Has anyone ever used the red hf box for building maintenance? I have a torin right now that I might be looking to upgrade. But I'm not sure if the hf box will put up with the abuse of moving throughout a building all day long

i ran mine in a 6 bay auto shop for 2 years, aside from normal wear on the casters and some scratches its just fine. i dont see why it wouldnt hold up as long as you lube the casters and drawer sliders.

How did the casters hold up and do you know what the replacement cost for them where.

The reason I ask is my torin has threaded stud casters and they are $25 a pop. I was going to get new casters and a screw driver box for mine. But I'm then almost at a new carts cost.

Still trying to trace down some decent affordable caster but figured I would look at other boxes as well.

Also has your box stayed tight with minimal maintenance

i still am using the original casters. and i think i got the 2 for under the additional side cabinet for like 20 bucks shipped from HF. i have done some heavy modding to it, but the bearings on the drawers are still smooth, i used 80w90 gear oil on them maybe twice in 2 years. all 6 swivel casters are smooth rolling and swiveling, and regular axle grease about every 3 months kept them that way. as far as the steel its not warped or flexed anywhere but the lid, and most of that is due to my own modding.

if you're ready to drop 100 bones on casters, spend the 170 on a whole new cart. you will not be disappointed. just remember to look for the one with all swivel casters and not 2 swivel 2 fixed, unless that's what you're looking for. :rocker:

Dang, I'm glad I finally checked out this thread.

I bought this snappy cart a few years back for $20.00. Scrubbed it for awhile with simple green since it had an inch of grease on it, but that was it. Been thinking of selling it since it isn't terribly useful, but I think I found the solution...

I'm going to attached that currently empty mid-box underneath the upper tray, clean and repaint the whole thing. I got the mid box years ago at sears on clearance, I don't feel the least bit bad about repurposing it.

Hmm. Lot of good ideas in here guys. I think im gonna get a poly foam cart and just use it as my to and fro so I can eliminate trips to my box. Every last second counts

Well I found some replacement wheels for a good price so I decide to keep my torin box and brace the back of it. Which I would have had to done to any box I bought anyways.

I also ordered a sunex 8011bk screwdriver box for it. This thing cleared up a ton of room for me. Now I can add more tools lol.

Here's some pics. Hope to have the wheels installed next week.

Nice cart setup. I'm curious about the "foldable" set of small trays in the top of the cart. Did that come with the Torin cart or some other source?

Yeah the trays come with the cart like hayhauler said. They are removable if you like as well. The torins bottom box is also removable which is a cool feature also.

That tray is the top is one of my favorite things about the cart and is one of the main reasons I picked this cart in the first place

I typically work out my small, dimly lit, 1 stall cramped garage, and I found myself using at least 1 flashlight just to illuminate the cart/drawers. So today I modded the cart and added a couple of small flexible lights, now I can spotlight even the bottom of the lowest drawer with ease.
Pitch black garage, just the cart lights:

My krsc10f apparently these aren't that common I had a hell of a time finding info other than so website.. Anyhow I wanted a heavy duty mobile work surface didn't really care about the drawers but they come in handy to keep tools off the top when working on something up top.. I had it built to match the color combo of my future krl1033

One of the mechanics at work let it tip over. So I had to do a bit of work just to get the drawers to open. The bottom drawer doesn't have slides so it's basically a catch all. Since I took the pics I've added too many tools and I'm looking to replace this with a KRSC326 or 46. Or....

Does the krsc43 not have pry bar and screw driver slots on the top sides like the other carts? Doesn't look like it from pictures.

I really like it. No it does not have prybar storage down the sides, but I have plenty of room in the drawers. A snap on 36" bar fits in the drawer at an angle. For me it has been a real time saver having almost all of the tools I need in a given day. Have hardly opened my main box in the last week.

Sure looks similar and wouldn't surprise me. I Think Matco only makes the jsc750 and 770. From what I can tell those are the only ones they make at the tool box plant the rest is someone else's with some custom Matco pieces made for them like the bumpers.

Think I might be getting a us general 5 drawer to go along with my torin. I'm getting tired of walking my cart between 3 buildings

Dunn1wrench, sorry took longer than expected. With school and work I have no time.

KRSC43

A fresh wax!

Ratchets so far. most used are put in with the sockets

Top compartment. Tune up and brakes tools. Little scanner that is awesome. Multimeter in black case on left (youll see it in my bottom drawer picture but I keep it here now). Speeders, ratchets, knives, and misc. stuff. Also keep my grandfathers 50's or 60's screwdrivers (red and black) in the middle for good luck.

Sockets (shallow, semi-deep, deep, and swivel in both 1/4 and 3/8. Hex bit 4-10 and torx t8-t55), extensions, and my most used ratchets. Adapters and universals as well.

Wrenches, 10-22, +24 In Flank Drive and 10-19 Ratcheting Flank Drive Plus. 60 offset. A couple Mac 0 offset, love em. Allen keys. And seal spoons and scrapers that I have no room to put anywhere else lol

Screwdrivers. Pretty straight forward. Got the minis layed out.

And how the drawer usually looks. Got new torx so I jus put them on top and slide them off what I need.

Pliers and clip tools in back

Black roll pouch on the right is this

Impacts, SN24 Breaker bar, hammer, punches, roll pin punches, radiator picks, and torque wrenches

Torque wrenches

Last drawer, Beginning of my diagnostic tools spread out. Compression gauge, coolant system tester, and multimeter. Black cased with red snap on is cts561 cordless screwdriver that I'm trading for the 661 lithium once my driver gets it in.

Same drawer with cases stacked on side like usual, and minus the coolant tester i usually lay on the 1/2 impacts.
Impact sockets. Shallow, deep, and swivel in 3/8 and 1/2
