That would look pretty sweet as a wall clock... just hope it doesn't fall on somebody.

Once I get some other things out of the way and have a little free time, this is next on my list. I figured it would make a pretty unique clock for the shop. For anyone who doesnt know what it is, its a rotor out of a mazda rotary engine. I had 2 motors sitting around that had lost their apex seals and were junk. Id like to find a way to turn the rotor housing into a goldfish tank using a couple sheets of lexan.

I just might use this idea. Nice thought.

That will make a great clock. I'm a huge fan of roto-motos, although I havn't owned one for a few years.

For the fish tank, I would use use at least 1/2" thick clear acrylic for the sides. Cut 'em to size. Drill and counterbore the acrylic for socket head cap screws. Seal with o-rings, and bolt it together just like the rotary engine. It would be easy to stack multiple rotor housings to make a larger tank. You could also use 1/4" thick translucent acrylic sheet as dividers between rotor housings, with slots or holes in different places on the dividers. This would give a cool 3D effect, and allow the fish to swim between the sections.

There is so many things to make clocks out of. Jack made this double sided clock from two boughten clocks. But if one didn't want to buy two clocks, just look around for different items. Places like WallyWorld in the kitchen section would have a couple of pans that look similar, two matching hubcaps put together, a couple of gears out together with a spacer in between. The good thing is that the works for a clock only cost a couple of dollars, so the ideas are endless as to what one can make.

All of the above clocks are unique though in their own way. I may have to make a run to Wally today and pick up a couple works and root through my stuff and see what I can come up with. I do have a set of '62 Impala hubcaps that would work I do like the idea of a double sided clock like Jack made.

I'd hate to tear up something that's working to do that, I'd rather start with something broken I don't have the keys either to open it up; when I get some time I'll have to fiddle with it and see what I can do.

I agree but that is what you are paying for a very unique clock.

What do you think...
Should I buy four of these school clocks at $25 each, put in a battery movement and sell them at $100?
Do people like these things. seen them on Etsy and pinterest.
I thought it would be a good little money-making project that the kids could help with and make money on. These are the remote clocks that need a master clock to run as there is no adjustment built in. That's why I would change them over to a new movement.
Any thoughts?

Had this tatty old aluminium sign lying around for a while, yesterday I turned it into my garage clock. Just need to get some longer hands and maybe make them stand out more, orange perhaps? Oh yeah, need a garage to hang it in too!

WOW, Never had a clock in my garage or shops. I have the barns, tractor barn, the machine shop and a wood shop. None have a clock. I stoped waring a watch in 1980 and take a pocket watch when I travel over seas.

I never have charged buy the hour but by the job for anything I have done. I make more money that way.

I don't even have a cell phone. The wife has one and I take it if I am on the go and she is at home. If you call the house I will not answer and will get back to you when I remember to check messages. This one will blow you away. I have never had cable TV. I refuse to pay for all the ****. I would rather read then watch a movie.

Everywhere you go there is a clock. The computer, the stove, the microwave, the TV, the car, The radio, the VCR or DV recorder all have clocks. I have antique clocks and I never wind them. My wife stopped the grandfather clock years ago. The chime drove her nuts. LOL

I don't need to know when it is time to take a break, clock in or go home.
I have never sent a test message or photo. I don't belong to any socal groups and I would never have a Face book page or the such.

I don't have a need to stay attached to anyone anytime. I don't want to know what you are doing and it is none of your business what I am doing.

It is a wonder I ever made a good living. LOL
