I'm not trying to start some ****, but I got a question for all of you that own the SO EPIQ boxes. Right now I have a classic 96 and its running out of room. Should I buy a master series or just spend a little extra and go with the EPIQ?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you want a great box to store a lot of tools for long time, a KRL is great way to go. If you want the "extras" like the Power Bank and Power Top, more casters under it, side locker with all drawers -not just shelves --- all that stuff, then step up to an Epiq.

I agree. Had a KRL loved it. Saw the Epiq, thought who needs it? Then I saw one in person and thought, I need that.

Take a look at Nickspeeds side by side pic a page or two back. Size difference is pretty evident. I like your setup BTW!

Nickspeed's old box was a KRL722, the smallest Masters box. Significantly smaller than an Epiq, but also significantly smaller than a 1022, 7022, what have you.

A KRL722 is roughly 52 x 40 x 24. KRL1022 is roughly 52 x 46 x 30. ~six inches deeper, 6 inches taller. The Epiq is roughly 60 x 46 x 30. Same (approximately) depth and height as a KRL1022, but wider.

Going from a triple bank KRL to a double bank Epiq is less of a difference of course, depending on exactly which models were being compared.

I'm not a Mac guy AT ALL but I must say that's a really, really nice looking box.

Is that a 6" or 8" top drawer? Looks super deep. Can you configure the Mac triple banks with two full length top drawers?

Thank you... 6" and yes you can get 4" and 2" full length drawer combo.

Edit: you can not get a full 88" drawer, they would be 61".

I plan on painting them white, black handles, casters, and LineX the lid and main storage area black. I plan to LineX the stainless steel top.

Thanks guys.. its a huge upgrade over my multiple old craftsman griplatch units - they served me well for over 10 years since I started in the field but stuff was so stacked and layered in every drawer, impossible to find anything. Not to mention the metal was very fatigued where the casters attached to the bottom of the tallest unit (top, middle, bottom), a bit over loaded and I regularly stood on the bottom drawer to see anything that was on the very top compartment of the top box! lol.... It is now on at home garage duty.

I work at a ford dealership, trpearcy.

Ill have to get a few decent pics of my at home setup, not sure if anyone else on here has a MBC tool chest, but I picked up a top and bottom a few years back for under $300, its built like a tank and probably will outlive me.

Nice setup... on the locker on the left I see you have something hanging on the INSIDE of the locker door that holds a bunch of tools. Is that a custom piece or did you buy it from the snap on guy? I really could use something like that.

Stupid question for you Leadfoot415... did you load that box onto the trailer with tools loaded or without? Also how did get it up onto the trailer? Have a couple friends help you? Is that a Ford Ranger moving your toolbox?

I uploaded a pic of my own tool box. I'm still dreading the day I have to move it. I know its HAS to happen sooner or later along with my work bench. I have different theories on how to move it. I know its gonna take at least one or two trips to move ALL MY JUNK.

I uploaded a pic of my own tool box. I'm still dreading the day I have to move it. I know its HAS to happen sooner or later along with my work bench. I have different theories on how to move it. I know its gonna take at least one or two trips to move ALL MY JUNK.

In that picture, the box is unloaded as I bought it from a pawn shop, no tools included. The trailer is a "drop deck" style meant for loading electric scissor/man lifts, it literally drops to the ground and has a hydraulic lift ram to raise it back up... so loading was easy. Only needed my dad & I to push the 1500lb toolbox onto it. It was also very affordable, paid $73 for an entire weekend of use from a place called Sunbelt Rentals. I had to do my own pre trip inspection & minor repairs to it before I drove 900 miles, but not a big deal (burnt out bulbs, loose wheel bearings).

I pulled the trailer/box with my ford ranger.. 4.0v6 4x4 with 4.10 gears, didnt do too bad at 65mph across the midwest. You definetely could tell there was a fair amount of weight back there. I wouldnt try to tow that far with it loaded w/ tools, but I think the truck would do it for a short trip across town trip should I ever decide to change jobs.

That's just a screwdriver/pry bar holder that came with the hutch. I hung it on the locker door instead to hold those long tools.

That's a KRL722, meaning it does have lock n roll drawers. Unless someone took the latches out.

many of you have seen, and several have commented on the the boxes i have in my service truck.

well this past week, my old truck was "decommissioned" and i now have a new(to me) truck.

3 days work to unlaod my tools and equipment from the old truck, and try to get resemblance of order in the new truck.

the sad condition of my trusty old CM top box got me thinking,

i removed the lid of the box, cut off aprox 3 1/2" of the bottom of the box, where it had been welded/reinforced previously, and removed the bottom drawer. the stamped inner sheetmetal where the drawer slides are suppose to be were torn past the poit of repair (again).

some scrap angle iron and flat bar made up the new lower frame.
all the new steel is on the inside with the sheet metal outer skin plug welded

it's sitting on a lyons 3 drawer mid box that has been following me around for 20 years.

Installed a sunex shelf of my garage box, took an hour because I was too picky a about measurment. Definetley nice to have this shelf, im going to use 1/8th ABS plastic as a shelf mat.
I need to get better pics later when I transfer more tools over.

I would've at least locked the drawers. Ratchet straps to go around box would be also done. And I would've had two people supporting is from below as it went down the ramp.

yea i'm hoping to never have to buy another toolbox.

i was suppose to get a brand new truck this year, but as usual, another dept finds out that service is replacing a truck, so they have to have new vehicles as well.
that starts a 3 month long argument/******* match between dept managers, and now 6 months later, trucks havent even been ordered.
still screwing around getting pricing and trade-in numbers.

Just bought this KRL7022 today for $1200. Came with the stainless steel top, optional stainless drawer trim, and the Snap On clock. Was only used in a home garage.
