The Mac Impact is alright, it's nothing special but does have good torque and is lightweight composite. I used to use it for service work but i got a Snap on cordless impact for that so don'y use the Mac. I only bought the MG725 because it was on special with the Far7200 ratchet.

So I have been totally blown away by everyones tool boxes and tools, really bitchin!!!!

About ten days ago I finally pulled the trigger on a proper tool box now that the dust has settled moving into my house and now that I have a garage to put all of my stuff it was game on.

I have yet to see this particular tool box in this thread but I wanted to share a little bit of my experience with it.

This is HF's UsGeneral 56" 11 drawer wheeled tool box. I purchased it after contemplating buying the 13 drawer and adding the extra options to it. I have a friend that owns the 13 drawer and he always wished he would have gone with the larger one. So I said let's go get her. Well first off all I want to say that the packing that this box comes in is really first class and was loaded by fork lift at the store in great condition and traveled in my truck just as nicely. Un-boxing was like christmas as this is my very first tool box that does not have a handle. The box came out of the box with out a single scratch or dent. The build quality is really what I am most stoked about as it feels very sturdy and is made of very sturdy steel. Secondly it rolls with incredible ease and the quality of the locking system also seems to be of high quality. Drawer liners came with it and where very easy to cur as they where already cut to depth only needing width to be cut. the top has a sturdy but thin rubber mat and a butcher block is on the list to add to the top. The drawers slide extremely smooth with no vertical play but they do have a little side to side but its a none issue and they open one handed extremely well.

So here are some pics that I snapped.

Here is the top shelf where I keep my power tools C3 1/2 Impact, C3 Drill, C3 LED Light, various cleaning supplies, 2 maglite led's etc.

DSC_1519.jpg

Top Wide Drawer consists primarily of Blue Point 3/8's and 1/4" sockets extensions and Ratchets, Snap On Dual80 ratchets with some Craftsman tools sprinkled in.

DSC_1521.jpg

2nd Wide contains Williams Supercombo SAE and Metric (What a killer wrench.. wow)

DSC_1527.jpg

3rd wide contains a full Craftsman set that primarily lives in rollups for trips to Baja

DSC_1528.jpg

4th Wide contains a variety of hammers, hatchet, bit set serp belt wrench, lisle tie rod puller, pitman arm puller, spare wrenches etc

DSC_1530.jpg

5th Wide has some HF 1/2 deep impacts SAE and MM and HF Huge SAE Wrenches

DSC_1531.jpg

Bottom Wide is empty awaiting future tools

Top Side contains some spare sockets from an incomplete proto 3/8's set and some measuring tapes etc

DSC_1532.jpg

2nd Side has a 44pc. Crafstman screwdriver set (Wish I would have got the pros)

DSC_1533.jpg

3rd Side has some channel locks, craftsman snap ring pliers and the orange are one of my favorite tools... Fiskars snips. These scissors are incredible I keep one in my truck one on the ambulance and one at home.

DSC_1534.jpg

4th Side has some spare sockets, HF electrical kits and fuses

DSC_1535.jpg

5th and final has a spare off road light, HID conversion and some lens covers

DSC_1536.jpg

Still not decided on all of the organization for the drawers but it is working so far.

Thanks for checking out my first tool box and please any comments, input, ideas and tools to add are extremely appreciated as I am here to learn!

Can someone recommend a side prybar, long extension box that hangs off the side of the tool box for such tools I have seen them on snap on boxes and was wondering what you guys recommend!

Baja, congrats on the new box. Looks good. For me I tend to like the deeper drawers near the bottom, they seem to start at the top, then low pro the middle and go back to deep. With all that new space you have a good justification to get more tools to filler her up. Be sure to show us the pics when you get the butcher block top.

I googled the pry box, and from the pics I've seen, it's meant to bolt on to a service cart using existing mounting holes. I know you don't want to drill holes on your new box, but you might be able to use the existing holes meant for the side handle on your box.
If the holes on the pry box don't match up you could take a piece of flat aluminum stock to make it fit??

@bajabound you do not want to put a pry bar box attachment on that box. Just put them in the long drawer. The CM three piece set comes with a tray and can be had for $19.99 when on sale. The Pro CM looks nice but for home use, just get the regular ones. I must say that you have lots of wasted space in your wrench setup. Do the spring holder wrench setup or get some wrench holders. Consolidate to one drawer.

The williams are going on a ernst space saver. The craftsman will go back in a wrench roll up or if the ernst setup works well with the williams I will get another set.

Please keep the info coming guys, I really appreciate it!!!

Here's a pair of drawer units I bought about 25 years ago. I'm not sure of their original purpose, but their great for tools and other odds and ends.

Each pair of drawers will pull forward and lock in an angled position. The individual drawers (one pair per slide) are also removable.

Looks like a file card cabinet from a library, Nice use of it and lots of room though

parts are for the parts dept
I agree, but, we do alot of inspections which include an oil change. I try to keep a few extras of popular filters in case we run out. That way, my lift isn't ******* waiting on a filter. That is until I buy more tools to go there.

I guess its my turn guys. I've been lurking on this board for about a month now, and am finally making my first post. My collection is not anywhere near as impressive as most of what i've seen here, but it serves my purposes well as a weekend mechanic. I'm a newer homeowner, and this is my first actual box and the first garage thats ever been mine. Its about the lowest in the line of craftsman boxes you can get. But again, it serves its purpose for me, and for $150, i can replace it in a couple years with something nicer and not feel like i wasted money.

The cabinets were claimed from a friend that was remodelling a kitchen. Top cabinets hold mostly my car detailing / maintenance supplies and fluids. Bottom right cabinet is hand power tools and a few other big items (bench grinder, small electric air compressor/inflater). Currently, the work surface is serving as a drying rack for my hockey equipment :headscrat

In the box:
Drawer 1-pliers, cutters, stripper
Drawer 2-combo wrenches (i need to add to this collection, i know)
Drawer 3-screwdrivers
Drawer 4-various bits/drivers/extensions/adapters plus precision screwdrivers
Drawer 5 (bottom box)-Sockets/ratchets
Drawer 6-Hammers, filter wrenches, various other items
Drawer 7-drill bit/driver set, bigger 1/2 in drive sockets, ratchet, and breaker bar

Enjoy

Hi and welcome to the posting/tool acquisition sickness:
You don't have to apologize for what you do or don't have, or how much better some guy's tool box is compared to you. People have what they have based on their age, experience and how much cash they can plow into it. As a homeowner, you're not going to have the ready cash available that a pro wrench twirler can afford to put in just because it is making him money. This hobby is making you happy. And from the looks of it, you have more than enough stuff to get any basic job around the shop, garage, home finished up without a lot of hassle. I for one have too many tools (don't tell my wife that), yet not all of them get used all the time and I could do most auto stuff with far fewer items than what I have available. My father was one to always tell me to make do with what I had, and for the most part I try to accomplish that. When you really need or want something, go out and buy it. If you've got some time and energy, hit some garage sales or craigslist and see what is available. I've had a hoot adding to my sicknes, er, collection, by going that route and you get most of the items for pennies on the dollar -- and some great scores that way. Just my 2 cents worth.
Cheers,
Jim Don

Thanks Jim. And thats my plan. We live in a neighboorhood thats is occupied by a lot of "older" and/ or retired people. We're young, but love how quiet it is. I've actually already impressed a few of the older men neighbors with all the work i'm capable of doing myself. The other nice thing about the neighboorhood is the ungodly amount of garage sales. So i will be making my way to all of them that i can starting this summer. Cant wait to see what i can score

I don't have any drawer shots, but I can assure you, the tool boxes cost more than the tools that went in them :( The garage is still a work in progress, but it is getting there...

Very nice. What's the brand on those cabinets?

Those look to be Lista toolboxes. Expensive, but some of the best made. I recently picked up a used Lista box that someone painted over for $300. I'm trying to decide what color to paint and that black with red drawers looks great although i might just go with a light blue like most Lista boxes.

I really love it!!! It is a very nice box as far as build quality and how it works. I was skeptical at first but once I got to see it in person it was a done deal! Now I just want to fill it! lol
