Wow! white looks awesome! How does it hold up on a regular day to day work environment? Do you have to clean it everyday?

I spray it down with quick detailer and wipe it with a microfiber every few days. I try to just grab the underside of the drawer pulls and will use a shop rag to open it when my hands are greasy. The snap on powdercoat is very easy to clean up though.

New Epiq 68in. Upgraded from a matco 4s. Much better organization now feel like I will run out of room in year or two. Finally have room so I can buy a videoscope and wireless chassis ear. going to add power top and riser for sure. side locker eventually.

Hi guys im new to the forum. im a 20 year old farm machinery mechanic and this is my toolbox. It consists of two craftsman rollers i got for about 100 dollars at different times used. The frame is made from kubota and landoll shipping brackets. The top is made from an old wooden solid door. This box suits my needs very well and i only have 220 dollars into it.

I like ur ingenuity. Bet it gets the job done just fine. My ol craftsman boxes were fine and I only got rid of them because I couldn't stand that I couldn't put levels and big pry bars in the drawers

warmpancakes,

I saw MechanicnameJohn's white triple Matco and that was the first white box that made stop and look twice.

After seeing yours I have to say that the white is growing on me and that is one sweet box!

Just picked up this MBCentury tool box and I can't find a lot of information about it. I saw where MB Century might be a maker of the original red Snap On boxes and it does have that look. Is that true? i'm guessing MBCentury is out of business now or did it just get bought up by Snap On or some other company? I've been looking for a nice old tool box for a while now and hopefully I can make this one work like it did when it was new.

the key was found for the top box, but the hinge is bent for the lid and may need to be replaced. the drawers have the nice full finger pulls and all seem to work ok. the bottom of the box has the lock missing and the panel is off and laying on the inside of the bottom section where there isn't any drawers. the base has a little damage which might have run into something so some body work is needed and the wheels roll, but not easily. i'll take more pictures to show off the good and bad points after I clean it up some if that helps anybody that might have some knowledge to help me restore this old toolbox.

Pff, that is much nicer than my first box. As mentioned, everyone starts somewhere, very very few can start at the top. And those that do will never fully appreciate it like those of us that started with the lower end boxes. Where did you get the bottom box? Looks like it came out of a hospital as an old crash cart. Definitely don't be ashamed of that box, focus on the tools. Anyone respectable wouldn't laugh at a guys box, especially a smaller box. Now if you had a multi $K box and no tools to put inside that might be a different story.

Ha ha, awesome. I ran across that ad the other day, and though it was a good deal.

How many drawers does the top have? Yes it is essentially a snap on box, there might be a few minor changes, but most of them parallel the SO models. Good quality, basic friction slide box.

So I am a huge car guy and got my new box last year and have been hesitant to put any stickers on the inside of the top box lid which is up 95% of the time .
As I have been building up my current car the stickers are piling up. Anyone else in same boat? Or ideas? Last 2 boxes I put them on not sure why I second guessing this time.

on your old box I see that maybe your favorite picture is blue taped on the lid. yes?? why don't you do that with a few of the new stickers so you'll have some color and if you are never going to sell the box then stick all you wish and let your kids worry about selling it. IMHO

as has been mentioned before, everybody starts with a "less than ideal" toolbox, and a smaller amount of tools.

over time you'll accumulate more tools, run out of space, buy more toolboxes, sell/trade them in, and buy bigger/better boxes.

hopefully by then, you'll have your own house and a garage to keep them in.

So, been on here a while and visit often but don't post much.

A few months ago I had the chance to pick up and extra toolbox to relieve the strain on the old (well, not that old) one. The Christmas break gave me the chance to do some cleaning and re-organising.

I know how you blokes love pictures especially witha few brands that you're not so familiar with, so here are a few. Unless for throwaway I generally buy only brands that have lifetime warranty, so Stanley, SP Tools, Kincrome, Sidchrome etc. There's a couple of different ones in there for the sharp-eyed - Dowidat, Gedore and Belzer. One single Craftsman socket, too.

The new combination. New box is a cheapie on the left but seems solid enough. Doesn't have to move around much.

Lots of space now so can spread tools out a bit. That will change...

So much space that I even have room for spare tools like these cheap screwdrivers that are the only ones available for loan or get bent into strange shapes to get to difficult spots.

The age old problem....lose a socket or occasionally break one and it's cheaper to buy a set. These are spares:

The "problem drawer". Not enough height to stand them on edge and ends up being a mess. Has to be a solution somewhere...

In my shop we do automotive paint repairs plus various other stuff and I like to do most of the maintenance on our own vehicles. Hence the need for a fairly comprehensive kit.

Put the stickers on magnetic sheets from Staples and you can take them off and move them anytime you want!

Actually it's a Homak. They've been around for quite awhile now. I bought it off a Miata friend. Pretty good quality for it's age.

Thanks for the compliments and suggestions, all! :)

Yes, I see it is a Homak, but given the color, drawer setup and the bumpers on the bottom corners. I'm fairly certain it was designed as a crash cart for the hospital. Waterloo, Homak and a few others made crash carts for the medical industry all sharing similar traits of which your bottom box has many. I bet someone along the line somebody payed a good penny for that.

Gotta say, there are some super-fine tool boxes posted here! Some are fine because they are top-quality truck brand boxes, and others are fine, even if they are modest quality boxes, because they obviously have been assembled or out-fitted to meet the needs of the user.

I’ve hesitated to include my box in this thread, but decided, what the heck, might as well put it up. It’s a 40” Craftsman Griplatch with the single, full width intermediate drawer and a smaller 26” top box with some small file card drawers on top. Over the past few years I’ve made numerous modifications to the drawers, added some shelves, a paper towel roll, and a few other gadgets.

I’m not a professional mechanic and only use the box for my antique tractor restoration hobby work and miscellaneous minor car maintenance. My workshop is fairly large, so the box gets rolled from work task to work task.

Great setup John, That is really cute how everything matches. ;)
I'm liking the card files, I have a few single files that I built into a small, poor man's side cab. Wish I could find a few more, very handy size for tape and the like. Do yours have slides on them or is it just the metal drawer bottom on frame?
