Sorry for the misleading topic, but I wanted to see what you all use for stools around your garage / shop. I bought a little red craftsman and broke the thing in a weeks worth of use. I weight roughly 210 and I’m skinny so I tend to break stools in the middle. I was a little surprise to see how cheap of wood they use on the craftsman. I think I will make my own out of the frame of the old stool, so I’m just looking for ideals.

lol Im with ya Ill keep my reply on track although my mind is in the gutter.

I think I got a craftsman stool for christmas. I sure hope it isnt the same one you posted. That almost looks like 1/4" luan. Maybe upgrade the wood and reupholster it.

I have just a cheap 20 dollar creeper seat I bought at a swapmeet.


Now if you're talking stools, for sitting around the shop when not working, iI have a few of them, no pics though.

Hahahahah, I sure hope no one in the medical profession reads this. We may get some interesting pictures :)

But since I am posting, I have cheapy stools from Menards with and without backs.

Using these right now, but to new to tell how well they hold up. :headscrat
They seem strong enough, but I'm only 185 lbs. myself.

As far as those "other" stools, don't usually take pictures of them.:bounce:

It's was on sale at Harbor Freight and it measures 15 1/4" low then up to 19 3/4" high. Kind of light weight, but it was cheap and works alright, for wheels and low work. Haven't had it/used it long enough, to say how it will hold up yet. New place and no projects yet.

Just zip tied two milk crates together. When the top one gets worn I switch'm. Makes for a pretty good step stool also.

Milk crates are great for working on my truck, I just hate how they want to slide out from under your feet when you lean over the fender....

I'll bet the "Crapsman" was made in China. I have one of their aluminium floor jacks....lasted about 5 uses and the seals blew out of it. I was able to get one from work to replace it. I'm also a 5 gal. bucket guy.

Just use your broken piece as a pattern for cutting a piece of ½ or ¾ plywood and put it back together.

I have one of these and the first thing I did was replace all of the hardware with Grade 8 stuff and it has been abused occasionally over the last 5 years or so. I weigh in around the 220 lb range.

Replace the hardware and new piece of plywood will fix that thing up just right. :pimpflash

I have one that looks pretty much identical. It's Craftsman. Not the best quality, but it has lasted me at least 5 years so far.

It's height adjustable like an office chair.

Hmmm...if I need to adjust the height of my bucket, I just add another one. They were on sale the other day for $1.60 at Home Depot...:bounce:

I have the Craftsman stool with a back. Its black if that makes a difference. None of the other ones I found that were tall enough to work at my bench AND have a back. Got it for like 29 black friday last year or something.. Held up fine so far...
