Is that the new Snap On ball joint press set? Worth the money? Set I've got isn't adequate and I've been thinking of that SO set, its just on the pricey side.

Dude the BJP1 is worth every penny, no more holding random stupid cups and plates together, no million and one adapters for every balljoint, the stud is too long snap in an extender and your good to go.

I do like seeing tools nicely organized... it does help with efficiency for sure when you know where everything is and don't need to be digging around for it... its also easier to spot something missing...

Thank you. I could have more room if I took thing out of the cases but then it would be harder to find.

Not a bad collection for a Firestone employee.

I'm not sure how to take that one. :headscrat

I've worked for Firestone they don't like to pay their techs any decent rate, managers feel payroll is one of their best controllable expense's.

I got a little pissed at my OTC press after dropping the "adapters" ,aka sockets, for the hundreth time and melted it down with the torch.

What state? Some of the stores here ****, others don't. I suppose it depends on where you are. I'm not saying I like the job, but I do like the check.

Mass, I work for National Tire and Battery now, so much easier to make a good paycheck.

You do pads and rotors all around if your lucky and the sales guy changes it to r&r rotor 1 hour an axle, plus the bs brake flush your talkin 2.7 hours for a brake job.

Say your making 20 an hour thats what 54 dollars for a 600-800 dollar job.

On that same job i would be paid between 126-168 dollars.

I guess I'm lucky. I don't do very much in the way of brake jobs and oil changes. My store is the one always getting yelled at for doing too much engine work.

My shop doesn't have anyone with enough experience to do serious engine work. One kid on sat puts a cam sensor in a g1500 and then we have a cranking no start. I spent all of sunday on the thing trying to get it going to no avail.

Don't ask me how he f'ed up a cam sensor. As far as I could tell the thing should have started, we had fuel, we had spark we had compression and the timing seemed to be correct(hand cranking the engine watching rotor position). But I don't own a fuel pressure kit yet so the fuel pressure may have been way low, or the coil somehow decided to not pump out enough voltage.

I finally got a chance to take some pics. Here is my cart. It is nothing like some of these other collections on here but is mostly Snap On. I will post the toolbox next.

If the sensor is grounded through the fastener try checking for ground - I've found that on certain cars (like caddy 3.2 v6 CTS's) the crank sensors need a star washer to make a good ground, also have filed the fastener mount to make better contact w/ bolt and block. We had a similar situation once w/ a crank sensor that took 2 days to figure out the sensor wasn't grounding.

I guess I don't have a life...just spent way too long looking at about a hundred pages on this thread. I am pretty sure I did not see one claw hammer in these tool boxes. My guess is if someone on this thread needed to pull a nail out of a board they would use some overly priced and ugly colored vise grips to latch onto it and then hit the vise grips with a ball peen hammer. LOL

Not even close. The claw hammers are in another box in the basement with the pipe wrenches, stud finders, basin wrenches and the other "house" tools. Dad would NEVER hire a mechanic that had a claw hammer or pipe wrench in his working box. Always said he might call one of them back if he ever needed a carpenter or plumber....

Man there's a lot of eye candy in this thread. Good looking stuff guys, here's a shot of my junk. No drawer pics, my stuff is no where near as organized as some that I have seen on here. I just got a little motivation looking at some of your setups.

i keep claw hammers and "woodworking" type tools downstairs in my reloading/hobby room. "house type" tools are down there as well, even if i need to do any wood work thats too big to lug downstairs, i can always bring up what i need.

Not fair. Not everyone is showing an 'at work' box. And not everyone has enough boxes at home to separate mechanics tools from general homeowner tools. Granted, I do have most of those tools in another roll around - but I do have two claw hammers in my main box. They live with my ball peen and soft hammer. And my pipe wrench lives with my other pliers/adjustable wrenches.
Sorry - I'm not moving them.

Here is an update for mine. I just added the side box and painted all of the drawers black. I still need a Craftsman emblem for it. Eventually I am going to add another top and middle box next to the existing one. It should test the load limit pretty good :bounce: . I also drilled holes for the handle and mounted it on the side box.

My tool boxes are C-Man..... I was at my local Sears back during the summer and came across the C-Man AXS tool box... I knew these things were a little pricey for C-Man.. The box had been discontinued and it was locked. No one in the store had any keys for this thing.. I got it home, unlocked both boxes, plugged it in and everything works. Sears finally sent the keys 2 weeks after I bought the box...

Lousy picture, I'll get better ones eventually. It's a KLR 1022 with some add ons, stainless top you really can't see. Got the box as a repo, only had to pay what he owed so the SO guy didn't have to load it up... Rolled across the shop, kid who bought it almost cried as he didn't know I bought it till the dealer drug it over to my bay. Paid ~$3500 for the 1022, drawer trim, liners and stainless top. Retail receipt was over $8k, found it was under the bottom drawer liner. Paid cost for the hutch and bulk overhead shortly after I got the box. Just got the locker a year or so ago when they had a blowout on in stock stuff, i try to never pay retail.

This is nothing compared to what some guys have posted in this thread but I figured I'd share anyway. Found this old Dayton Electric Manufacturing Co. handbox at the flea the other day--cleaned it up a bit, personalized, and threw in some tools. I think it likes its new home rather than rusting away in a junk pile at the flea market.

Nice, Bigredmariner, I like the one on the right... beautiful set. That is a good question, how do you get the top open...

Ha! Yeah I don't get into the top of either one at the moment. They used to have plenty of room to play in my last shop. I am shopless at the moment but hope to get a new one built in the next year or so. Really stinks trying to do anything in a small 2 car garage.

I didn't have any pity, if you've ever been a line tech, he was a gravy sucker... all he did were customer pay timing belt/water pump jobs, and brakes b/c he couldn't be trusted with any real diagnosis. Wasn't the smartest with money either, I saved a bunch of money on my child support by switching to condoms, maybe he should have done the same.

Just wanted to update my pic. Thanks to crewchief888 for suggesting stacking the two blue boxes to give me more room. I used some 2x2 blocks to make it work and it gave me a nice little shelf as well. The new cabinet is great, I can fit everything I need and it's perfect for the laptop. This setup looks cheap to you MAC and Snap-On guys (and it is) but it's all I'll ever need and I can't justify paying any more for a box. I got the cabinet on sale for 85 bucks off.

I work in a small city garage with no overtime and a set salary so I don't make the big bucks like some of you do. :)

good deal, lookin' good

makin' do with what you have. nothing wrong with that. ive had my kr550/555 since '87, those are the biggest boxes i have, i was never a big fan of double, triple and quad bank boxes. to me they're way to hard to move when i need to.
with smaller boxes, i can rearrange my garage if i need to, or even move boxes/tools into the basement.
getting a quad bank into the basement wouldnt be a problem, getting it back out is another story :lol_hitti
