I just picked up a couple salvaged copper cupolas. I think they will go great on my shop and looking at various size guides, there are the perfect size too. Only $150 each, I couldn't resist. I'll need to build bases for them and getting them up on the shop should be interesting. Not sure if I should make them vented or with windows, or maybe both. Anyway, I'm looking for design ideas for the bases. If you have a cupola on your shop or barn, post it up, or even cool ones you may have come across.

Yours are so much cooler than mine that I'm embarrassed to show it. Here is a 9 year old photo when my garage was first built. Still no weathervane.

Your welcome, but I might add yours deserves more than louvers. I wanted to have one with the glass panes so I could change the color of light in it for the time of year, but I could see kids going by on the elevated railroad tracks next to my garage trying to knock the panes out.

How big is your garage and the cupolas? You 100% need finials for those. Windows with a light is my favorite. But you need access to it for changing light I was thinking of a window that could remotely open like a skylight or such. If you’re not cutting a hole in your roof I’d just go wood slats with nice details. As the garage is plain this should be in line with that. Awesome find. One might be enough and you could sell the second one built. Big bucks

The ridge line is 52'. I think just one would be a bit too small. Most sizing guides say for on you should be 1.2"-1.6" for every foot of ridge. Stay on the larger size for taller buildings. For 2 cupolas you should be around .9"-1" per foot of ridge. These are 52" at the widest and 36" at the base, so I'm right in that .9"-1" per foot of ridge with these.

I have some dummy windows on a dormer on the house. I had power run up there to put a light in it. I could do the same with these, might be a nice touch.

Collar- Not to detract from the original thread but was the bumpout an add on or does it have a specific purpose?

Thanks

I apologize Climb.on, I'll be brief. It is a bathroom, furnace/ac, compressor, storage room. It was really worth putting on and only added $600 to the building price, not counting the doors. I PMed you pictures of the inside.
