A fairly standard toggle switch should do the trick. It's a common part. The bat style should do fine as long as the amperage rating is up to the load.

It it's the rectangle plastic style, it's not real common.

I haven't done anything with the eye guards yet, as I'm debating on if I should save them or replace them. Odds are even if I replace them (for what is used) I will save them in case I upgrade and sell this in the future.
Edited to add the Colors used: Rustoleum Hammered Light Blue with Rustoleum Iridescent Pearl All in One Paint and Primer (but over top of a base coat of Rustoleum Flat White since the Pearl doesn't cover for ****!!!!)

I looked at one of mine and the mounting is a standard toggle switch hole, you would want to match whatever back side terminal connections are used, other than that, its not difficult to find these switches. Hardware stores (Think ACE) , Automotive stores (Think NAPA) even some big box stores have them.

that turned out great. the color is awesome.
The rectangle hole is 3/4 x 1-3/8, I have only found one and it's not too pretty. If anyone finds an aesthetically pleasing motor rated switch for that size hole, please link me to it or provide a part number/location. I need one for the commercial grinder I redid for my potna a while back.

. The seller was looking for $25 until I pointed out the missing/broken piece on the right wheel. I've been looking for a 1/2 HP one for awhile. Runs as smooth as silk. This was a no brainer for me.

I've been watching this 3/4 hp 6.0 amp for about a month on CL. It started at $200. and I took it home for $80 this last Saturday. It's missing the light and quench tray but otherwise in great shape with almost new looking C-man wheels. So far, I have shortened the riser 9" and filled the base with concrete.
The seller also had a vintage Delta/Milwaukee table saw / Jointer combo for $50. that I almost brought home but already have enough wood equipment.

I appreciate all the input. I had checked RadioShack and was disappointed that they had no motor rated switches. I managed to find one that works at Home Depot.

Yeah, RS seems to have re-invented themselves as a cell phone retailer, at least the last few times I bothered going in. It's a shame, as it's hard to fins some of the items they used to provide routinely locally. on line for that these days.

Gardner Bender GSW-121 heavy duty toggle switch. Home Depot sku 218779 and amazon both have it for $4.49.

You sort of missed my point. While you can get virtually anything on line, having a local brick and mortar like the old RS made it so you could just go get the missing part and not have to wait for it to come in the mail, and not have to worry about lengthy return issues if it was the wrong part shipped.
It's called instant gratification, and that's what is fast disappearing in the consumer world for anything not mass marketed.

Thanks for the reminder, I used to deal with them all the time but it's been years as you can tell by the old 2011 catalog
... Anyway, I would like a walk in store to stock parts like these but as long as I can find what I need, ordering on line is not as bad as not being able to find one at all...Now I just to find the switch that fits the rectangle hole in mine and my buddies grinders.

Then, because GJ is a bad influence and because I always wanted one with a stand, I couldn't pass up the 1/2hp for around $50.

I dont know, but I'm assuming so. The holes line up perfectly and they are the same vintage. The guy I bought it from got it from a relative's house or something, so he didn't know if it was all bought together or not.

Picked up #2 today. It's missing the covers & eye shields, but the front plate is in perfect condition, which solves the earlier problem.

I took a nice trip south into mid-Ohio farm country today to pick up a light duty Block grinder. $35.00
It's missing the eye shields and needs a new wire wheel and stone. But it came with a stand I haven't seen until post #548 above.

I have a 3/4 hp block grinder that I found when cleaning out junk at work. The old timers here said it was taken out of service about 15 years ago because it was slow to start. I took it home and plugged it in and it hummed until I touched the wheel and then it started working. I has run good for about 6 months until last night, when it did that slow start or hummed a couple of times. When it starts it runs good, but if I have to bump start the wheel it hums and runs at partial power. Does anyone know if that is a capacitor and if so where you can locate one?

Yep, sounds like a cap issue. It should be located under the bottom sheet metal cover. Set the grinder on it's back and remove the bottom sheet metal inside the base. Grainger or the like should carry the cap. Good find though.
There was a NOS still in box on our craigslist for a few days for ~$150 grinder only. I posted it in the craigslist deals thread. The ad has now been deleted, so I guess it sold?
