I happened to be in hf tonight to get a knick knack or two and I seen their 72" box and was looking at it. I happened to get on the ground and then is when I noticed the total lack of quality control. Look at the random spaced blobbed weld that is connecting the lower panel that is gapped over a 1/4" at some areas. So for anyone thinking about this box make sure u really inspect yours before it leaves the store

Finally got around to adding a couple of side boxes to my HF 44". I've had the 44" for 9 years and it has held up very well.

Also a shot of my Craftsman box.

How's it going guys. This is my first post to this site and it is showing one of my toolboxes. It is not anywhere near as nice as some of the boxes I have seen on here but you have to start somewhere right? Also, I am just a home mechanic, not a pro full-time...

Let me know what you guys think. I just picked up this Dewalt box the other day and the bottom is on order and should be here soon.

I have a small HVAC business on the side but I keep those tools in tool bags ready to go. I don't want to grab from my home boxes every time I have a service call or an install and have to remember which are my home tools and which are my work tools. Cost more but I think it has been a good investment.

I love this purple color, I think its my new dream new box color. So badass!
Question, thoughts on this box without the top section, as is, keeping the left side locker.
Do people do this? Or is going to put too much strain on the lower box bolt connections?
Reason is it would be nice to have the tall side locker, but keep the lower box counter space.

You are not supposed to do that, but I did it on my mac, people do it all the time. It might sag away from the roll cab a little. Worst case, you could fab up a little support plate on the inside to spread the load out and keep it clamped fast like a big washer.

Took lots of messing around to get it all to fit like that. My cart has all my common used sockets. Way too many specialty sockets in that toolbox drawer lol

I understand haha i plan on upgrading soon to a cart and a krl 7023 here very soon. Because my socket drawer now. (A page back ) is not enough i still have my GP 12point impacts in the blue case in the bottom drawer along with my 3/8 metric swivels.

It looks like the bottom box is %50 plus larger than the locker so that might help. But yeah, from what you guys are saying I dont think it would be an issue. Im just not a big fan of top chests / boxes due to lack of counter space.

Thats too bad! Matco and snappy both make great boxes, but snappy has the better name. This box im going to post again, in full size, I am digging this purple so much. Its such a nice color, maybe its just a phase im going through but as of right now if I got a new one it would look exactly like this box without the top chest.

Wagzilla what color Snappy box did you end up with since they would do purp? Still miss purp or were you getting sick of it? Why sell, space upgrades?

Last I checked, Matco offers a bracket to put a full locker on a roll cab without any top box or hutch, at least for the 6s series, not sure about the 4s which is what that looks like,

This is my second box, I grew out of the first one after about 8 months. Of course it was a 21 inch Stanley that only had 12 inch deep drawers.

I had to give great consideration to the size (small) of my garage and the best way to maximise square inches to lay tools out in as opposed to cubic inches.

I originally put it on 2x4 feet so that I could see into the top, but eventually I needed to actually do some work on my car so I had to put the wheels on it to move it to the end of the garage so I pull the car all the way into my tiny garage.

The stickers are all Magnets and are either Tool Brands I have or parts on my bikes.

The Top Box is a bit eclectic, But I'm pretty proud of the way I got the screwdrivers in the shallow drawers to let me use the deep drawer for the Pliers.

All the drawers are labeled so that I can actually ask my wife for a tool and she can get it for me pretty easy.

The Bottom Cabinet is customized with two medium drawers to replace one of the deep drawers. It turns out that while it is possible to get replacement drawers from Harbor Freight, it takes about a year, and they might be used. Oh well, they cleaned up nicely and I was able to hammer out the bent corner.

The last two drawers here are not really sorted yet.

The only drawer deep enough for my 1/2 inch sockets is near the bottom. I guess that's a good thing for weight distribution.

Finally some pictures of La casa de ****.

I got the lower Remline years ago at the E-town swap meet. I went there with a few hundred bucks to find an older snap on, but I got there late. I bought this one as you see it with a different top for 50 bucks as the guy was loading up. See that drawer filled with 3/4 stuff ? It still opens smooth. It had a matching top box but it was flimsy for what I thought I needed it for. I gave it to a family member to use.

The Craftsman top box was given to me by a friends father. He had it since forever. I think it was his dads or something. I had to wire wheel the whole thing down as it was sitting in his yard for a few years. . Anyway, I've had it about 15 years now myself. It still works good but I'm thinking it will soon be time to refinish it.

Hmmm.... Maybe I should have put this in the vintage toolboxes thread,

The drawers in the 26" US General boxes can be rearranged. I wanted the bottom drawer in the top box moved to the top (full width) position. The drawers in the bottom box can also be rearranged but they can't be moved to the top box (drawers in the bottom box are too deep [front-to-back] for the top box). Other than emptying the drawers, it's quite easy to do.

The drawers in the bottom are a little funny... The third from the bottom (Stock Assembly) has to have a deep drawer below it. I was able to move it down when I replaced one of the large drawers with the two Medium drawers, but if you move the Medium+ drawer to the top it leaves really odd gaps at the top and you end up not lining up at the bottom.

As it is the bottom two drawers rub on one another a tiny bit.

I primarily work on Motorcycles so I really don't break out the 1/2" very often.
