Alright, so here are some updated pics of my box in its spot at the shop and some drawer shots. Still have a lot of tools that need to come out here from home, but it is a start.

Thanks guys! I didn't show the other 6 drawers that aren't done yet lol. I like to be organized. It helps to be able to tell at a glance if something is missing by either me leaving something in a car or a co-worker borrowing a tool without permission.
Nothing like working on someone's car and charge them $ 40.00 and you left a $ 70.00 tool in the car:lol_hitti

There are some advantages and disadvantages.....this setup maximizes drawer space...and if you have a lot of wrenches the peg setup will limit you. You can put 3 big wrenches on a peg and 3+ per peg for smaller wrenches. You will need to take off a wrench to get to the other wrench. So for a diy guy like myself it is ok....for someone touching wrenches everyday it may get old. However it is a slick setup and saved me money in not having to buy wrench and socket organizers.

Yeah I like how it looks and realize the minor issue with stacked wrenches. I was talking about the larger ones against the back wall on the pegs that seem to hang down.

The wrench issue goes away if you have 2 sets of combos each in SAE and Metric. Specialty wrenches I'd store in drawers, as the top is designed to keep the tools used 95% of the time handy.

Scooter, isn't the rack next to the drivers (between them and the socket side) designed for extensions and ratchets? Again, to keep things you use the most right there...

Didn't know those boxes were available in green like that.

Scootr, that's a badass box and the color rocks!. I looked at those for a long time before going another direction. I wasn't sure it would handle everything I wanted to throw at it. Post up some pic's when you get it all complete and what your thoughts are please. Thnx, Cam.

How so? Are you saying that it is more storage than a top chest with drawers? If so, I strongly disagree. I think they initially designed those as portable boxes and then spilled over into the top box market to try and increase sales. It would be a great portable box as everything is kept in place while in transit. But for a stationary box I think it gives up quite a bit of storage space over traditional drawers. Nice setup BTW.

I think its a different approach, but take a hard look at what you CAN get in there:

1-2 drawers of wrenches, easily a drawer of sockets and ratchets, Anther drawer of drivers and other tools, plus whatever you can get into the bottom, at least one more drawer.

What do you gain? Minimal opening and closing of drawers to get the tools you use the most = huge time savings. Sure it's incremental, but:

Open and close one drawer to get the right ratchet and extension, open and close another to get the right socket open and close a third drawer to get a wrench to hold the bitter end.....

With this by the time you got the first drawer closed, you could have been on the way back to the thing you were working on...

Not to mention never having to clean and re-lube a slide for those drawers you use the most...

I think its genius for a top box, (since top boxes generally annoy the hell out of me anyway; I'd rather have the top space to work... :dunno:

Also, its very easy for most everything in the box to get "inventoried" at a glance, without the expense or space wasted of shadowing foam....

Stick this on top of a 72" bottom, and have both the convenience and some "work space"; with maybe a small vise...

finish looks a bit rough n ready, but not in a bad way. I think the layout aspect of the top box is an awsome idea and very well thought out. I with we could get these here in the Y-uk, I would buy one as a home box or even as a braekdown box for my van.

Nice set chopperguy.

Don't be ashamed. ;)

I've got more money in drill bits, welding machines and end mills than the majority of the truck tool slaves have all put together.

That box set works just fine:rocker:

I bought the snap on kr1000 bottom about 9 years ago when I first got into heavy equipment. I finally got a kr1200 to put on top last week. Both are road warriors but they are built like tanks. My current diesel shop is littered with new boxes and I still prefer mine. The cheap HF side locker is a great value and has served me well. My current dealer got sick of replacing my spring wheels with the new torsions. I've have her packed to the max.

Is there a top till on that box? Looks like it but not sure. Nice looking set.
