A Homak from Costco or a SPG from Costco.ca.

I was in Costco the other day and some guy had FOUR of the 36' Homak going through the checkout. I took a look and they look great for home use.

I was thinking of a bigger one and the specs on the SPG ones are great. I went to the SPG site and they really are a commercial quality box.

It served a purpose. It was a good box, rolled around fine, I would just prefer a different design. As you can see, I hate the flip up lid for the fact that I like to put stuff on the top. Mac has a box that splits in the middle and slides apart, so if you have something on top, you can presumably still open it if you are careful, or you can leave it open and still have a work space. This is what I would prefer. Also, the open bottom of the HF tends to magnetically attract random junk, not sure why :dunno:

But I had it for a few years, and it did what I needed, just swap some common stuff in and go where I had to work.

Two old craftsman bottoms, bs file cabinet 2 drawer, herman miller file cabinet, print drawer unit, snap on top chest, back side has shelf storage with door on bottom. Front door custom built track and door, rt side has a Matco two door cabinet unit, spot to hang spare air hose and cords. Mounted manual air hose reel hidden behind left side file cabinet. Not enough tool storage HA HA
AHH not truck roll cab quality but I use the S&&t out of it,.
Harbor freight 5 drawer is my new satellite box,
I will soon be buying a HF 56" box and ad on side drawer unit and cutting them up to fit in the bottom of my box to replace the two Cman boxes and fill it in evenly. Also just added the file cabinet and need to paint it Miller blue to match.
I work on Honda generators to 250 ton cranes with automotive thrown in.
And yep my nick name is Booger LOL

first post

I started looking at this thread to get ideas for organizing my toolbox and decided to join GJ just to post in it! Here's my setup at work...

HF cart where I keep most of the stuff I use frequently in case I need to be mobile











and a Snap-On Epiq 68" I bought new about 6 months ago to hold all the rest! I'm lucky to say that this is my first real toolbox(not counting the HF cart which I've had for over a year) and hopefully the last one I'll need...but some of you guys with the megazord boxes get me thinking :evil:

This is the automotive size brake tool set, right? I do heavy truck brakes often, and I have never found a good HD brake set I like, I get by with a vice grips for the springs just fine. I still need a spoon obiously for the wheels, but the rest is a prybar and vice grips.

Very nice Epiq box. They have good options for expansion, for sure.

Not my tool box, it's one of the old timers at work. He bought it new in '78. Most all old timers I work with don't like the big boxes

Braketechtools.com has some nice tools for truck brake springs.

I haven't got around to a full review, but it's absolutely 3 thumbs up!
TV ELITECOMBO5. 72" with Hutch and 2 lockers. 10 inches shy of ten feet.

I admire the oldtimers that keep they're tools that long.... i have a problem updating things occasionally to bring some stuff home, part of the prob is i dont need much at home!

Get him on board for some drawer pics !!!

Just had my box delivered today, here it is in its final resting place at our new shop.
I know, I need to clean all the fingers prints off it. But my stalls are from the 2 shop cars to the work bench by the fridge.

Yeah I know, most of the time I keep it nice. I'm not too inclined to clean it until this debacle of a motor home project is gone though :Help: I had to mod some rubber motor mounts to work for fan mounts so the entire box is covered in burned bits of rubber.

Homak would be decent for home use, a guy at my shop had one for 3 years and absolutely destroyed it... not meant for day to day shop abuse.

The two older mechanics I work with have smaller boxes and they are worn slap out.
One has a Snap On Taco box and the other has one of the smaller Snap On rollcabs with a top chest and a side locker. Still a small box.

The younger guys tend to use the big full drawer roll carts from Cornwell as their main boxes, backed up by boxes about 56" long that hold the stuff they don't use as often.

Me personally I like a big box and if it will fit in our shop, will probably wind up with a big 72" box with a hutch. I like to keep all my stuff organized as possible and I want a hutch to keep a PC and paperwork in.

For example, I really like this guy's 68" Epiq.
