Looks like the older wrinkle finish on the side boxes. Nice setup!

For the money, I'd almost consider a second 44" box. In the space I have, I don't have room for the top box.

Here is my current setup at work. Napa Cart, Snap On KRL7003, Mac Side cabinet and a small cabinet to hold all my spare parts/Nuts and Bolts. Almost out of room with this setup. But its all paid for.

I did that recently on my box. I have had it for about 20 years and always needed a stool to see the top few drawers because I also have a mid box. It was one of those DUH Moments when I realized I could remove the casters and drop the box by about 6". It was a great decision.

Tom

Did my first mod this morning - immobilised my long legged monstrosity by removing all of its 4 castors. The step up box added some instability to the whole setup as the centre of gravity moved upwards. I'm very pleased with how sturdy it is now, not to mention the looks! The weight of the tools helps as well.

Here's the before and after:

joe93...wow!!

I hope that's a good thing. I know it all doesn't match but I buy all my stuff used for cheap. Mac side box was 300. KRL was 2500, Napa cart was 399 and my little cabinet was 25. It's all full of Snap on, Cornwell, Mac, Matco, Craftsman, harbor freight and Kobalt. I would say 75% of my tools were used when I bought them.

Nice, I did an 8 month stint at a firestone last year, couldn't stand having managers that didn't even have their high school diploma. Drove me insane how uneducated they were.

I hear you. I am lucky all our front shop guys are older ex-techs. It helps having someone that knows what they are talking about.

I was offered a lead tech position at a BSRO Firestone store last year. My current job gave me a counter offer that beat them out so I had to decline. It may have been a good thing after all. The store they wanted to put me in (re-opening of an independent store) looks like a complete ghost town every time I drive by it.

I also work at firestone and overall it a good place to work its nice to have more rules and policy set in stone versus a small shop where there are less standards. The benefits are pretty good compared to alot of shops in my area. The pay ***** and the flat rate times are way to low IMO compared to when i worked at a chevy dealer but that place sucked for many other reasons...

Can anyone tell me what this is and its value, NEW

Hello,

I Tried researching this box everywhere. A kid brought it to my store to sell for him, claims his dad worked for snap on (DAD died I guess) and he wants to sell it. first I want to investigate to get his story straight. he claims that snap on gave this box to their employees one year. But I posted it one eBay and I am not a snap on expert by any means but someone messaged me and said this was a student series box??? like they downgraded components and sold them cheaper to students? BTW this has no ball bearings... Anyway I priced it on eBay according to a similar looking box on snap on website and thinking there is something special about it. I am beginning to suspect theres nothing special about it and certainly don't want to have a box on my eBay store that is worth $500 for example and have it listed for $2500 along with some kids potentially BS story, Not saying it is, I just dont know. Any help would be appreciated. Does anyone know for SURE what this might be?

I think you'd get more responses if you started your own thread to ask your question. There are plenty of folks on here who know all about the different S.O. boxes. I'm just not one of them.:dunno:

Oh, and welcome to GJ.

I'll play along. I'm just a weekend car guy. I work on my own stuff and that of my friends when they need help. I'm slowly but surely getting the stuff I need, but hey...its a start. I started with the tall red Craftsman, filled it up then got a cheap grey Craftsman of the same size on a black friday sale a few years back. Filled it up, then sold it and got the HF 44" roller. I've been pleased with the HF unit thus far. It filled up pretty quick...so I'm not sure what my next move will be.
ON TO THE PICS! :)

Anyone have a krl1022 in orange with black trim? Bonus points for a riser. Thinking of making my trim black, with cf drawer guards.

That is a great use of a toolbox! Nothing beats good food and good boxes.
Well, I *had* to buy the toolbox (guy agreed on $75), but the 1000sqft garage was already full to bursting with 7 rollaways, numerous top chests & who knows how many portable toolboxes etc. So I justified the purchase by deciding to have it powder coated & put it in the kitchen. At my old place the microwave sat on top of it.

I can't talk my wife into anything like that in her kitchen, for some reason.

my custom made kra2422 in flat black came with gloss black trims but i had my dealer hunt down the red trim pieces it took him over 3 months to have snap on send all the pieces and this week he finally installed them. so far i love it! i also made the top myself before the trim pieces came in. its 1.5 inch thick birch maple stained and epoxy coated came out perfect!!

also had him order the trim pieces for my KRSC46 to have the matching red trim!

as far as i know I probably am the only person to have this combo setup in the Classic series and matching cart...

First post outside of the intro thread and test section. I just brought home this cabinet.

cabinetfrontd.jpg
[/IMG]

Found it on CL under the rummages section. Turned out to be from a hospital and is set up for file cards, transverse layout. There are ten drawers total and each has 4 removable trays. I plan on using this to clear out the old craftsman set I got from my dad, as well as consolidate all my misc. hardware and blades/wheels, etc. Any thoughts on good casters to keep this mobile? BTW, empty this thing has to be at least 250lbs and I think I got it for a song, $50 otd.
Here are a few more pics of the drawers.
