Nice price Vulturej the most minor scratch in the paint and a few burrs in the perforations in the draws. 1/3 the price of new and only an hour to the factory BTW it is 41" tall.

I want more !

I bought 6 Vidmar’s for work a couple years back, I was tiring to figure out how I could sneak a couple in to my garage. I remember my plant managers face when I handed him the purchase request for $10,800, it was priceless.

triple for the double, but i gained space.i like the drawer layout on the double,if the triple had about the same layout i would have kept it.but for the price i paid for it.it was well worth it.

i looked at the hutch for mine, but over 4 week wait, plus the $$$ turned me off it right now.right now mine with the top works out for me since we routinely move our boxes closer to the jobs,so we dont have to walk for tools.it does look good all the tops and the side locker are good.

clueless,

When I bought it, I didn't know how I would like the riser but after adding lights, power strips and a few other extras, it made a great work area. It's nice to be able to sit down and assemble smaller items with lots of good light. The older you get, the more you appreciate good light (and a padded stool to sit on). Once you are past 50, you REQUIRE it....
Edit: Most of us "old" guys require good light, not the padded stool (although it is nice)....

Here are some pics of an old craftsman top box and homemade bottom box that my Grandpa worked out of at Westinghouse from the late 40's 'til the early nineties. It's been almost twenty years since he used anything in it and your hands still get covered in grease after you reach in it for something :bounce:

One of the most intriguing boxes I have ever seen posted in this thread. Also I like the rest of the stuff you will be posting shortly. Yea, I saw it all at the bottom.

Simply amazing!!!! Old-timers had a certain style and approach to form/function that has, in my opinion, been totally lost now-a-days.

My teal KR661. Picked it up in 1993 (or thereabouts). Upgraded the locks (to tubular) and the upper drawer slides (to ball bearing). Still use it at work - pic was taken today. Colors are off thanks to it being a phone camera, but even with a good camera, this teal never looks quite as good as it does in person. I keep the red fender covers on top of it to protect the top, which still looks new. Been questing for a top box (KR-690 or 691) for it for a while now...

Threw in a pic of the wrench drawer since it's the only one that looks nice at the moment - totally outgrowing this box

I find boxes like this much more interesting to look through. I always hope I can come across something old like that full of tools for sale and have the money to take it home just so I can have the fun of digging through it.

I agree...there's just more substance to old boxes and the contents within it. There's just so much more joy in looking through a box full olden tools, whether it be organized or not.

Nice show Steve. One of the fun things in life, like walking into your fav. pawn shop, and he has just put out a old box of tools, it like treasure hunting, as you dig thru the tools looking (and finding) that one piece of gold.

I was saying the box is a delight, and I looked through all of your pics in the test area at the bottom of the board before you posted this here. Great stuff indeed. I love how none of the tools are crowded in there either!

I'm with you now, I went back and saw where you posted, I guess I didn't think anyone would notice them there. Thanks for the comments. You guys have been giving me the motivation I need to get them documented for the my insurance agent. I'll try to keep up the posts as I get further along.

I have pretty much the same minus the chrome and it's red. Mine is from around 2000. Doesn't look that nice, but I use it like it's a tool box. I have a Top box and side box as well.

Really nice boxes here. I currently don't have my own(only 14) but hoping to pick a small one up soon and some tool's. Pretty much all the wrenching I do is on mtn bikes so my gear won't be too much.

I'll get some shots of my dad's and parshly my box tomorrow. Its hard to get good pictures when my dad has his truck in there.

I've seen the color in person; it's quite beautiful. The KR661 has always been one of my most favorite boxes, thanks for posting it. :)

Welcome londonhogfan!

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Plus, the tools are some of the best CMan offers. That stuff will last a long time (well, minus the trays maybe :) )

Thanks, at first I purchased one of those large box sets of craftsman tools, but I decided for just a bit more I could buy the modules which are their professional tools (even though I only use for general fixes around the house and cars). I like them a lot more than their cheaper stuff. I took the advice from someone from the forum here about the module trays and used some of that spray foam and that made the trays pretty tough.

hey, that's a cool idea. You mean you turned the tray over and filled it with foam?
