Guys,

I'm looking for ideas on giving a face lift to the inside of my overhead doors. Right now, there are just tattered thin sheets of 20-year-old styrofoam insulation visible.

Lets see what you've got!

Erodz has the best in my opinion, hopefully he will chime in.

I second E.Rods doors, but then also, the member that has the black and diamond plated garage, put smooth aluminum panel on the inside of his doors, and it tied in very well.

As far as the inside of my doors, I just painted them to match the wall color.

The doors from the garage to our house. One goes directly to the basement and the other enters the main level.

The door on the left looks great. That's what E.Rodz and his son did to their doors. Is the door on the right a bifold, or does it just have a line down the middle?

The one on the left looks like a vinyl wrap of a safe door, pretty sweet. The one on the right looks to just be painted metallic with a line down the middle to resemble an elevator door.

Time to paint or get some new knobs!

They are both vinyl wraps, it is what I do. I know the knobs are out of place. I also wanted to do the trim to match the doors but haven't got around to it.

Very nice, I bet you could make a good side income selling the safe door wrap on ebay in standard door dimensions, maybe a few other varieties such as a wooden outhouse door wrap, etc.

I say take a picture of what the view is outside the door and vinyl wrap that on the inside :)

or eventually in a few years get some flexi-type oled screen or something and put it on each door with a camera to the outside. It'll feel like you're working outside.

Never thought about doing anything to the inside of my door. I always have it open when I am out in the garage working.

Good idea, but unfortunately my interior side wouldn't look that good due to the 20 years of abuse suffered at the hands of the previous owners.

Keep'em coming!

Here's an idea I would like to do in my garage if I had any need to re-cover or re-style the door: The doors in apartment on the TV show Big Bang Theory. They're painted flat grey to look like steel and have buttons that look like rivets. I think it looks interesting and would be easy to do. See attached picture...try, if you can, to look PAST Kaley Cuoco at the grey thing behind her.

That would definitely be cool.

I assume you mean dents, etc in the panels? Are your doors insulated? If not put some rigid foam insulation, the stuff with the aluminum foil backing, then paint them. Two birds-one stone.

That would be easy to do, again, if you have the rigid foam insulation on the doors, get a bunch of those plastic interior panel retainer buttons, the ones with the barbs and push them into the foam insulation in a pattern you like and paint as you wish. Could even lightly airbrush a shadow around them to make them pop.

Like so:

You can get about anything to cover the insides of the doors. If you have the foam, get a couple of sheets of luan plywood. It's something like 1/8" thick. One side of the door has, or should have a plastic insert. You pull it out and it gives you room to remove or replace the foam, but there is also enough slop that you can add something over the top of the foam insulation. THen you can paint it, stain it, or do whatever you like. The possibilities are endless.

Bumping this old thread because I am trying to think of ideas how to refresh my garage door interior?

Basically only one picture of a garage door interior on this thread and I'm hoping you guys have more by now.

Nothing wrong with mine except the aluminum is a little dinghy - looks like degreaser then 0000 steel wool would polish it up. The flat white panels look a little dirty too. I guess I'd paint them the same gray as the rest of the garage walls. Then maybe some artwork of some kind. But I'm open to other ideas - a mural, but it would have to go over the aluminum trim of each door "section" and still look ok.

Pictures please!
