Just put an order in with Matco for their 4 series double bay in silver vein. I'll post pictures when it comes in. Should be here on friday or somewhere around that time.

Circa 7/66. Thirty-three inchers. Couldn't pass up the logo.

I belong to the FB page that the individual did this.

He requested help from several people to help move his box and no one was available. So this was the only option he had to move it at the time.

If I remember correctly, all that happened was his casters needed to be replaced.

it was still cheaper than renting u-haul.

I spy a KIK logo :shake: Makes me curious what you drive lol

My two boxes, don't have a ton in them yet as I've used my ole' mans stuff on my rides/projects through high school and college. He wanted me to have a box and something to remember him by many years from now so he bought these as my first box. Once I pass some licensing exams and land a job I'm sure they'll start to fill up!

I was given the top piece to this last christmas. I am finishing tech school for Diesel Mechanics in 7 weeks and I just bought my tools. I bought the bottom piece a couple days after I ordered my tools from snap-on.

I started putting tools in the box as they came in and about 3/4 of the way through it, my box was full. And I mean full. I had socket trays sitting on top of socket trays. I hadn't even received my 2 torque wrenches or my 3/4" general service set yet.

My 1/2 Torque Wrench comes in the mail aaaaaand this happens...
10305516_jpg

I can't have a $600 torque wrench sitting out and I can't go get my 1/2 torque wrench from my car every time I need it. I took the bottom box back to lowes the other day and now I'm going to be buying a box from matco. I can't decide if I want the double bay 4 series or the triple bay 4 series. The price difference is $500 (plus tax) for me (student pricing). I'm afraid the double bay will be full before I know it, lol.

Kid start by getting a few paychecks.

This finally got dropped off at the beginning of the week. It's been a long time coming, wanted a snap on box since I got into the trade 6 years ago but I didn't think it would ever happen. Anyway after buying several cheap boxes and the last one having problems after just 6 months I said screw it, the "tool box" truck rolled around and he made me an offer I couldnt refuse. Classic 96, flat black with gloss black accents. Don't regret it one bit :)

Still finding sweet deals at the pawn shops. Typical deal is $300 SO set for $60.

The brand new metric Snap On Allen keys were $29, well below the $135 truck price.....ya, obviously someone screwed up a bit on that deal. They should have been about twice what I paid.

The second set of 1/2" drive (top of first picture) is S-K SAE that cost me $20 and a couple squirts of brakeleen and 3 in 1 oil. totally stole them.

The Precision Instruments twin bar torque wrench was $40 out the door. Could not get back to my truck quick enough.

I imagine for pawn shops its more important to keep inventory moving than to get top dollar.

The average person doesn' t know the difference between a quality tool and a spork, they see $39 price tag and think it' s ridiculous. Pawn shops always make a profit, even at that price. They are scumbags who shaft ignorant or desperate people for a living.

Nice Snap-On box, but the Craftsman caught my eye. I think I have the same chest except for the handles on the black pullout trays. Did you add those or did it come that way?

I hadn't really thought about it, but I had to go scope out the handles after you mentioned them. I got that box from my father when he passed, and it really wouldn't surprise me if he put the handles on himself. They sorta seem aftermarket, but without them the drawers would be damned near flush with the front of the box, and you'd end up digging them open with a fingernail or something everytime you wanted in them. :dunno:

This is my box at work. I'm looking to get a bigger one from HF (Due to this forum lol)
My dad got me this when I was 16 and first started buying tools, 8 years later I think m I deserve a new one :)

Final upgrade...

Well I posted many updates here... And here is a recap.

Started with a hand held no name red box... Lasted during apartment life.
Then up to a HF44 box... Outgrew it in no time.

Bought used Classic 78, and back came the little red box, haha
92D87051-86AB-4542-97E7-CF1B7B20185F-30754-000008F57CC15223_zps4b3bcf9b.jpg

Sold it, bought a classic 96 w/ hutch

Added a top box to it, or in my case, a mid box.

And have always had my eye on a krl1023/33. Found a few deals, but green was hard to find. A local one popped up I've been eyeballing/dealing on for a year (lol) and finally I pulled the trigger. Sold my bottom classic 96 in a day, and kept my upper setup. Did I NEED it? No, but its sure nice and strong with all the weight I have in/on top of it.

Pics don't show how massive it is! The top box is about an inch wider which ***** aesthetically, and I need to source back drawer trim for the 96 mid box to match the bottom box, and black corner guards for the mid box are ordered so that should help it all blend together better.

I'm set for a while! Pays to be patient! Local snap on dealer wouldn't even call me back when I was shopping for any of these upgrades, thankfully ebay and CL are polluted with SO stuff!

My Snap-on Classic 78 top and bottom. Sorry for the crappy pic, too much stuff in front of it right now to take a straight on pic

Yep. People that live beyond their pay is the problem, not the businesses that spring up to serve them. Try getting an education, then get a jod, then wait until after school to get married and after that to have children. I took that simple bit of advice 30 years ago and went from growing up a disabled kid in a single parent home well below the poverty line and became the guy that looks to have all the silver spoons money could buy. Now, with seven kids, two Porsches, and a seven bedroom house you would never know I am still just as disabled as I was when I was growing up in and out of the ICU. Remember: education, job, marriage, children, ....in that order only.....or you will be the unemployed guy pawning his tools to pay for diapers. .....
