Looking for someone going thru Mansfield ohio to Michigan need a Block Grinder picked up will help with gas i am 35 miles west of Grand Rapids
^is there a 3/4hp one in that mix?
Nice stash. Forgive my ignorance, but what are those large clamps for? And how about those Drill bit sharpeners? Are they hard to come by?
Dang Blue you got a nice little stash going there. I am stilling watching CL for my first one.
i was searching vintage machinery for some background on a an old B&D i have and came across this belsaw besides some extra supports on the sides this thing looks a lot like a Craftsman Block Grinder
That grinder looks to be in great shape, but it's terrifyingly overpriced.
That was a sharpening rig someone repurposed. If you look at my grinder above without shields it looks the same.
So it is a CM with a belsaw sticker ain't it
hat!

Merry Blockmas everyone. I got lucky with some good weather today (well, good for Cleveland in December) and had a chance to get my Vimco lamp cleaned up and installed on my 397.19670. It still amazes me how well built these grinders were back in the day, especially compared to the stuff you can get today. I started stripping back some of the old paint, noticed that the fittings were all brass, and decided to polish this lamp up. Other than the shade, I just clear coated everything. Here is a close-up of the lamp.

And here it is halfway through Phase 3. I still need to paint the motor halves and the wheel guards. This thing runs great, by the way, and is a lot of fun to use.

I like how the brass lamp socket ties in with the nameplate and the multitool. I also like how the bare metal (with clear coat) gooseneck ties in with the gray paint. There was a question about painting goosenecks a couple of pages back and I think I like the naked look.

I also replaced my workmate tops with a modified rear "jaw top". It's about twice as wide as the original. If you look closely, you can see where I measured once and cut twice with some bolt holes. Oh well, I'll probably end up running a saw through them at some point anyway.
Oh, and here is the "before" pic just for fun.

Belsaw used the bock grinder for a time as the basis for their sharpeners. I think I've seen them both with and without Craftsman on them so possibly they sold the sharpeners as an attachment.
that my friend is an awesome grinder and you did a very nice job on it
Then finish up with the paint and use the heck out of it.Merry Blockmas everyone. Complete and very clean 1/3hp round top in western ohio.

Yeah Sacramento is a little way. I am located on the central coast, about 2.5 hours north of LA. Came across this one about 1.5 hours away but price seems steep

For just the grinder it would be, BUT it has the stand, and those are generally worth $100 by themselves. Call and see what HP is is. Photo massaging it I could get that it was crown top, but nothing legible. You can always make an offer...
Merry Christmas everyone! My father began working on the grinder he picked up earlier this week, not done yet, but here is a quick pic he sent me.
Looking very nice! Can't wait to see the finished product. By the way, looks like a good sized Wilton back there and what kind of buffer is that? Maybe a Wissota?

if i was you i think i would ask the seller to send you a full view pic and it has a desirable light and the large eye shields that is not a 6inch grinder thats a 7inch rear exhaust i can tell by the eye shields and side covers over the wheels, i would be all over it call and ask if he could take less and ask him if it has the rear exhaust ports out the back of the wheel guards
plus it looks to have the cast iron pedestal
