Been working on those for a lot of years, never had to use an impact. Just the inch and a half wrench and and my foot. Have seen a lot of guys do that though, just not my style.

Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

Never thought of using my foot :dunno: I might try that now... I'm not a big guy so just heaving on the wrench won't move it :(

This is about half of em. The Kennedy top was my grandpa's, the silver two drawer top was my dads, the ball bearing red top is part of the normal 3 piece set about 20 years old...the really old CRaftsman roller is one I picked up last year for $100 and the Blue and silver Huot was restored last year as well.

Here's my Kobalt 41" box. So far I have been pleased with the construction, though I do not use heavily on a daily basis. Sorry about the mess in some of the drawers. I'm still trying to find the right place for everything. For quite awhile my tools were for auto interior R&I, hence the abundance of trim and clip tools and 1/4" sockets and ratchets. Thanks to everyone who has posted on this thread, as it got me out into the garage to organize my tools.

My Mac guy ordered me up the side cabinet for my box.

Now I have all the common sized hand tools (sockets, screwdrivers, ratchets, impact etc) in the side box.

Down the middle I got various test equipment tooling (electrical jumpers, crimping kit, fuel pressure tester, etc), a dedicated plier drawer, plus lower drawers for less needed tools.

On the small section I have all my electrical tools, DMM, multimeters, soldering irons, precision screw drivers, picks, trim sticks, terminal tools, some spare fasteners etc, my 12V Dewalt tools, and latex gloves in the bottom drawer.

Not shown is my laptop that the adapter on my box is for.

Ever since I completed my mechanical engineering appreticeship nearly 40 ago, I have amassed a substantial collection of both imperial & metric tools. Along with my passion for classic cars, it means that the variety has grown. However, one thing that I never got round to buying, was a tool trolley. Until now, that is!

The thing I liked about this design, was the 2 outer compartments, complete with peg boards and storage bins.

Will post more when I have installed some of my tools.

Cheers - Nick.

Nick, looks great, mate!

Interested in whats crammed inside that box. Lol

This box is OVERFLOWING lol, I've been looking for something bigger but seen as I'm still an apprentice I am on a budget :( and I'm literally to embarrassed to post drawer pics haha

I do have a 40 inch KRA top box on my bench also but 2 of the drawers are broken and I can't seem to get a hold of the snap on van:(

The truck is similar to hydrostatic, it's a Diesel engine with a 3phase generator bolted on, the generator powers the electric drive axle which is similar to hydrostatic in the sense it does brake for you electronically using a "brake resistor", the equivalent on an electric truck would be re gen braking but seen as there's nowhere to store the energy it's just wasted as heat and water cooled:)

Idk if you've ever seen my box, but organization isn't my speciality haha.

Oh I've heard rumors we are gonna get setup over here, under the Linde brand of course. Apparently its just not caught on for some reason vs standard hydrostatic drive.

Here is mine. Gedore, made in South Africa, about 15 years old. Gedore replaced it with a newer model with pegboard inside.

Nice tool collection there Hugo. I'm now starting to look at a similar wall mount toolbox /peg-board for my tools. Currently they're on a large wall-mount chipboard, but I need to remove it to make some much needed wall space. Its either the wall mount box like yours, or a toolbox/drawer type arrangement. Either route is quite expensive here.

How do you find those Stanley Cobra style pliers in terms of build quality under heavy use? Was eyeing the 12" one at Builders yesterday, but did not buy for some reason.

is that a docker locker? just curious about the extra castor

its not, the epiq lockers are shipped with "temporary" casters on one side so they can stand up on their own in shipping, i had to reinstall them to move the box when i changed jobs a year ago, never took them off again.

Wow seth_man that is awesome

Add a side locker on the right & you have my dream tool box

maybe some day, right now its pleanty of space for all my stuff, plus if i did that i wouldnt have room for my laptop/diagnostics cart, theres a lot of shop equipment around me taking up wall space

Very nice box I like the organization.
Congrats on thw new box ! Looks great.

thanks, only the workcenter is new though, box and locker are 4 years old, the finishes are holding up really well

Forgive my ignorance as I have no idea but form what I read there, in the US you guys get linde's but not Still's?

I've recently changed company's and we don't get any linde's in but the company I worked for before had a few on their fleet, mostly 392's and 393's and I've gotta say I do prefer proper hydrostatic over the electronic equivalent.

I also don't see too many clark trucks either, we deal with mostly still's and cesab's although I've worked on a good few makes of trucks. I take it from your username you don't work for a dealer but an independent company?

Also do you guys in the US see many none US trucks? Doosans etc?

Thanks, the Stanley tools are ok, but i have seen the Knipex range at the Toolshop in Randburg, i will be replacing the Stanleys with them as soon as my finances allows it.

In terms of the box, i see Makro sells a wallmount box for less than R2k, maybe check that out, does not look bad. Also, check out OLX and Gumtree. I saw a guy selling a box like mine for R800, you would have to repaint it though, he did not look after it.

Groete,

PS, where in PTA do you stay? I am in Pierre van Ryneveld.

I have a small Knipex Cobra that's very handy, but sometimes need something bigger like 12". But like you, I'll also need to wait for finances to improve before I can buy Knipex, hence the reason I was pondering the Stanley.

Will definitely check out Makro. I also scan Gumtree almost daily for tools and have seen a few for sale. Much of the good stuff seem to be in CT or Durban though.

Groete,

Garsfontein, a block or two away from the SAPS station.

Hey, I don't know what you guys have goin on over there so no ignorance on your part :D

As far as Still, I have a plant that just had us "recondition" 3 80 volt Still trucks, they are Cadillac's in my book haha. Data tags and all said Still, but stickers said linde lol.

Ready for this? We are a Clark, Linde, Komat'su, Drexel, Bendi, Combi, and Princeton Piggyback dealership. I think we might still be a Prime Mover dealer as well. Haha. We work on anything, besides cars and trucks, up to and including large machinery and **** we don't know anything about:mad:

As far as other brands I've seen a little of everything running around. Doosan actually used to be Dripwoo ( Daewoo haha), a dealer called AMH sells them around here but they have a small presence.

And here is an example of things to be embarrassed about. Lol

Wow your place sounds great! We're forklifts only sadly:( how do you find Bendi trucks lol?

Also by combi do you mean combi lift trucks? Or another type I've not herd of?

Doosans are pretty poorly made in my opinion lol but very very easy to fix/fault diagnose! And in fairness the yanmar engines used by doosan are bulletproof! Infact I worked on a STILL RC40-30 yesterday that used the same yanmar engine as the doosans so they can't be that bad!

EDIT: you van look just like my old one haha

Crown, Raymond, and Toyota are the most common ones in our area, but we get a bunch of Cat, Komatsu, Yale, Hyster, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and the occasional Drexel, Bendi, Landoll, or Linde. Then whatever other oddball somebody bought who knows where and needs us to work on as well. Still a few TCMs around, even a couple of Allis Chalmers.

I've never heard of Raymond, Drexeland landoll but the rest I've worked on, the oddballs are always fun to work on for a change, I one worked one two sichelschmidts (if that's how it's spelt) and a samuk that had a Nissan H20 engine in it :0
