Ahh, I haven't been on CPF in a year or two. I used to have a few Mag85's.. I was really into the "HOLY F#&K THAT IS BRIGHT" lights at the time

Now I'm just down to a Surefire Z2L, P6L, and a G2 for the car. I don't have any pictures though, sorry :)

I have that exact flashlight, I found it too bright to work on cars. It is in my glovebox as an emergency light.

I have a bunch of surefire's and pelicans from the when I was in the Military at home, some are mounted on firearms. I don't use them to work on cars though because I'd probably lose them. I use the $1 LED flashlights at work .

I've got several old Mag lights, a really old Kel-Lite, 2 Streamlight Stingers, a Streamlight SL-20X, a Streamlight Scorpion, a Streamlight Stinger LED, a Surefire 6PL, a Fenix LD10 and just picked up a Streamlight Strion LED. Perhaps it's an addiction.

Nothing too special just two red Streamlight Stingers - one with a Terralux 200 lumen LED conversion.

Zephyr - How do you like the Terralux LED conversion? With two old xenon Stingers I was thinking about doing the conversion.

LED Maglite, Streamlight DS LED HP, Fenix TK15, Surefire 6P.
134 lumens, 200 lumens, 337 lumens, 65 lumens.

I don't use any of these to work on the cars. I have a Streamlight headlamp that gets used and abused. Then the stash of free hf lights all over the place, they offer enough light and they're so cheap I don't even bother replacing the batteries.

I have a few mini maglites around the house and in my toolbag (with the LED upgrade and push button from Niteize)
I carry a 2 D cell maglite in the car, and a Fenix LD01 on my keys. It's one bright little flashlight!

What is this upgrade? I have probably 3 or 4 of the regular mini magazine lights and 1 or 2 of the LED ones. I have a LED 3 or 4 cell in each car and one by the front door.
I have lots of the little $1 or free LED ones and a couple 100 lumen units with Cree LEDs from Lowes.
I purchased two Icon Rogue 2's from Woot last week and they just shipped today. I know they are only 100 lumen, but these will be my first lights better than a magazine light.

Terralux was sold to Sylvannia I think. Anyway they had huge quality problems and many retailers dropped them because they were warranting more than they sold. New product stopped shipping I was told. So if yours works use it but don't drop it. If it breaks new or replacement may not be a good choice.

My first terralux kit last about a year and half. The next 5 went about 4 months.

I love my LED Maglite (left). The LEDs are so efficient I am still on my original batteries.

I have a 4Sevens Maelstrom that I used at the shop. It's 800 Lumens and runs on RCR26650. A special rechargeable battery made for the Maelstrom. It's equipped with the SST-90 Emitter. Very super bright light.

For a everyday carrying light, I have in my pocket a 4Sevens Quark Mini 123 that has 210 out the front Lumens. It runs on CR123A battery just one. Last a long time on just 1 CR123A battery. Haven't seen any smaller flashlight that is brighter than this one. Has High, Medium, Low and Strobe mode as well. Very tiny light, perfect for EDC.

Other than that, I keep 4 Streamlight DS C4 LED Flashlight around at work as well.

The most important tool in my toolbox, pocket, drawer, whatever. If you can't see it, you can't do it.

I have a Streamlight Strion LED at work. Love it, I think I'm going to get another to keep at home and maybe even a third one to keep in the truck. Maybe even wire a charger into the car, too (can't plug the cigarette lighter in because 968s have oversized sockets). Funny thing, everybody else at work seems to have a Strion as well, I think there must be half a dozen of them in the shop.

The only ones I currently use. Most of the newer "tactical" flashlights are beyond my means at this time. I recently got rid of the older military angle-head flashlights, they were just too big and heavy for the light they put out, 1960s technology.

I use the Mini-Mag lights for everything, camping, in the car, in the drawers of my home, toolboxes, etc. The yellow US Navy spotlight is for when the power goes out. Uses two 6-volt lamp batteries. It's old but it puts out a lot of light and can take a beating.

I carry a Streamlight NanoLight along with a Leatherman Squirt and a Fisher Trekker Pen. If I ever have to write a letter in the dark and under water while opening a beer, I guess I would be prepared.

Nice I like the one on the far right made by Glock.

I have too many flashlights and most just sit, but these three (well technically one is not a flashlight, but it is a battery powered light...) are the work horse, starting with the little single LED AAA Drocey. As you can tell I've had in my pocket for about ten years. And yes, those are O-rings replacing the long gone rubber "grips".

That one does 99% of all my needs. I've walked out of the woods, setup camp, repair cars, used it to illuminate dark cabinets and corners at estate and garage sales, found my way through my dark house, completed a test during a power outage at work once, and used it to get into a Data Center while the rest of the building was in a power outage...

Usable light for near 8 hours on one battery, and I carry 7 spare AAA's in a film canister in my fanny pack when I'm out in the woods, just in case... Flash light and spares weigh less that the other larger pretty bright multi LED flashlight, and lasts 10X longer one battery compared to the three in a set of batteries in the big one.

I've found that 99.9% of the time you just don't need aircraft landing lights to see adequately... (I will admit its fun to illuminate a hillside, but rarely have the need)

The "big" one gets used mostly for nighttime runs when I'm going to a house I don't know, and need to be able to see the ****** street signs... That one was picked up in a clothing store 6-8 years ago for like 5-6 bucks. I should have bought them out, its VERY well made... I tried to find another source, but they appear to be gone.

The third light gets used in my tent. Hung from the peak, its more than enough to dress by, set on my shoulder, I can read at night in my tent. The taped up jar lid is to keep it from getting turned on in transit in my duffle bag. I HATE finding it dead when I unpack... The switch is the lens, push on push off...

I've got fancier lights, but these are almost all I use anymore. :dunno:

I drive taxi at night and need large bright lights, for crazy people and addresses.

On the left is my 6d mag that uses 3 18650 and 3 Cree xml led module. It has an extension ring on the head and a grip that is rings of paracord with a bike inner tube rolled over the cord. Original light output is around 90 lumens and it puts out around 2500 to 3000 or so now.

The middle one is a 30 dollar eBay special with the same leds and batteries but I added an extra spacer tube to make it a little longer. It has a little heat shrink rubber and a little tire inner tube for grip. It is a back up light

The one on the right is a 7 dollar eBay light that I carry around. Takes one of the same style battery, has one XML Cree led and is somewhere around 1000 lumens on high. It has high med low and two speeds of flicker The head slides and changes light projection. I ground off some of the sharper edges, and added a pocket clip from a cell phone case so it carries a little better.

Surefire G2X. 320 Lumens. $65. One of the best values on the market out there, IMHO. Pricey at first but a reliable, high quality flashlight is worth the price.

I've killed many a cheapie. Surefire is the only brand I really buy these days, own a couple of Streamlights but Surefire is the mack daddy of flashlights.

I use it every day, and it is my daily carry light.

I brought my first surefire the day after I went on a camping trip and FOUR minimags in a row failed. Two were brand new, one was very lightly used, and the other one was a bit older. I still have that light and it still works perfect.

basic Streamlight Strion LED:

20140611_115308_zpsfca53b98.jpg

i noticed that a lot of the techs i work with had streamlights, and after questioning them about them, i decided to pull the trigger. my garage has pretty good lighting, but i take it with me when i travel, and i'll be able to mount it to my AR15 once that's completed as well.

i also really like having the option for a car charger.

so far i've been nothing but pleased!!
