To me, things on a shelf have no value. So I just increased it's value exponentially.

Thanks for the pics Bill!More?

I think my post was one of those where the nuances are lost on the internet, I was trying to make a joke.
Reminds me of a hot wheels car convention where they had a room dedicated to opening your hot wheels cars instead of keeping them in the package.![]()
Thanks for the pics Bill!
Are you keeping it safe and close by? Is that why it's on the bed? -Just kidding.
Cute kitten.
Say, can you do a favor for me?
For shipping these Blocks around the country, it would be handy to know the specifics of the carton, like:
- weight with grinder
- outside dimensions (L x W x H)
- thickness of the folded packing (looks like 3-'ply' cardboard)
- thickness, specifics of bottom and top packing
- carton wall thickness
- what the scotch-brite pad is used to cushion
And the specifics of the Block, like:
- weight
- dimensions (L x W x H)
- special conditions, precautions need to pack all items
Thank you and again, congratulations!
Mike
TheMike,
The Scotch-brite pad hides my address, so prying eyes don't come over when I'm not home, and take all my blocks! Bill
resembles that remark. My 1/2 HP flat top is getting some love. Same as my other 1/2HP on the tin. Rustoleum Metallic Silver with Rustoleum Crystal Clear. It's a shame about the label, but I cleaned it up best I could.
I used the Hillman's a while back and they fit very nicely. The problem is trying to find 4 of them at the same store, let alone in the same drawer. I had to dig and dig through a couple of drawers to find 4 of them.
You really DID get me thinking about it. Perhaps too deeply.
It was a difficult decision.
Now, if we could just scare up another one...
It's a sickness.
And it occurs to me that I am being hypocritical. I can't possibly use all the grinders that I have, so I am being just like the collectors I disdain.
I don't know why, but I'd still like a 3/4 HP.
Bill

Dust Covers......
Now that I have a nice new block, I want to keep it that way.
Anyone rig up a cover for theirs, to keep the dust off of it?
Could just use the box it came in and see if it fits to turn it over onto it, or find another that does.
What else?
Some kind of a loose drawstring bag?
Starting to feel a little OCD about it.
I at least want some kind of covers for the plastic eye shield lenses......lens cozies?
OMG...I've lost it...
Bill
You did the right thing. It's a Block Grinder, not a Fabergé egg! It's meant to be used. You mentioned that 1HP is scary. Like tear your arm off scary?![]()
An old pillow case would work. A plastic bag could trap moisture in a garage setting. Same with a cardboard box, I would think. You want something that can breath a little.
Wife: Honey, where are all our pillowcases?
Husband: Gee, sweetie, I don't know........![]()

BCZ:thanks for sharing your entire process of buying and setting up your brand new 30 year old 1 HP block grinder. as i mentioned before you should make it your designated buffer with all that power and that will help keep the **** and water off of it. also make a Plywood cover with maybe a few cloth covered vent holes on the end and paint on it DO NOT TOUCH.
I figured it'd be 'Honey, why is there a grinder in the bed?'
Here's one clever guy's idea to catch the grinder 'dust' exiting the exhaust ports on a CM grinder. Vacuum cleaner bags!Dust Covers......

I'll need to do that right now!TM:so now that GJ is on the official block watch throughout the US do we cross BCZ off the top of the list?

I'm going to see if we have some bags left from discarded vacuums, and give this idea a try.
I am also getting better at finding these - even though I am probably not buying any more. As long as I already set up the notifications I'll post hoping someone else can benefit.

Hi, What software do you use to search CL Country-wide and deliver notifications to you?

Near Rochester NY
This one is in the lower Finger Lakes region - Springwater. I have had several 'text' messages with the seller. I asked her to hold it and I'd send her PayPal. She is not comfortable with PayPal 'cash in hand'. This one is fairly far off the route to my brother's house. I'd like this one for the eye shields the rest is up for grabs, should it still be there when I get to CNY (I will send it to you, PM me to discuss details).
