HF unit. Good quality item! I did not need it but for about $71 I had to get one. The best thing about it was that it gace me something to do with the pile of quality tools I had too many of. Beats them lying in a box or selling them for pennies on the dollar.

I like the design of my orange Kennedy (now used as a wall unit) better, but the HF is just as much of a quality item.

This is my old crash cart I used when I still worked in company's fabrication shop (got promoted to programmer...), I work at an AV company, so this is just a modified normal crash cart. I flipped the top over so that I could use it for reading/marking up drawings, and a work surface for when I had to modify gear. On the left I have a cable hanger that we had laying around the shop, it works great for it's intended purpose of hanging test cables off of, it also holds screwdrivers, and on the sides it has two little cups that worked great for holding small screws, connectors, etc. I bolted a mud tray on the end to hold pens, markers, highlighters, wire ties, small parts tools, more or less a catch all. On the other side there's a u-bolt that I cut one of the set of threads off, put it in the vice and bent a 90 degree at the other threads, put that on the cart to hold clip boards. It was a great cart for what I was doing, once I left the shop I passed it on to another guy at the shop, so sadly I don't have any other pictures of it in action.

I never did get around to putting a drink holder on it...

Didn't like how the MB199UC lid was. So traded for the MB1305UC instead. Way happier with this cart, especially how the top opens up.

I'm surprised I haven't posted here yet!

Found this cornwell for 250$ on CL, casters are perfect, all the drawer slides work great, just a few scratches here and there, pretty decent upgrade from my HF one haha

I see the maxxforce sticker there, are you working on the blue stuff? Like that little cart you got there, and a sweat deal at 250.

I've liked this cart for 5 years. Price last time was $1500. If you don't mind, what did you pay?

Love the white. Probably gonna be hard to keep clean.

It was about $1600 CAD. Its not that bad to keep clean. I give it a quick wipe after i wipe my tools down at the end of the day. Helps me keep track of any tools I might have "misplaced" too haha.

Thanks. No those are some of the shops boxes, they have held up pretty good for a dozen guys beating them up everyday.

If you're easily bored, skip down to the first pic.

I started with a cheap Princess Auto 3 shelf cart. My use is to primarily keep this empty, fill it with parts and tools when doing a job, then put everything back away when I'm done. Of course things don't always work out that way, it sometimes becomes a "stuff" collector.

Anyway, I have a lockstone path from the back door of my garage (where the tools are) to the front of it (where the cars, bike etc are). So the idea is when the job is done, all the accumulated tools and old parts can be wheeled back to the back door. The wheels were too small for this to work well.

I got this idea from the HF cart mod thread. What I started with.

New and old casters

The original caster threads directly into the end of the post. 10 mm threads!

So the corner bolt needs to be a 10 mm. If I could find some 10 mm coach bolts, I'd use them for the other 3, just to standardize. Now I have one temporary bolt in the opposite corner. I need to run off to the hardware store to get some 5/16 coach bolts and nylock nuts.

I put a layer of hardboard between the casters and bottom shelf to lessen the local stresses on the shelf.

The casters will hit each other if they both "toe in" when changing directions, but can be forced past each other.

I moved the bottom shelf down about 1 1/2 inches to sit on the hardboard. The bottom shelf bolt would require drilling through the threaded insert in the bottom of the leg, so I just used them to fill the exposed hole.

And here's what I end up with. 5 inches taller! But much more bottom heavy, which will add to stability. The center of the tire can be a lot closer to the center of the cart when pushing it sideways due to the larger casters, but with the extra weight down low, it does not seem tippy. And it rolls down the lockstones and over the door threshold much better now.

I'm drooling. That racing box beats all my boxes...

haha thanks! It all was a pretty penny, but it makes it so worth it when you need that perfect tool that no one else has. I live my life by, "better to have and not need, than need and not have". Here's the shop box and bolt/electrical cart.

Modified Harbor Freight 5 drawer, posted this already in the mod thread.

Plan to do a few more modifications before loading it up with my tools to free up my big snap on box for more tools.

Was cheaper than a new tool box.

Enjoy.
