Screwdrivers
Whatda think?

Good idea. I'm going to try this for my screwdrivers. I've had two of those magnetic holders forever and don't use them for anything.

Not a BIG box or a Snappy, Mac or Matco, but I just got another one of these 6 drawer, 16" deep Husky boxes today...IMAG0229.jpg

Normally 189. With HD's "New Lower Price" it's now 159. It was a display so the associate gave me some $$ off, and I walked out the door with it for 115.
It's a heavy unit and I believe it's made by Waterloo. (judging by the part #). Sears had a unit with the EXACT dimensions for 259. No way. Even at 189, I prolly wouldn't have gotten it, but I need a match for my other set up, so it's perfect.

Gents,
Looking at a vintage SO, 36" X 24" X 29" (LWH) on ebay about 90 miles from my house in Maryland. I need the top half of a set and the guy agreed to separate and sell for $650 Also been considering a 40" Craftsman that I just missed the sale and it's back up to about $485. Do the old SO drawer's slide anything like the newer brg drawers? Are parts available for the old boxes? Any comments on the older SO quality?

Here is mine, recently bought Bacho. Price tag said 399 €, then I have 10% off in that place and then I can lift of the value added tax as I bought to my business made the final price about 300 €. I haven't had any real high quality boxes to compare with but compared to our kind of Harbour Freight or so big box stuff it feels very sturdy. I haven't realy moved in to it so no use to make pictures of half empty drawers.

I've never had a tool chest before, prefered pegboards so far. What I don't like is that I can't find those nifty holders for organising tools that I've seen you have. I mean, I will not buy new tools with their organisers just because I bought a tool box and haven't found those holders on sale here.

Kunkernator, where did you get that 75th anniversary ratcheting screwdriver? ;) just kidding.

You're better set up than I was just out of high school.

I like the gloss finish HF switched to on that cabinet. Mine is the crinkle finish and it's filthy and tough to clean.

Thanks a bunch!
That 75th screwdriver is sitting there and will never be used, just so I can see it everyday.

Yeah, I loved the idea when it came into my head. It fit perfectly in the Craftsman box. I have flatheads going one way, phillips going the other. Easy organization, and it keeps everything from moving around.....
Now all I have to do is figure out how to store my T-handles inside without taking up a whole drawer.

Gents,
Any comments on the older SO quality?

i have SO boxes from '76 through '94.
most bought new off the truck, others bought used (trade ins) off the truck.

of the 5 roller cabs, 4 top boxes, 3 mid boxes, 5 side boxes i've bought over the years, i've replaced one set of friction slides in a heavily loaded roller cab drawer.

most of my boxes, (especially my work boxes, i've worked on const eq for almost 30 years) are heavily loaded, boxes in my garage have more than the usual amount of tools in them for the "average" wrench turner

Pardon the horrible mess in my garage but here are my tool boxes. Six 9-drawer Stanley Vidmar cabinets with top chests. I used to be a Snap On box junky til I got these.

My KRL1003

Bought new around 94/95 and traded my 3 piece Matco set towards it. Made the top myself out of 3 2x12 oak boards.

It's a mac , don't know the model number off hand, it's at work. I can get it and report back. Also, the stickers kinda hide the years of using it to make money, it's been a road warrior but has finally found a home. John

ah i see the mac emblem now :eyecrazy:

probably a mb5XX something or another, just curious, i sorta like the small drawer layout.
gonna have to start the hunt for a replacement 26"w x 18"d top box for my service truck.

I really like that box, especially the orange color.

Must admit the colour was one of the main 'buying points'. There are top boxes available, think I must invest. Could be nice to have one made in the same time. As time goes they tend to change a detail here and there, colour tone changes a snip etc.

I really like that box, especially the orange color.

bought this monstrosity from Josh at Shop Top Tools in PA. Don't ask how much it cost. KRL1004 quad cab bottom roller with 2 side lockers, a riser, 2 side chests and 2 top lockers. I think its about 13ft long. Looked like it was a demo box or just something that was taken care of EXTREMELY well. Only very minor blemishes, easily a 9/10 condition. Haven't transferred all my stuff yet. We have been working out of a top and bottom craftsman box for the last 7 years. Big upgrade :)
