I have this one, except the legs are white. Just your average, run of the mill laundry sink.

Here's mine, it was in my previous shop. Water not run yet. It's stainless steel, and I bought it in 1980 from a metal scrap yard for $15.

Best think I've ever done is add a sink in my garage. Use it alost evertime I work in the garage.

One in the bathroom for bathroom guests, and a laundry tub for the dirty stuff.

Here's mine. Came out of a restaurant. Haven't hooked it up, because, well, I don't have plumbing in the shop yet. I've been thinking of setting it up as a parts washer anyway.

CrashTest, that's a nice rig--all stainless and a lip so stuff drains into the sink.

I am envious.

Mine is a standard issue plastic tub. I built a waterproof counter around it, though, which makes it a lot more useable. I have separate hot and cold spigots, which I've kludged together with some Y-valves and short lengths so that I can run warm water through a hose (and out the door) for washing the dogs.

One day, I'll re-do this part of the garage. But a sink is definitely worth having -- I use it all the time.

I actually have 5 sinks in my shop but 2 on the working floor. Both laundry tubs refitted with single handle kitchen faucets.

I'd be interested to know if anyone runs a self-contained sink (i.e. using a holding tank). I have no plumbing in my detached garage, but a sink would be great.

I used a two basin plastic laundry sink. Got it on sale or clearance. Legs were useless, it fell over the first time I put it together. Threw the legs away and made a 2x4 frame for it. Probably should have made it a couple of inches taller. I made it the same height it would have been on its own legs. Kinda short is great for lifting a heavy bucket of water out of it however.

The water heater is underneath it, a 2.5 gal tank type. They make a 4 gal now, but I could not find one when I installed the sink several years ago. Wished I had more hot water, someday I will install a 20 gal unit on the wall above the sink.

The original faucet was pretty crappy and I eventually threw it and installed the American Standard single lever faucet in the pic. It was on a clearance at Home Depot when they cleaned out the warehouses a couple of years ago.

I have a 2 basin sink like the one above, wished I had one large one. This way I can fit things into the sink. GO BIG!!!

I am shopping for one right now too. I am looking for a stainless unit with drainboards like CrashTestDummy has. I see them frequently on Craigslist for as little as $200. My issue is that I am looking for one that is pretty specific to fit the spot I have in my garage.

Worth a look if you have some time to wait for a deal...

Found this sink on the clearance rack at HomeDepot for $20, and the faucet was FREE....

Any faucet will connect to a hose if you get a "hose to pipe" adaptor. I've got some and have seen them at the box store.

I too, have the standard piece:

...
However, I plan on installing a small tankless hot water heater this winter.

The price is right and is very easy on the electric bill

Do you have a link to the hot water heater you are interested in? Sounds like a deal.

Cheers!

I'm looking hard at this one for an outdoor sink:
http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3830042

Does anyone know of a faucet that you can connect directly to a short length of garden hose? This sink would be right by a hose bibb. My Google searches are turning up nothing.

Yes, 1/2 NIP to hose adapter, I will see if I can find a pic of a single faucet I found at HG, works great for that setup. I have a couple rigged for outdoor hand washing.

I picked this up on CL for $100... it's a lot cleaner now! We had one of those plastic laundry sinks, but it wasn't cutting it for the beer making operation. ;)

Here's mine, which I just finished up on Sunday....The utility sink backs up to the common wall between the shop and bathroom since all the shared plumbing is there.

I still had a slab of bowling lane material left over from building my bench so I decided to cut a piece and use it for my counter. The countertop sits on 2x4 cleats and is screwed in place from the bottom.

I cut a 45 on it to get rid of the abrupt corner, since I could see myself slamming my gut right into it, if I left it with a sharp corner. Then I trimmed it with 3/4" x 3" Poplar and painted it to match the edge trim on my bench.

There is only one support leg, made of 2" mild steel tubing and it is welded to two horizontal tubes which are tied to the studs at the walls at each end with 3/8" lag bolts.

I liked this design since it makes it easier to sweep under. I considered a single 45 degree brace but then decided I wanted the horizontal tubes to put the shelf on. Plus I wanted to get this done today so I resisted the urge to get fancy with it...

I'm going to make a shelf to go under there, but didn't have a piece of 3/4" plywood the right size.

The sink is the 30 dollar one from home depot. The faucet is also the HD special "Glacier Bay" 30-dollar thing but I have to say the quality was pretty decent. Has the sprayer, too.
