Some people prefer to look "professional". If I went to a mechanic and their box was beat to ****, I would get back in my vehicle and go to the next shop (and have). If they can't even take care of their money maker, why in the hell would they take care of my vehicle? There's no reason for a box to get beat up, other than being careless.

Most people have seen pictures of my box, and I get complimented on it weekly by people that make more in a week than I will in a lifetime. Every one of them says it's nice to see a box that's taken care of in front of their plane, rather than some of the other beat up ones.

People at work have been told to get new boxes for this very reason.

I think that box looks great, and the work done on it is excellent. I'm a fan of original boxes. If I knew nothing of two mechanics and saw one with a box with "war wounds", and one like adam's, adam would have my business guaranteed. It's obvious he takes pride in what he does.

Thats all very good but most people don't bang up their own boxes, they go to lunch and find some idiots rammed a truck into it and buckled it,. Then no one saw anything. What you supposed to do, batter everyone that came in and about and all the other employees? If you had ever been to prison for something petty you would know its not worth it.

I came back from lunch one day to find my box and contents dumped on the floor. I had neglected to lock it before I left, and someone did me a "favor" by moving it.

The drawers rolled out, and over it went. I did not go ballistic, but it was difficult to keep my cool. The shop owner paid for the damages.

I don't work in a crappy shop like that, so I don't have to worry about it. If I did, I would be getting a new job. I would also demand the shop owner find out who did it and hold them responsible. I've had my box scratched twice, and both times it was touched up by the person that scratched it before I even knew it happened.

If it did happen and nobody claimed it, that's why I have insurance.

I recently scratched a brand new Snap-On side cabinet a guy had for three days. I offered to buy him a new one. He said to not worry about it, but to be nice, I bought him a bottle of touch up paint from the Snap-On lady and touched it up, then gave him the bottle.

In the environment that I work in, I go to the work, the work does not come to me. With that comes the danger to my Box. I have to go out in a production area where there are cramped isles with fork lift traffic. there was one day that I went to lunch and when I left my Box was tucked up tight against the wall and when I got back to my box after lunch it was moved, and one of the drawers were hanging open, they some how managed to catch that open drawer ( I don't recall if I left the drawer open or not) pop it out if the slide, and tweek the side of the drawer. I know who did it as he was the only on in the area with the lift truck, but nobody saw him do it so I am SOL. Later that same week, another of our careless lift drivers was delivering a scrap container to the production area, the containers are on casters, as he was coming up to the doorway he dropped the forks while still traveling, when the tub hit the floor it started to roll, the bin traveled over thirty feet and turned a corner and hit my box with enough force to dent the corner of the box. This guy came and told me about it, but I do not know if it because one of the guys that works for me saw it happen.

I can't believe your management doesn't hold people responsible for that. Where I work, your *** would be fired if you didn't pay to fix the other person's box.

You're a stand up guy nissan_crawler.

Eh, it's just the right thing to do. I was just happy I didn't have to buy a snap-on end cabinet that wasn't even mine. :spit:

It's no different than what I expect though. If somebody scratched my box and they didn't say anything to me or do anything about it, I would be headed straight to management. Luckily, I don't work with that kind of people, though.

There's a difference between an old box and a beat up box. There are plenty of old boxes with typical wear and tear at work, then there are the ones that were just plain beat. There are 1-2 year old Snap-Ons at work that look 10x as bad as my 6.5 year old Craftsman.

And just WHY people would do that to something that costs several thousand dollars, usually a good months + of their paycheck is something that I will never understand.

I looked at one box where I go get my sandblasting done. They also do bodywork and painting. There box is covered in overspray, due to how small the shop is, and it also is the workbench due to size. But the shop is theirs, and paid for, and with all the other environmental restrictions that would be enforced if they expanded or moved into a new location, they said they would repaint the box when they chose to retire.

Can't prove who hit it they said that there is nothing that they can do about it. Ya it *****. which is part of the reason I try to not leave it in the shop any longer than I need to. It is not very often that I do not roll it back to my office at the end of the day.

Nissan, I would love to have your size of box, but that would just give them a bigger target to hit.

Well after a few months of working out of this one
nappybox5.jpg

I missed having a top i could work on, so I finally decided to put the hammer down and upgrade to this.

the difference between the two is just unbelieveable. Even though the krsc40 was a nice box, you can just feel how much better built the classic is.

My box and a few random drawer pictures.

Some ratchets and sockets, I'm one of those weird people that don't mind multiple drive sizes in the same drawer.

when i bought older KRL1003 and all bearing slides are worn out and dirty which cause it little sticky but my snap on guy are happy to warranty all bearing slides at no charges. so i did replacements all slides and now it is smooth and almost all are heavy...

i just realized that i never uploaded the contents of the matco box to photobucket. it will be there shortly.

So you traded the Mac Macsimizer in on the new Matco setup? NICE!!

Out of curiosity.. did you like the Macsimizer at all? I've been thinking about going to a triple cab like that.
