Lol i expect you ment pics that actually let one see the bench as compared to the mountain of junk it accumulates.

Miter saw tables are the mortal enemy of those with "flat surface disorder". Mine tends to fill up with everything. Its worse now because im reworking the shelves streight above it though.

Give me an hour and i will post a photo of it at least a little clean.07150db85e82d48b646e1ff6435014e7.jpg

Sorry for the upside down shot in the "before" post. Now this one isnt super clean either but you can at least see whats going on.

That's the whole thing. Its 12 ft and some change long. I can go to infinitey to the right as it aligns with my shop door but i figure if im cutting more than a 12 footer in half i can use my circular saw.

Its basically just and mdf box approx the height of the saw. Then the "fence" is just a taller peice screwed to the back of the box. I left the front of the box open which left many small cubbies which i eventually made drawers for out of 3/16 underlayment.

They hold lots of little tools.

Make sure you have a dust collection solution as miter saws make a huge mess.bcb64057efe54b1b62bbd57487bcf075.jpg

Thats several inches of sawdust. Im going to eventually get dust collection hardlined in and fix this mess. At that time I will probably make a dust hood for the saw as well.

Also there are 100s of great examples on Pinterest and good image search. I got some good inspiration that way.

Another good one to look at is this guys instructable. ..

https://www.instructables.com/id/Miter-Saw-Station-Build/

It uses drawer slides to allow the fence to move forward and doubles as a shelf for other stationary tools. Its great.

And also google Jay bates miter saw station. His stuff is pretty top notch in my opinion.

Good luck.

I just tore down my radial arm saw bench, had it for about 20 years, it was 20' long and took up way too much space, and was always cluttered so you needed an hour of cleanup to do a 2 second cut. I opted for a good Bosch chop saw stand and a couple of Rockwell tripods. Only advantage the table had was for repetetive cuts. Other than that, the Stand is far more usefull. Just don't buy a cheapy stand.

We originally built one of these for our saw using their plans etc.

http://www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/mobile-miter-saw-station/

View media item 71264
Then when I brought it up to my new shop I considered removing it from the station and building it into a new bench. Then i realized I could incorporate the whole thing in.

I basically built a box for the station to set in that then set in the metal legs/back I used.

That allowed for future portability if I ever needed to use it outside the shop.
I actually lent it to some neighbors the other day. I know. Never lend tools.
We'll see.

My mitersaw gets frequent but lightweight use. It recently got kicked off a large table and has been residing on my Workmate. Lucky for me that HD has a sale on mobile workbenches.

DSCN3297.jpg

Now the Workmate is free for other chores and the saw has a nice home with wheels AND storage.

DSCN3300.jpg

This cart with drawers was cheaper than most chop saw stands and the bonus is that it is on wheels. I might use something else if I had lots of framing to do, but for light shop work, I think this thing is a great solution. My only regret is that the back of the saw protrudes too much for the pegboard back to be used.

Thanks! Our new house has no basement, so I have to put everything in the 2-car garage. It is still a blank slate for the most part, but I am getting there slowly.

Right now I just sit it on my Keter table. I don't have the space for an elaborate setup, so I'll be picking up the Ridgid MS-UV as soon as it goes on sale again.

Take a look on YouTube for the Ron Paulk Total Workstation. Guy's a master carpenter and home builder that had a ton of videos about portable workshops and jobsite work tables. He has several useful designs.
I build his portable work table design, already had a rolling table with a router insert and sort of blended the two designs. But I just put my miter saw on top of that. But looking to modify some garage wall shelving to incorporate a cutting station.
Another youtube woodworker named Jay Bates has a very nice cutting station design in his garage and a lot of vids about building his home shop.

I'm still working on finishing this but we're in the home stretch.

This was published in Woodworker's Journal in 2011 as the Ultimate Miter Saw Stand.

A Video by the author.

Plans are downloadable from Rockler for $7.95 (as of today).

Best regards,

Scott

This is a work in progress for me that I'm hoping to get finished by summer's end, but maybe that'll be more likely end of fall...oh well. I'm tracking the build process in my garage thread below. But, you can kinda see the idea. Dust hood (along with future plumbing from 3 spots), slots for a lot of drawers yet to be built, and wood storage below, and soon to be above as well. It also holds my drill press.

All I have is a side view so far, I'll see if I can get a front picture later today.

I don't ever seem to get things 'done' before I have to start using them. Still need to make drawers/doors after about 3 years and either install the fence I built or buy some aluminum extrusion. But, I got it moved to it's new location and installed the upper cabinets and built in the fridge. Dust collection might even happen someday.

I decided to make my wood working stuff somewhat stow-able when not in use. Here is my first shot at my folding miter station. It works damn good, but still needs a few things.

Not a bench, but mobile. Shown busy cutting up firewood.
