Home made stand. $80 is a little rich, but it's all there and a 1/2 HP. :D

folks those that replaced the cord on the grinder, what did you replace the cord strain relief with, the factory one ends up not fitting in the frame hole, due to new cord being thicker than the old factory cord

You are on the list.

Trouble is, they are few and far between. :dunno:

Torqueman -

Ok, maybe I should lower my expectations a bit? Please feel free to pm me if you find a nice 1/2 hp model. Something in good shape and ready to run. I may pick one up to restore later, but for now, looking for one that's ready to go.

Also, prefer an older model with more metal/glass than plastic. Something 60's vintage? Prefer 8" wheels, but could do 6" or 7" too. Will spend up to $200 (maybe a bit more?) for a nice one.

Thanks!

Bulletproof: i haven't seen any 3/4 or 1hp blocks in my 4 state area since TM started this nation or worldwide search program for them. i would think a 1/2 HP commercial one would serve you well unless you really need the power. if i do happen to find a nice one before you return from your duties in South Korea i'll give you a shot to buy it. I'll also let you swap spots with me on the list if Tedsters doesn't mind if it might make a difference too.

don't you normally live in Alabama so if one of our members found one they could ship to your home instead of South Korea?

I really don't NEED the power; kind of like my cars -- I don't need the 500 hp 428 in my 66 Fairlane convt. cruiser, but I prefer it to a 289... Having said that, if it's going to take forever to find a 3/4 or 1 hp block, I'm fine with a nice 1/2 hp model. Nice stand would be great, too.

I'm from Louisiana (Slidell/Pearl River), but no more family there. Relatives are in Birmingham and Hoover LA as well as Katy, TX (near Houston). Easy to ship there and they can store for me until I return to the states in 8 months.

Also easy to ship to me in Korea -- as long as you can ship USPS it will get to me. The APO zip code is just like shipping to California; the US Post Office gets it to the Left Coast and the military mail system takes it from there. Takes a bit of time, but cost is same as shipping to California and no extra paperwork to do, either.

Thanks!

My old stomping grounds :D I have a square top 1/2hp that I may be willing to separate with. It's in the middle of a repop right now so color choice is still available, plus I'm right here in Louisiana and can either hold it for you to pick up or ship. ;)

Yeah, Baton Rouge is my old stomping grounds, too. I'm an LSU grad - best 7 years of my life! Sending you a pm.

I brought home a very nice 1/3 HP Block m-397.19581 and CM stand today.

The stand is the nicest one I have seen; I've PM'd bulletpruf to see if he is interested. I'll let him post POV pictures of it. :shocking:

For now, the pics of the grinder will have to do.
[The grinder is for one of my nephews - Huey, Dewey, and Louie].

Not sure how to interpret this date code.

Another wood-grinder!! :shocking:

It is a very nice little guy, but it has some warts.

The spark arrester is bent nearly 90* to allow mounting of the broken RH eye shield.

The 4 rubber isolator feet are there. But the front 2 each came off with a piece of the grinder base. I'll use metal epoxy to secure them.

TM: nice find and sounds like you already have it restored completely in your mind. good luck and thanks for the humor along with your block pics.

Gilbo: nice work. looks like new now. how's it run and did you keep the knife wheel for when needed?

yea i was lucky, the grinder purrs like a kitten, so i didnt have to do a thing mechanically, well only thing i had to do was swap out the power cord since it was cut, all the work done was cosmetic.

i kept the wheel just in case

Thanks, Torqueman! Now I just need to find a nice 1/2 hp (or 3/4 or 1 hp) block for it!

This morning's swap meet find, twin 397.19440's. Both run great and the stones ring true. The one on the right is missing the wheel collets and neither had the quench tray but I can't complain, the seller was asking $10 each.

You remember the big whirlpool in the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Yup, we're talking that kind of suckage.
