Since my shop's office will be designed with late-60s/early-70s motif, when I saw this clock at a thrift shop I had to have it...it spoke to me! LOL

This is a wind-up (just gotta find an appropriate key) made by Burwood Products, who made some pretty gaudy stuff. (Just do a Google search for 'Burwood clock' and you'll see what I mean!) But this one caught my eye and I decided it needed to come home with me.

I'm 100% with you on this, but it may be more trouble than it is worth. I'm sitting a few feet away from my 1880s windup wall clock as I type this (paid close to $300 just to get the mechanism rebuilt a few years ago).

For under $20, you can buy a battery-powered clock motor and retrofit it, and you should even be able to switch over the original clock hands (or use ones that come with the clock motor and spray-paint them gold so they look original).

Just a thought in case the mechanism is worn out beyond economic repair.

I was looking at Goodwill the other day for a clock for the shop. There were a bunch of them ranging from small digitals to large (12" tall) digitals, alarms, radios, and a bunch of regular clocks. $5 each for any of them. I started to pick one up and then set it back down and walked out. I didn't know why I didn't buy a clock, then saw this thread, and that is EXACTLY why I didn't get one. I go out to the shop to, well relax. Even if I'm working on the Mustang or the golf cart or a Mule, lawn mower, transmission, anything. That stupid clock just makes me want to work faster; to set my own deadline. When I get home, I'm perfectly happy with nothing but me, the shop cat, and a radio turned to a low volume (sometimes) but a clock I can do without. I go in when I get too tired...or start hurting; and even then sometimes I don't' go in. Been known to nap on the removed back seat from the Mustang at least once.

I got me a second hand clock from goodwill.

I paid cash because it was implied that there was no tic.

I posted this earlier but last week the mechanism started making loud noises and then died. It gave me a chance to re-restore it. It was originally used in Chevy dealerships in 1955. I restored it about 25 years ago. This time I painted the case with the correct hammertone paint and was able to find the replacement Synchron motor online. It's back running again.

Haven't made it through the thread yet, but does anyone know of a site where you can download clock faces to print?

Here's my other shop clock. This one's over my motor bench. Made it from an old clock face, H-D decal and a new battery clock mech and hands.

Still needs some accent paint on the hands I think.

I got this one from Snappy about a month ago. Bad cell picture doesn't do it justice. When I saw it, I liked it, but having an SO neon clock in the shop already, why do I need it. Then it hit me, that neon clock is really bright. I put that one in the garage to use as a night light and got the new one for the shop.

Recently found this.. not sure if the wooden part is original or how old it is but I stuck a battery in it and it came to life! Needs cleaning up but otherwise pretty sound :)

Nothing too special but my two main wall clocks.

Harley Davidson clock that has engine chimes at the top of every hour. My wife gave this one to me about ten years ago for Father’s Day.

My Miller welding clock that I got when I bought my Miller Dynasty TIG welder about twelve or so years ago.
