Although flathead screws aren't as commonly used these days, they still show up from time to time, and the Quick-Wedge screwdrivers really shine for certain applications. I use them for electrical wall plates most often.

I can't remember which one I acquired first, but it might have been one of the red ones. Since then, I grab them at flea markets when I find them. I don't think I've paid more than $2 for any one of them.

What I find really interesting about these is that they evidently came in so many variants. Longer ones, shorter ones, different handles...and it looks like they made some for Craftsman branding as well.

There are still a LOT of slotted screws in electrical work.

A holding screwdriver was on my tool list when I started… it still might be… I don’t know. I never really used mine. I have had it for about 30 years, and probably used it less than 100 times. For me, it is not worth carrying in my work tools. I have the same VACO that most electricians carry.
