Yeah its a 1HP. This will actually be my second one. i bought another from a guy out on long island a while back. Basically NOS. Looked like it was never used. Not a single scratch on it. I paid $150 for that one only because it was in such beautiful condition. And I figured I would never find another 1HP. Im real happy I found this one, especially with the stand. And its only about 20 min from my house.

I have already contacted everyone on the Want/Wish List and received passes, or no replies.

Anyone interested in a wide track 1-HP?

"Craftsman Industrial 8"x1"x5/8" electric grinder model 257.192190 from the 1980s.

Complete-not missing any parts-overall excellent condition.

Exhaust guards, dual voltage, fully adjustable 2-PC tool rests, all shields/guards, removable quench tray, rubber isolator feet, lamp with separate switch (can be rewired to turn on with grinder), original A36 & A60 wheels with very little wear, note the wide 15-1/4" space between wheels, .... .

Ball bearings replaced a year ago with USA made NSKs."

This is not mine, but I am helping sell it for an acquaintance through OWWM.

Heck, get the lath out of the way adn leave the top you couldprobably do three!

That 2 post base was original for the big 6" Jointer/planer and is a Craftsman base.

Could you use this base for 2 grinders?

In the Sears catelogs, they usually have a 4" joiner on those two legged ones. Nothing like have having a top heavy tool with sharp spinning blades in the shop. I would think that two grinders would be a much safer option.

Those two post stands are too short as-is for grinder stands, the pipes are several inches shorter than a grinder stand and the grinder stands are short to begin with imo. You can swap out the pipes but I would rather two separate stands instead of one awkward one with two top heavy grinders on it.

I missed one earlier this week to another member. Saw this on CL for $85 but no phone listed. I didn't receive a response via email. Then I looked at the ad again and the seller changed it to $100 but still didn't add a phone number. So I searched eBay at it was on there listed as a 1/2 Hp with buy it now for $90. So I bought it.

Yes it is! 8 months and 7 grinders later, I think to find the 1HP complete with stand.

... Too bad what they did to that tool rest, but I imagine you can attach a new surface to it.
Yes, that makes me believe it was used to grind on the side of the stones, which are not designed for that use.

Some stones are OK, but not the ones that are used on the Blocks.

It's like using the stones to grind material other than ferrous metals, it's tempting and people do it and get away with it all the time. But it is dangerous and can have terrible, even fatal results.

A few months ago I picked up a 397.19400 1/4hp and a 397.19590 1/2hp. Little rough when I got them but I finally got them finished. ..
Sad part is that I made the 1/2hp to nice to use. ..[emoji25]
