I got SWMBO a couple of those metal office storage cabinets in the screen room, and she stopped using one, so one is mostly used as an extra pantry, and the other is mostly full of Coleman/Camp stuff...
Was going to buy a HF tool cart when I headed to Buffalo but ended getting a Gray Tools toolbox for cheap. Cleaned it inside and out, cleaned and greased the friction slides, new cam lock, bought 2 new swivel casters and then scored 4 casters from work which I used 2 of. Bought some drawer liners from HF which are top notch quality, almost like memory foam. Ribbed rubber mat on top, HF magnetic bar cut to size and bolted into push handle spots, extra magnets I used on top to hold the corners of the ribbed mat down.
Its a solid little box which cost way less than buying the HF cart, it's Made in Canada, all 4 corners swivel on a dime. I am happy with the way it turned out. I can sit on my mechanic stool and see into the top drawer with ease. Decided to put my fast grab tools inside, still have the big box if I need to dip into.

In the last pic, who makes those red handle oil filter pliers ??
Here is my set-up:
Gladiator work bench with two 40" craftsman's under neath. 1/2" wood painted red supporting tool boxes on the floor.![]()

That's a nice unused tool collection.

That's a nice unused tool collection.

Yeah had ****** tools for years and finally had enough money for good tools.

Ain't a damn thing wrong with that, good on you.![]()
Thanks! Yeah I had most of my tools stolen after I stopped working at a shop and started making lists of what I wanted. That was like 5 yrs ago. Finally started replacing them this year, the only thing i had left that I still have now are my snap On FD+ wrenches and the FLF80 black handle that I was able to trade up for the red one. I won’t be buying anymore hand tools after this...I hope.

Time to contribute my own box.
I inherited the box from my uncle milt, who was a heavy mechanic by trade. I got a few of his tools with it, mostly 1/2” fractional stuff. Some metric 3/8 snap on though, which is really nice as I mostly work on older Japanese motorcycles. Regardless it’s very cool to have his old tools and continue putting them to work. I replaced all the drawer sliders, liners, and combined my stuff with his. So it’s a total mishmash of brands, from Snap On, Matco and SK, to Stanley, MAC, and Mastercraft.

Right! I always sake my head seeing boxes filled with brand new shiny tools and not a speck of use.
jimmyin3D: what socket organizers are you using? never seen those before

Looks to be mostly magrails, they work great.Very efficient tool layout jimmyin3D. Exemplary use of drawer space. Thank you for posting those photos!

I always shake my head at people who shake their heads at people who have unused tools. Like their imaginations can't come up with any of a hundred legitimate reasons someone may have clean tools. It's funny, because I don't even have to use my imagination for that, given how many explanations I've seen on these forums. Like, their tools were stolen and they recently replaced them, or they keep them pretty clean due to working primarily in clean workspaces like labs or jet engines, or because they just like keeping their stuff in nice condition, or they just gave their toolset to their kids and rebuilt it with nicer tools they've wanted their whole lives, or because since they bought them their family has kept them out of the garage, or any number of other scenarios.
I don't even understand why anyone cares to be honest. I couldn't imagine going to a car meet and ragging on someone for having a well maintained car. "Wow, you must never drive this, because it's not completely beat up, dented, and dirty like my car over there."
We should all be happy when we see someone with nice tools, regardless of their use. It's not like anything in that person's toolbox is in extremely limited supply and their purchases prevented the tools from going to someone else who would have used them more. In fact, it's the opposite. The more high-quality tools someone buys, the more the manufacturers will continue to serve the market of high-quality tools. I salute everyone who buys nice tools, because it means the market will continue to exist.
I wonder if it's primarily envy. Like, why do they deserve nicer tools than I have when I'm the one that obviously uses and needs them more? I could understand that feeling. But in response, I guess I'd just urge everyone to remember that the other person buying those tools is still good for you, regardless of whether they use them or not, since it builds and perpetuates the market. That is even assuming they don't actually use the tools, since it's possible the tools are just new and they still will use them.
We're already a relatively small community of people who share an enthusiasm for tools and the possibilities they enable. I don't understand why we insist on dividing ourselves based on the reasons we like tools or the amount that we realize those possibilities. Especially when dividing ourselves based on the brands we like is way more fun.

Hey Jimmy... any info on the wrench rails for us? As others have said... Nice layout.![]()
Thanks! Snap On KRA15 wrench rails. I think they were like $10-$15 off Snap On website.
They were a bit long for the 22” depth in my drawers so I just cut them down. Used the leftover pieces to rack the Stahlwille deep offsets and mountain extra long wrenches. They’re honestly the best wrench racks, super customizable. They also have sticky tape on them but I didn’t take the wrapper off so I can move them again if necessary.

You do realize that he had all his tools stolen? Then you have a guy that needs to replace all his tools at once.
Plus I have lots of shiny unused tools too. Back in the day, when I didn't have any spare cash laying around, so not many tools, and cars that needed frequent work. So have have a small base of tools that are well used. Then about 25 years ago, I started making more money and a friend started his own repair shop. So when I'd see a tool that would have saved me time and effort in the past, I buy the set. I've had newer cars that needed less work. And access to a hoist at my friend's shop, where I generally use their tools.

Matt, I love your toolbox. So many thin drawers.
