I’ve been lurking on this thread for a decade. Just a home hotrod wrench turning tool junkie. Lol. I bought my USG 56” 4/12. I believe it had just come out at that point. It’s been 100% flawless. Added the 14” side box 4 years ago. Also have a 26” USG top on the shelving unit. I want a deeper 72” but I’m dreading the swap over. 😆. Here are a few pics.
Don't fear the swap, with your organization it will be painless. The hardest part will be the following few weeks until you get used to where everything is.
Once you get a deeper box you will wonder why you waited so long.

I know I know. Lol. Was looking at the ICON. Reading horror stories last night about the wait time and delivery nightmares. I always check CL and FB for used tool truck boxes but I’ve had no luck. Then last night I saw the newish husky professional duty box from HD looked sweet. Maybe they will be better to deal with. I research research and research then eventually throw my hands up and say my box is fine. Lol.

First time I’ve ever seen someone put a Craftsman emblem on a US General box! Snap On emblems seem to be the norm.

First run on the box had the USG emblems glued on. Some glue was showing around the emblem. Only one I could find that covered well enough. Lol.

My HF special that I dressed up for my own enjoyment... Couldn't justify getting a Snap-On post heart surgery cost wise but I wanted something that reminded me of my box I had when I was a mechanic and not in the field I am now....

Bud your wrench drawer is very clean but it killed me to see those poor strewn about stahlwille deep offset DBE's without a nice tidy home to live in.

Here's what I did with mine. I'm pretty sure the rack was a throwaway from a set of ratchet wrenches I bought.

Thanks for the tip. You are correct they need to be more organized.

After seeing the porsche factory race team garage in the pits at IMSA races, I was jonsing for an all white set of boxes like theirs.

Since I dont need snap on or lista quality, I needed something in my budget

Last summer I swapped out my red gen 1 us general 44 for two husky rolling work benches in white and an hf us gen tool cart. I debaged and destickered them and not sure if I want to keep ‘em blank or do something else. Note the two stickers on the workbench are actually magnets I threw on there when I sold my old box, I’m going to stick them on one of the tall cabinets instead

I still have my dads og box from back in the day and it not going anywhere

White looks great when clean, but in a real world shop difficult to maintain. Racing spoiled me for working on everyday driver cars as most underneath and under the hood are filthy. In a race garage a lot easier to keep clean.

That is a really nice setup, the flanking side lockers, and the bench top integrated with a side box and a 26” isn’t a combo I have seen this well executed. I would love to see more drawer and locker shots, it look like you have a ton of versatile storage there.
I'll take some better pics of it and show you some other things I did to make it suit my needs...

I upgraded my cart to another box, rearranged, and added a few things so here are some fresh drawer pictures. It's a Snap-on KRL1022, KRL1032, and KRL1232 combo.

IMG_8483.jpg

I forgot to take updated pictures of the top trays, but that's where I keep PPE, torque wrenches, engravers, number stamps, and stencils.

IMG_8492.jpg

This is probably my least organized drawer, consisting of automotive specialty tools and extractors.
IMG_8493.jpg

Drills and hole making
IMG_9016.jpg

Hex, torx, and room for expansion
IMG_8495.jpg

Measurement and layout tools, all in Schaller bins
IMG_9011.jpg

Pullers. That's a bolt grip puller set in the case below the custom sliding tray
IMG_8497.jpg
Larger electrical tools, plus some overflow press tools that are going to migrate onto a shelf once I get it built.
IMG_8498.jpg
More electrical tools - Fluke 87V, soldering irons, zip ties
IMG_8499.jpg
Electrical tools
IMG_8500.jpg

My Stanley Leverlock collection and circle templates
IMG_8873.jpg

Sockets. They're all from high end brands, almost all made in USA, but a mixture of brands.
IMG_8506.jpg

Wrenches. I actually did count these up, there are 262 wrenches in this photo: 41% Snap-on, 19% Craftsman, 13% Gearwrench, 8% Facom. 58% metric.
IMG_8507.jpg

Screwdrivers. I converted this drawer to all red, but it's a mixture of brands - Snap-on, PB Swiss, Mac, Facom, Wiha, Craftsman, Vessel.
IMG_8541.jpg

Pliers. Lots of different brands - Knipex, Craftsman, Snap-on, Klein, Mac, Channellock, etc.

Hammers
FullSizeRender_fEmUvdsBcVT8wiiy3UDuzd.jpg

Large wrenches, 3/4" drive sockets, weird shape and crowfoot wrenches. I have some room to expand, probably into S-shape and more large stuff.
FullSizeRender_eGV2B7AaePsJXUToo3sQ6H.jpg

Corded power tools
FullSizeRender_bc9vMhYEjt3At7WQy8KWCe.jpg

Hose picks and disconnect tools
IMG_9017.jpg
Interior tools and plastic scrapers
IMG_8934.jpg

Adjustable and pipe wrenches
IMG_9018.jpg

Saws, and space reserved for cordless ratchets once I decide which platform and take the plunge (Snap-on 14.4v or Milwaukee 12v)
IMG_9019.jpg

Impact wrenches and drills in my custom organizer. The back row is all 1/2" drive. The front row is two drills (one heavy duty and one compact), one 1/4" hex impact, and one 3/8" impact. All DeWalt 20v.
IMG_8164.jpg

The KRL1022 on the left is mostly fabrication and auto restoration tools, starting with air tools in the top drawer
FullSizeRender_72wainwG5gfqXUzG9pLfZy.jpg

Body hammers. The entire post-war Snap-on / Blue Point collection, plus a handful of others (Proto, P&C, Herbrand, Vaughan, Trusty Cook)
FullSizeRender_kJcFZG3fBBDGSycPeWXQZp.jpg

Scrapers
IMG_9010.jpg

Random screws that I use for fixturing and mock-up
IMG_8540.jpg

Sanding blocks
IMG_8522.jpg

Larger sanding blocks, stake dollies, spoons
IMG_8523.jpg

Files and deburring tools
FullSizeRender_d1Eu8WjiAoRMSAHZnRi6no.jpg

Putty and autobody supplies, including a folder with printed datasheets for most of the paints and chemicals I typically use
FullSizeRender.jpg

Tapes, sandpaper
FullSizeRender_oP69517r2rkrCXBhV33gtT.jpg

Rivet tools
FullSizeRender_2RowY5EnDqFtfUfMk7QhoT.jpg

Paint guns and related supplies

Thanks for watching!

Work box. We built custom machines mostly in aerospace. Large water jet cutters, stir welders, ultrasonic cutters, etc. mostly use Allen sockets because engineers have a hard on for SHCS. F6E78A27-D9A6-4DAD-9926-FCCE9BCBB3B4.jpeg

Is that a custom crescent/crowsfoot in the bottom middle?

White is the easiest to keep clean. Black is the worst. Everything in between varies according to how dark it is (the darker the color, the more dirt it shows).

Kennedy figured it out with the wrinkle brown finish. I never have to clean my work box and it always looks good, provided you can live with seeing poop brown everyday. 💩

Shopping for a new toolbox and comparing drawer layouts. What do people use that deep "bin" drawer for (bottom right corner in the USG 56 for example).
I've seen power tools stored chuck/anvil down in them but I use mine pretty often and would probably have them in a higher drawer. They seem like a candidate for a junk drawer ie "custom" bent/cut/shaved wrenches, homemade race installers etc.
