Just picked this BP up after a few months of searching. It was close to home and I was able to trade a couple of rifles I got from my uncles estate. Basic price of guns was around $600. It's heavy duty and very clean. Can anyone tell me how to determine the date of mfg? This one's made in Canada and has the stickers. I'm a happy camper.

Looks like a nice trade there.

Well I finally moved out of my cramped little road box. I committed the ultimate sin and bought a harbor freight roller for less than $300.

Sadly everything I have is stuffed in this road box right now. The shop will be done soon though. I'm tire of having to dig around every time I need something and it is overfull.

1/2" stuff. Old snappy inch sockets, new C-man metrics, a few old C-man deeps.

3/8" and 1/4", got some new (to me) Snap-on demilitarized goodies to go with the stuff I bought back in the early 90's

Inch wrenchs. C-man box and opens with a mix of US made Blue Points and Snap-on.

Nearly empty metric wrench drawer, probly get a set of C-man raised panels for my B-day in June.

Husky nut drivers with a few old Snap-on. I am one of those wierdos that uses nut drivers quite often.

Snap-on hard handle hex drivers. They are old military and pretty beat.

How about that hand carved hammer handle?

Air tools aren't in the box. All Husky (a gift :wtf:) except the 3/8" impact which is Snap-on.

Can you think about a Kennedy [USA made] next time?
Just my 2$. No offense intended. The HF will get you through the night.
I've seen them.

[I have 23 years pro wrenching].

What are yalls initial impressions with those HF boxes? They seem like a great deal to me...

I've been pretty satisfied. I only paid $279+tax. I had looked at them in the store and my friend has one. You'll also find a lot of positive comments on them here on the forum.

It did have one bad caster. I ended up calling the customer service line and they sent me a replacement. I think it's probably the best item at HF. I don't think I could have found a $300 tool box nearly this large or quality anywhere around here.

Before someone says it, there are no good toolbox bargains in my area. I check craigslist every day and I haven't seen the magical Snap-On bargains others talk about.

my suggestion is to buy the biggest box you can afford to pay cash for.
as you accumulate tools, you'll see what you like and dont like about the boxes you have. i started out with 26" wide kennedy boxes, and added on center sections, and a side box from there. most of my early stuff got traded in on larger SO boxes, after trying a couple other truck brands, and not being happy with them.

buy boxes and tools that are readily available to you, that way when warranty issues come up, you'll have better luck, and probably be happier in the long run. it takes time to accumulate/collect tools, dont rush out and buy everything at once, you'll end up with a stuff you'll never use, and ther will always be something you need

BTW welcome to the forum :)

Howdy! I'm posting here as a sort of introduction, and to thank kblazer87 for his help and patience that made for a smooth deal in the purchase of the last piece of my stack.
Its' a lifetime collection, 67 drawers, estimated weight 1800lbs. I'v had a good time reading along here, and really enjoy seeing the shop build outs. I live in the inner city, and my space isn't big enough to cuss the cat without getting fur in your mouth. Keep up the good work! I might chime in if I think I have something to offer.

wow... what do you have in your box? i dont see much of narrow drawers???

a lot of tools set and testing equipment in the blow molded cases, i didn't choose the drawer config. i bought it used, it came with top hutch, bottom box, cover and matching cart for $4000 in 2001 (box was made in 1999). i wanted just a 3 bay but the trucks wanted $10k and there was no used ones. ended up taking some stuff home (my old snap on taco cart and craftsman top box are at home) that i'm not going to use at the new job (3 years new :)) with the thought of more 3/4, 1" drive stuff and 1 1/8" and larger wrenches. and the last deal was a IR 261 in great condition (almost new) for $40 at the roadster swapmeet last year :spit:.

thanks dude. i was digging the green aswell but i love the orange. really stands out in the shop. i am getting some custom stainless steel mirror finish made because the snap on trimmings go for 500+ bux for five pieces! insane. the locker has some and i made another set when i get the other side locker. i will be posting pics of it when its all done. also, the rooler cart will have some on the handles and i will make a stainless steel top with the "S" etched on it. that way i can work on it and not worry about the top getting scratched! i see some nice setups here!

and i dont think i can beat the amount of adjustable wrenches that dude has! dear god!

heh, the locker will have to wait a little longer.

i bought the box as is, basically brand new, off ebay for cheeeeap a couple years ago. so luckily its been paid off since day one, but ive been trying to fill it with quality tools ever since, and mainly snap on, so far thats been eating my money every month. but getting down to the expensive basics right now (chrome sockets, extensions...) soon enough a locker will be mine.

Here are the two images that for some reason are not showing up on my earlier post.

Thanks for the comments on my post.

Sterff the coating on the wrenches is what is called plasti coat which the company has done. Klein, diamond, diamalloy, truecraft, malco, fuller, and channel lock just to name a few of the brands that I have.:bounce:

Mugen AP1 thanks for that comment but I don't think I would take a left nut for hard handle collection.:wtf:
