Very nice setup, Ratchet man.

Thanks Jeff. I'm currently in the process of making racks for the pliers to try to get them all in 1 drawer. There are currently 8 plier drawers. I need that space back.

I've got the aluminum rulers and all-thread to make the racks. I just gotta find to to do it.

I like how you just have 2 new in the box orange ratchet set, NBD

:D

Is the bottom ratchet set of newer models?

The set in the back is 30/32 teeth with the 2 piece selector and a 1996 date code. The front set is Next Generation 36 teeth with the 1 piece selector. The date code is not visible without opening them.

There is a new thread on here about your first time on the Snap on truck. Around 1998 was my first time on a truck and my eyes could only focus on one of these sets on the shelf out of all the other tools. I could not afford them at the time and it was years later before I could. By that time they were long gone from the local trucks. The 1996 set was my first eBay purchase and the reason I signed up in the first place. It is the flagship of my collection and will never be opened or sold. I waited over 10 years to put my hands on one so its more of a trophy to me. The other set was just a really good deal....and it had orange handles. I collect the ratchets with the 2 piece selector though.

Yes i do. I pull those half inch racks forward just a little. But throughout the day of slamming the top drawer shut they always creep back.

My other complaint is i wish the middle drawers were just a little bit taller. I had to rearrange a few times because of cases or tools hitting when trying to close the drawers. Overall i love the box and have plenty of room for now lol.

I wish the middle drawers where slightly taller as well. Thats one of my only complaints.

Stanley Vidmars. One is 58" tall x 28" deep x 30" wide and the other is same but only 44" tall. I have owned or been around all makes and models of tool boxes being in the aviation industry and I can tell u these things rock! No ball bearing sliders here; True ROLLER bearings on a carriage for every drawer. Every drawer has a 400lbs capacity. Found them used on CL. I have a total of $1050 in both of them. I put the castors on them, otherwise they are really made to be in a permanent location; like in a machine shop or factory.

kr655 I picked up to hold all the less used tools,
Im already looking for 1 or 2 more of the same box

Warmpancakes, that is really nice. Much larger than it looks I bet. Are those large rivet guns/pullers? If so, what do you use them for? Is that at your house or at work? I really like how well that top drawer is organized.

Ratchet Man, WOW, I am just speechless. That is a very well stocked tool box. Are you a pro or just a home guy?

There are currently 8 plier drawers.
 8? Drawers of JUST pliers? WOW I take it is not just one or two pliers per drawer, right? :lol_hitti

Here's mine.

Matstang, that is a real nice setup. Who makes that side box? I have never seen one like it before.

Stanley Vidmars.

Welcome to GJ 67cummins. Great first post. Those are my ultimate dream boxes. I totally agree with you, the lista/vidmar/industrial cabinet roller bearing design is just so superior to the ball bearing slide like the tool box manufactures use. That 16 drawer cabinet must hold alot of tools.

Do you have any more shop pictures. Please feel free to post them in the show your garage sub forum. With tool boxes like that I really wonder what the rest of your shop looks like.

Zkling,

No I'm not a pro but I do a little more than just work in the 2 car garage. All vehicle maintenance and repairs on our 3 vehicles, 2 tractors and attachments, 4 wheelers and lawnmowers is done by me. The tractors require some of the larger wrenches and sockets I have. I work on a lot of stuff but since I own it, paying my self for the work is a little redundant. :)

1 large drawer and 7 small drawers of pliers. Not really that many when they are all evenly spaced and placed flat. Having them placed in display fashion has become pointless since the Ol' Lady is the only one to see them and she could care less. :D

I gotta make room somewhere before I have to visit HF for another 44".

they are large rivet guns, uses ford door handles, but I use them for the cladding on gmc trucks

this is is a home box,

Hi Tool Friends.

I'm glad to have stumbled on this thread. Attached are some pictures of my carry around boxes. Not as grand as many of the boxes on this forum. However, they have the quality to be proud of and are easier to load & unload than my cabinets.

The first one is a Craftsman from the early 70s that I bought at a yard sale in the early 80's and used for some industrial maintenance jobs and some handyman work that I took on a few years back.

The second one is a Beno J. Gundlach, #158, 24" box that I got from a second hand store 4 months ago. Gundlach makes quality carpet installation tools. I guess that this was a box for knives and other small tools. I really like how heavy duty & large this one is. Currently, it's on top of the box for my 1960 Craftsman gas welding set.

Thanks guys. I have to be organized because a lost wrench could cost someone there life. I have most if the tools I need to do my job besides maybe a c-clamp. A vise grip style c-clamp and a set of mini screw drivers for wireing

Here is our son showing off my new 52" Craftsman. Seems they are on clearance making way for a new style box. Didn't really want to buy right now, however I like all of my boxes to be the same style. I spent $903.00 for just the bottom this time. In 2006 I spent $760.00 for 1st one, and in 2012 I was able to buy the top and bottom 52" at $999.00 My overall plan is to have all three across the back of my garage. Overall happy to have the storage. I found once you can pull out a drawer and lay your hands on a tool vs. dig - I got hooked on having more storage.

I went through my Pre-Apprenticeship course at BCIT for Automotive this past year and just found a job as an Apprentice so here's my toolbox. It's a Tactix 26 inch set with 90 lb rated ball bearing drawers and a 1000 lb rated ball bearing casters.

I am still piecing together a good set of tools so most of it is empty still.

This was my first toolbox and I still have it and its not for sale either. I have seen others with the peterbilt top cover but have never ever seen another with the bottom drawer of the bottom box covered. my brother bought this setup brand new and it was my 16th birthday gift from my parents. It needs a good cleaning and polishing and it will slowly be filled with tools for my son who is 5 months old.

Nice looking box Judge. he'll be proud of it.

Dan

I think so also, I just really want to get it home and buffed and waxed and the cover on it. I don't know what the model numbers are of the boxes but everything seems to still function ok, slides work good but I may convert them to ball bearing for him. Thanks you tho!

Maybe pounding a few of those drawers back into submission ;)

Again, WOW, great score. I just noticed it also has the key, even better.

Following up on your other thread, it does sound like the drawer slide tabs are broken off in the back. Hopefully that is the case and the actual channel stops aren't damaged. I just can't imagine all 12 slides being like that though? Maybe someone "customized" it to be able to remove the drawers easily? :dunno: Sounds like some exploratory surgery is in order. :willy_nil

Love it. If you could somehow work in a box that has individual drawer handle pulls it would be perfect. :lol_hitti

i had a set of wards powrkraft boxes that i gave to a boxless friend, set of remline pro's that i traded off.

no more toolboxes for me, i'm running outta places to put them.

Heres my box/roll cart. Snap On KRSC326FPJJ. Just graduated from the Auto Program at school in May and took advantage of the student discount. Have a pretty good start on tools, no specialty tools, but those will come as time goes on. This is all I have for now, ill take some pics of the drawer layouts for you guys. I may have a small problem with extreme green...

Here are my Kennedy roll-arounds I used the one on the right in by former life as an Industrial Maintenance Electrician. It now stores home & hobby tools. The one on the left has always stored my home & hobby tools.
