LOL not even close to all those Snapons and Matco boxes out here. Just don't have that kind of money. I got this 40 inch Husky box not the strongest box, Harbor Freight was the one I wanted, but for 299.00 this thing has a lot of storage and is just as good as lower end craftsman boxes. Doors are 36 1/2 wide and 16 inches deep, plenty of shallow drawers with various heights. The metal is just about as strong as Aluminum foil :dunno:, but for a weekend mechanic, and around the house home improvement it will do just fine. Just ordered Pig Grippy liners should be here soon. I also made some socket rail boards let me know what you think, got the rails from Harbor Freight 3.99 x5 plus a small thin piece of plywood only cost 25 bucks

.

i did a similar thing with my socket boards. i used the steel ones, and 3/8 plywood:

the 1/4 and 3/8 chrome rack:

and in the drawer:

and the 3/8 & 1/2 chrome/ impact rack:

and in it's drawer:

before switching to all impacts:

before the side cabinet mod:

as it sits now:

all in a HF 5 drawer cart BTW. not all of us have the snappys, macs, matcos, or cornwell stuff... :)

Kool nice set up you can't beat them at a buck a piece. Here is my set up

totally. the ones off the truck have 4 or 5 rows, riveted to a steel plate, cost 25+

some scrap plywood, dollar can of flat black spray paint, silver sharpie, and 5 dollars worth of socket rails. 19 bucks cheaper and completely custom. cant beat it.

Thanks Churnscrx but I still rather have your box, would be nice if they had it in black though.

Yes, I am very happy with my HF box, and it's a great value for what you get. That said, I'll still have to purchase the top box for an additional $269. That's $628 for a top and bottom vs. your $299. In my garage I need all the storage I can get, so that's why I seriously considered that particular Husky. I'll be interested to see how yours holds up over the years. Oh, and I like black much, much better than red. I just don't feel the need to shout out...Look at me I have tools. I digress...

So today the Mac guy came and bought back his junk cart from me.so I had to move the tools back to the my box.suddenly I realized I'm damn near outgrew my box withing ten minutes of organizing.some socket rails for torx and hex sockets will help with room in top drawer but almost all others are packed.
So now I need a cart, snappy said he had a deal on a krsc326 only to find out he was getting the bigger 42 cart, so now I'm thinking about a krsc33a in gloss black but I'm not to excited about the kra type drawer liners that slide every where, the Mac cart was junk but I did like the grippy drawer liners.

How in the world did you get pics that big to load up and yet pics from my crappy digital camera won't load because they exceed the data limit?

That is awesome

Disorganization is one of the best ways to prevent theft / borrowing. If they can't find it, then they can't take it. :lol_hitti

As long as he gets his work done, I could care less if he used a pickle bucket to store them in.

ill semi agree with the disorganization :lol_hitti

but that get his work done thing...meh. he slays me on flag hours but my car count DESTROYS him. its typically a 3 or 4 to 1 ratio. if you ask me its always easier to flag 8-10 hours on one car, than to only flag 3-4 doing oil changes all day for three tenths per car. up, down, up, down, up, down, all day long...

When you said "lead tech" I assumed that he was your #1 guy.

I'm sure your lead tech appreciates your posting of his cart without his knowledge (not).

he is but he isnt, he's our only flat rate tech, the rest of us are hourly, so technically he pulls rank.

i told him about it. he knows he's a slob, and he makes jokes about it. :dunno:

Upload and link photos from photobucket or another photo hosting service, not directly to gj itself.

Yeah, but if YOU can't find your stuff quickly / easily you won't spot something borrowed / missing and run higher chance they'll loose your stuff for you permanently / be long gone by the time you notice it.

Better update this thread with my new box. Traded in my KRL 722 and got the MB1080. Only paid 400 on top of trade for that much more room, I feel like I got a damn good deal there, especially since I'm not a ******** "specific" brand guy. It had more room, therefore I liked it!

So let me get this straight, you post pics of a workers work situation on a public forum

are you a coworker or an employer? I'm trying to understand the motivation, I'm taking it you want to bag on him publicly. So if you are the employer and you have an issue, fire him. if you don't then why take this action? If you are a coworker, what's your deal, are all the areas on your side of the street clean? and i'm not talking about tool box organization. live and let live, obviously management haven't fired him so they must have a different view. :headscrat

If my neighbors posted pictures of my messy garage in a public forum, I'd be livid.
If my neighbors posted pictures of my dirty cars in a public forum, I'd be pissed.
If my neighbors posted pictures of my unmowed lawn in a public forum, I'd be angry.
If my neighbors posted pictures of my disorganized toolbox in a public forum, I'd be mad.
If my neighbors posted pictures of my beautiful projects in a public forum, I'd be proud.

To each his own.

To each is own to be sure...

However, you do realize that Google earth can do all of the above without your knowledge, right? Of course the messy garage is only possible if you leave the door open. That's why in my house the garage door is never open, even when we're working in the yard. Just saying...

Here's a few pics of the garage's little box. Pretty much just the necessities but it gets things done. Left most of the other tools in the shop.

about box organization... i was in aircraft maintenance for 6 years; and as we all know it has extremely strict tool control. now i'm working on cars it's just a whole different world, sometimes it takes my boss 20 minutes to find a tool. meanwhile, the other tech i work with has the same unorganized pile of tools, but he somehow knows exactly where everything is, its effin magical.

i personally don't care how the guy next to me organizes or doesn't. but it does make for a good laugh when it takes him 45 minutes to do a 20 min job.

When I first started wrenching I learned very fast how bad it feels to either not be able to find the right tool or to lose one. Now I'm obsessed with making sure that everything has its place and makes it to that place at the end of the day. Not only do you find the right tool quickly but you also know when something is missing. I don't have the largest or most impressive tool collection at work but I like to think that if anyone chooses to borrow something from me it's because it's so damn easy to find :D

it actually was alot more simple than that, someone posted a pic of their dirty after a hard day's work tool box, and i posted his to relate.

no nastiness implied or involved. no hard feelings either way.

if you were to compare his cart to mine, mine is far more organized and clean, but thats not the point. i was just trying to relate to someone on this forum, nothing more nothing less.

im his co-worker. not the employer. i do live and let live. there was no malice intended in my post.

i honestly dont know where you guys are getting the rage from.
