as it is right now and then a hastily edited version showing what I hope to accomplish.

The orange will be more of a darker copper color in real life.

If we can get a few warmer days in the next week or two I might be able to pull it off and get some real pictures up.
