I have absolutely NO use for one of these but still want one. They are just so nicely done. This one^ is a gem.

Agreed thats about the niceset Gertner I've seen.

I have use, but also make up uses  -I have one very similar (and while nice, not THAT nice) plus 4 others in different brands/conditions (one may be a one off) but my true machinist tools are in Kennedy's mostly. Some are in that Gerstner that si similar (mostly measuring) My oldest daughter has one I got cheap, as it was damaged (drawer rails, very easy), and I fixed that, and she keeps her crystal collection in it. (she'd been begging for one for years...)

In ways, I wish I would have purchased a nice used one. I like the patina and wear marks the wood makes. Vintage ones look incredible to me. I could have saved money this way too. I struggle with even putting this in my garage, it’s that nice. My wife says it’s a big jewelry box, and she right.

That's true; my smallest wood box is a 100 YO Pilliod, only 6 drawers - 3 wide 1 deep half wide and 2 more half wide. It has my "Camp lantern and stove tools" , I've taken it on several Coleman get together " camp trips where we trade, buy sell, and repair/use the old stuff. I don't beat it but I also use it a lot. It sits on a parts cab next to my indoor workbench when not traveling.

That workbench has my largest wood box, and potentially the oldest (its the "mystery box", I believe its "shop made"... 2 rows of 7 drawer, 14 total (nether has the top compartment

That's a blast from the past. I bought a ****** expansion pipe for my Yamaha 125 Enduro back in 1972 or so.
****** had such a great reputation in cars, I figured it'd be a winner for sure. What a POS it turned out to be! I took it off after a very short time.

Yeah they had a run with Harley's for a while too. That also didn't last long...

I like FlowMasters (Cages) and Thunderheaders (Harleys).

Back in the day, I sold countless sets of Drag Specialties exhausts at the HD dealer. Not necessarily for performance, but they sure were nice quality. Several options for the tips too.

My little Beta C20L cantilever is becoming too small and unorganized, seems that i will need to purchase something different for these tools(maybe Veto backpack?), and put my wrenches and sockets in Beta (like it should be :p)

You‘re in AZ, where exactly?
I’ve got a blue point cantilever box that was my road trip box while I was working. I will make you a good deal on it. Shipping would kill a deal quick.

Yes, they can get heavy fast but I loved the organization when I used mine.
PM me.

Did some more thinkering and reconfiguring over the past couple weeks.

Thought about picking up US General/Husky 46", or even to step up to a 56" but for now this main bench and old boxes work for me still.

Second work bench in the back of the garage has a vise and bench grinder, there is also an additional diy bench I use for storage.

For mobile setup in/out of garage I have two rolling mechanics tool tables I picked up few years ago on sale.

To Mike, whoever you are here (at the 1:12:00 mark you say you post here) - and there's no need to identify yourself if you do not want to... I just want to say I watched the whole tool box tour.

Things that are incredibly impressive:

1. Your shop, tool boxes, tool collection, and how well used and well taken care of they are.

2. Your knowledge of tools and the practical use of them.

3. Your love of wrenching and your mechanical (and other trade) knowledge.

I hope you have given me insight/knowledge in the past and will continue to do so.

I’m halfway through the video tour and I can’t fathom just how you are able to remember how all those tools can be applied to specified tasks. It’s insane. Awesome tour! Also, it’s really cool seeing some machinist stuff finally make an appearance on the that channel.

Thank you very much.

I was fortunate to have a couple of mentors early in my career. As I watched them early on in my career, I thought how one day I wanted to be the "go to" guy for things as they were. I admired the knowledge and experience they both exhibited, and I thought one day I wanted to have that kind of experience under my belt. I guess a person needs to be careful what they wish for. One day your wishes come true when you least expect it and sometimes don't even recognize it at first.

Watching the video, and more importantly, reading many of the very complimentary comments, I quickly discovered that maybe I have achieved what I set out for all those years ago. I told my wife that as I began my career as a mechanic, I was more concerned with learning and providing for my family but watching the video, while it depicts an image of a lifelong career of acquiring tools, to me it was just tackling every and any job that came through the door, whether that door be at my full-time job or my home shop. I know there is something to be said about specializing in various makes or models, but I think there is also something to be said about working on a wide range of things and having some experience spanning across many types of mechanical items.

Finally got the big big metric sizes for my Mac cobination wrenches. I can probably get more in if I set the right side up like I do the left, but I'm happy with how it is at the moment in the wrench drawer of the cart.
I also have the 5 piece Icon set of DBE ratchet wrenches. Would like to know who makes the two largest ones you have and their sizes.

I spent quite a bit of time researching Veto Pro Pac the last few months. It took me a week of watching reviews and looking on their site repeatedly to get a feel for their product line. Their site isn't laid out great and their model name convention takes time to get used to.

I would look hard at the Tech MCT Blackout if I were you. Unless you need it as a backpack, then I can't help you, I didn't review their backpack models in depth.

IMG_2197.jpegPicked up this masters series a couple of weeks ago, thought about going with the epic, but I liked the hight of this one a bit more, and the price was a lot better than the epiq haha

I really like the triple full length drawers. Did you order it with blue trim, or was it on the truck already produced? Interesting color.

It was on the truck, he actually had 3 of them, this one was a trade in, I would love to be able to buy a new one in the color combo I truly want, which is just basic gloss black with the same blue trim, but I can’t afford that at the moment, maybe
Someone will trade one in haha, I love the full length drawers as well,

How do you like the US General cart? Aand what's the setup for the laptop/tablet mount?
I like it, I do wish I had a split top for a work surface, but it's better than going back to my box every time I need something. Laptop mount is literally just a clamp type desk mount on the side tray/table.

It isn’t much but I get by well enough, I do plan to add one of the HF full bank carts this year at some point though.

IMG_1104.jpeg
I got by on a setup like that through 16 motorcycles (including more than a few Ducatis), a Land Rover (UGH), a Land Cruiser (I still Have), and all my kids' and wife's cars over an almost thirty-year period.

*I just edited this because I realized it sounded like I was showing off my possessions; in reality, I was pointing out my bad mechanical purchase decisions and how I got by on that tiny box for many years despite that.

Craftsman did me just fine with those older boxes. Ultimately, the bottom cabinet was damaged, so now I have a US General 56" base with a side cabinet, a separate 27" bottom and top box, and my original 10-drawer (6 small, 4 long) Craftsman top box. I FINALLY have more storage than tools, at least for a little while.

**Updated with pictures.

Eventually, I will move those Wall Control panels left to fill in the gaps, but I'm not sure how this will all end up. I share the space to the left (out of frame here) with my son for some other hobby pursuits, so the cabinet is kind of a defining line.

Updated pics. I’m still of the opinion that Masterforce boxes are the best going for box stores. No problems in 6 years of ownership. Casters are aftermarket but not because the original failed. To be honest I don’t remember why I replaced them.IMG_2272.jpegIMG_2271.jpegIMG_2275.jpegIMG_2274.jpegIMG_2273.jpeg

The Wright Contour ratchet handle welded to the adjustable in MWEric’s box is interesting.
