So what are you in now? Heavy duty equipment? Industrial mechanic stuff?

Yep!! Mostly heavy duty, actually just started my first day of first year classes yesterday! ***** being an apprentice again, but considering I'm making more as a first year apprentice than most licensed techs in aviation I'm not gonna complain too hard!

I work in a mine, fixing equipment, maintaining industrial machinery, and all other odd jobs in between.

Welcome to Tool Addicts Not-So-Anonymous!

Whatever you do, don't read the How many Ratchets thread if you don't have around $50-$100 to spend.

Happy hunting!

My dealer had this setup for sale (used), guy traded it in on the rock n roll truck. I told my buddy about it, and he bought it for his home garage. I like it! I like the little drawers in the side cabinet. The previous owner had a big floor drain in the middle of the shop, and said that he kept destroying he original casters. So, he build this beast of a frame out of angle iron and heavy duty metal casters. The frame weighs about 50 pounds!

I'm not a mechanic by trade, as I'm a HR behavioral analyst. I have a few mud/sand dragsters, and I do have a bit of a tool collection as well.

Before I joined GJ, I had 6 ratchets. Now, I just counted and I've got 32 now. Versatility, is how I justify it. The racing trailer now has better tooling and the house has a killer setup as well.

Welcome to the disease.

I think you will find that there are some seriously troubled people here. Most think that if you don't have AT LEAST 3 full sets of tools you need to seek help with the (pick your tool truck) gods.

20 ratchets..... That's probably enough for doing what you need (looking at your profession). ....but some of these guys give overkill a new name. IIRC The winner in the thread mentioned had over 300 ratchets. ...and he didn't count them all.

Got my first ever tool box today! Already want something better, but for only $50, I can't complain :D. Still have to actually organize the sockets, but for now everything is at least in the drawer I want.

Incorrect. I have about that many, but Platy has crested 1,000 I'm pretty sure, and still buying out from under us other ratchet whores!:lol_hitti

So which part don't you agree with?
1. There are some seriously troubled people here (hmmm)???
- I never said who... ...and I'm probably one of them.
2. That 20 ratchets are probably enough for him???
- I always thought that my 20 or so ratchets were enough until I found this place. That's when I found out the some of those specialty ratchets really do make it easier to do the job.

..and I think 1,000 ratchets are greater than 300.

None of the above, simply that 300 is by far not the biggest collection around here.

I remember watching the thread and couldn't believe that he got over 300. I just didn't remember where it stopped.

You know... GJ has a LOT of threads about different things... even ratchets, but do you think we have enough pictures to cover most of the manufacturers, years, and model numbers?

...or would that be duplicating some of the vintage tool sites?

I was starting to run out of room in this box, and I'm going to need a place for a mini lathe pretty soon.

I picked up these two 5 drawer flat file cabinets for $250. 36" deep, 36" tall and 46" wide. I'm going to need to combine the bottom 4 drawers into 2 deep ones and then the 44" base and side drawers will be completely empty.

You guys always make me want a new box, luckily I'll have one soon, I'm getting basically a HF 44 only with 11 draws instead of 13 and I want to make a hutch for it has anyone done this before?

I bought one of the snap on looped tool organizers to try out with my wrenches. So far I really like it, I will be buying more. But at $26 a piece I will be adding more slowly....
