While I love your setup, I don't think it would work for me....I like to have my boxes on wheels, due to the fact that I like to take evrything out of the garage every so often to redo the epoxy floors...Do they make caster kits? Or have you ever considered adding/building casters? Or do you just not have the need?

bought this monstrosity from Josh at Shop Top Tools in PA. Don't ask how much it cost. KRL1004 quad cab bottom roller with 2 side lockers, a riser, 2 side chests and 2 top lockers. I think its about 13ft long. Looked like it was a demo box or just something that was taken care of EXTREMELY well. Only very minor blemishes, easily a 9/10 condition. Haven't transferred all my stuff yet. We have been working out of a top and bottom craftsman box for the last 7 years. Big upgrade

All I have to say is....WTF is that! Words...I am at a loss for words. Can't decide if you are supposed to sail it or reside in it...it's HUGE!

This is probably not the thread to ask this question, but why do you have to redo your epoxy floors every so often? I thought they were supposed to last and wear like iron.

Here's my box. Nothing fancy. Might make aluminum drawer pulls for the 526 so that it matches the other cabinets. I had too much **** around in the shop and couldn't justify parting with the red Waterloo. Maybe down the road I'll find another kennedy roller chest and sell it the Waterloo to a mechanic.

It's nice to have everything in one place.

Is it just me or does it appear that most of the big dollar Snap On boxes are filled with big dollar Snap on tools that look they have never been touched by human hands never mind been worked to earn their keep? My boxes and tools look well worn because I actually use mine rather than just polish them to show them off.

FWIW im a professional welder (the kind with nuclear quals every year). Day in and day out i am under a hood welding. I work in a job shop and i do everything from tig welding the parts that makes your toilet paper to rebuilding underground loader buckets, to fabricating CLET's for Oak Ridge radioactive containers.

I dont have a toolbox worth 10 grand. I bought two craftsman 41" boxes with top chests for 50% when i worked at sears in college (Virginia Tech, M.E. , at the age of 21). They sit a fab shop literally covered in grinder dust (i blow them off every afternoon before i leave as i lock up the shop) and anything else that gets thrown on them (burning grease, molten metal from arc gouging or cutting, or the random sonofabitch tool that gets thrown my way for bring a pain in the *** foreman (at the age of 27)) .... and you know what ...

i wash and wax them every 6 months.

my cheap craftsman tools ... they look brand new. And i would bet a years salary that im harder on my tools than 75% of the people here. Why? because i get the job done no matter what in a heavy duty fab shop.

why do they look new? because i degrease them before they go back in my box. If you ratchets get **** around the snap ring ... i take the whole thing apart and clean it and re-grease it. i spent over an hour (off the clock) every single day cleaning my tools before they go back in their proper place.

My $350 miller elite welding hood .... wiped down every day. once a month, i polish the plastic.

Same with my $400 Titanium 9400I, and my $1300 speedglas PAPR.

I work my *** off every day. I have worked hard to buy my tools and my tools worked a lot harder than i do to make me money ...

so i take the time to thank them by taking care of them. IF they are dirty or greasy or just smudged (polished ratchets are ****, never again) i take the time to clean them ... DAILY.

I hear the same thing from the ignorant rednecks at work as im hearing from you (not saying you are an ignorant redneck ... and not saying its a bad thing ... im one! grew up on a farm in east tennessee and im proud of it!) ....

they are in their 50s or 60s, make less than i do, cant afford their beer (borrow money from me weekly for beer) and have ****** tools that let them down every day. why? probably because they dont take care of them ...

correlation does not equal causation. Just because a tool looks new does not mean it has not earned its keep. Perhaps it has earned its keep so proficiently than the owner just takes care of it?

It is not the same I am waiting for a good krsc46 promo so my cart will match my box again. Already told my driver if a good promo comes just go ahead and get me one we will work out the details later. The current promo is 13% off that is not good enough for me. I did pretty well price wise on my JSC 750 cart so not in a huge hurry to get rid of it unless the deal is right.

I got a ratchet I haven't spent an hour cleaning in 20 years and is still at 50% of its service life. Its not in its "proper place" its on the bench where guys use it. I expected it to be worn out 10 years ago.

We are not talking about a disregard of tools but mine are going to last a lifetime and then some without regular wax. In a nuke its a different world, you can nose pick as long as you want? As for grease I know people that can find it, they think its a law they have to lean and roll in the stuff and its too great to wipe a gob first before jambing a socket full but after doing this type of thing for a while have it to the point it takes about 5 minutes a day to actually take care of a few hand tools.

I will agree you are likely more diligent than the next broke beer drinker, the polishing has kept you out of the bar. The fussiness is an asset in critical work. One of the things I look for in experienced men is a throttle, I look for this in young guys too, its probably one of the high assets that really get overlooked on 'resume" job application type hiring.

I had a guy work for me for short time that was a pig, thought everything should be his to break and trash, not so deliberate but just stupid and careless with a touch of lazy,,, not the kind that drives a mechanic to find a better way but a careless type.

He worked for a dealer body shop near 4 years, I bet it was a sigh of relief when he left, I cant imagine being real successful in a rigid environment with others, they must have cursed him daily.

But take this guy from the nuke and put him on a garbage compactor reman and he is just abut as useless in a lot of cases. If he rolls in the grease he wont last here if he wants to polish tools for an hour he wont make it either.

What is under your cabinets? They appear to be a thin sheet of white something that the Listas sit on.

There's a layer of box cardboard underneath but it's not visible. The light grey line is a paint - these had a little bit of surface rust on the bottom probably from years of mopping/cleaning the floor around the cabinets so after removing the rust I hit them with Rustoleum 7381. It is the same colour as the bench and the drawers - RAL 7035.

Any info on this bench? Purchased, built etc.

I purchased some angle steel and steel box section on ebay and had the bench welded in my garage. I don't weld myself so I hired a welder for a few hours. Then painted and fitted a solid oak worktop. Approx dimensions with the worktop - 7ft W x 3ft D x 3ft H. This is how the bench was built:

I have a mix match, blue craftsman roll cab, Kennedy 526 top and a Chinese Gershner middle box. would like to get a middle box like what you have there.I bought a snap on classic 60 on cl to replace the roll cab, just haven't taken it in yet.

Hey new to the forum. Recently purchased from original owner a 1939 Snap On K300 Rolla Bench and 1941 K55R. In pretty good shape for their age I thought.
