I sold mine everytime I went to use it the rubber tires on the saw were rotted out. Now I just use a 4" grinder to make the occasional cut.

I made my own setup a couple years ago. It was supposed to be temporary but it works well for what I use it for. It sits loose on my bench but I put a hinged piece on the front to keep it from sliding when in use. I also added a dollar store tray to catch the filings.

Don't have pics but also made my own, just some 1/4" plate and 1x1x0.100 square tube legs...super simple and wayyyyy cheaper than the swag version.

On a rolling table next to a Coote belt grinder. Did you guys have to add TWO grub screws to get the saw vertical and stable? I did, see red arrows. Also: Do you release the tension lever when not in use? (Mine is released in this photo, which is why the blade looks bendy.) I release blade tension on my wood bandsaw when not in use, but don't know if it's necessary for a metal bandsaw blade...

Here's mine.....I was disappointed that the blade didn't sit square to the saw gap, so I couldn't use the miter guide that I bought with it....they suggested that I shim the bearings to rotate the blade, but doing that meant the mounting holes no longer lined up at alI.

I also didn't like the Powdercoat finish that I ordered, so I talked to them and they willingly swapped it out for a plain one, and they sent me a free saw mount blank so I could drill my own holes and get it right. I'd rather they were drilled correctly from SWAG but at least they were responsive.....

I haven't gotten around to drilling the holes in the new plate yet, but once done at least it won't have 30 un-used holes in it.

I do like it tho, sure makes it a lot easier to cut small pieces especially

I have been taking it apart after every use. Still debating to leave it as "permanent" setup.

If one owns a Milwaukee, et al, deep cut portaband, maybe. If one has to buy the saw, then it's a $500 deal and for me, no way, no how.

How many using the SWAG already owned the saw?

Bought my DeWalt on eBay for $70; paid $110 for the Milwaukee. Both were “buy it now” at ~$20 more than that; put them on my watchlist and both sellers offered a discount within a day or two. I might have $10 in both of the tables I built. Pretty cost effective if you DIY.

I keep meaning to pick up one of these. I have some old HF bandsaw with a broken handle. I suppose that would suit if I can figure out which Swag kit would fit it.

I picked up a Makita portable bandsaw on CL for about $150. The seller was asking $300, but I pointed out that's what they cost new and offered less and it was accepted. My wood-cutting bandsaw just would not work for metal. I even tried getting a motor control to slow it down, but the motor is of a type that doesn't allow for speed controllers. I painted the top light gray and the sides to match the saw. I've never regretted spending the money.

A few years ago I bought the Milwaukee saw new when I ordered the table. For the powder coated table and the plug in deep cut Milwaukee saw, I'm all in about $370. It has been well worth the cost for me. I clamp the front two table leg tabs to edge of my grinding table so the swarf just falls into bin underneath.

I made mine a few years ago. Picked up the old abused PortBand from Craigslist. Diassembled and cleaned it up. New bearings, new tyres, and blade. Built the table assembly for it. works great for what it is. The only change is I replaced the small rubber feet that you can’t see here with some pinball machine feet (because i have them, and they’re really inexpensive leg feet if you buy them this way).

Hardest part was mounting the flat table to the saw. I made a new bracket for that part.

I bought my SWAG table, and foot pedal not long after I got my Milwaukee deep cut portaband. For me, it adds a ton of versitility and with the foot pedal controller it's a dream to use.

Need to add a couple pics later, but mine is mounted to the bench top. Small 2ftx4ft bench made out of scrap counter top and lumber, and it holds the portaband at a comfortable height for me to use when its in the SWAG table and small benchtop drill press. Being old counter top its easy to sweep up swarf once I'm done.
