That's OK, I'm good for now. I hate needing a pencil and not having one. Here's my writing implement drawer :D

Main box in the garage is a 56" Tool Vault Combo. The little Craftsman Roller was a clearance deal I got mainly to put the fridge on. It holds gloves, rags and misc. supplies, which is about as much as it was designed for even though it technically has roller bearing slides. The Mac cart was a Craigslist find too good to pass up, virtually new for under $500. It's mostly empty for now, I just load it up for projects if I'm working a ways from the main box. I'll focus on the main box. The top is pretty shallow but cordless tools on their sides fit fine. Starting with a few of the misc. drawers.

Nice setup. Love the red wall phone :D

So here's the toolbox, I wish more people did video tours, I feel that you get more of a feel for the box and the person wielding the tools than you ever could with a series of pictures. Anyway, enjoy.

Hello all. I work in audio, both car and home. This is my work set up for car audio installations. My home audio tools are in bags and I have another rollaway for my at home tools. I use a Matco cart for my main box and the HF cart is for all my over flow tools. I have not included pictures of the inside of my HF cart as it is just a disorganized mess. Please excuse the "Charlies Angels" DVD. Its is used to test video systems and it was something my wife was throwing out lol.

The photos are taken in order from top to bottom. Let me know what you think.

nice setup! awesome collection of green Snap On. do you like the air swivels on those matco air tools?

Nice to have another 12v guy here. I do both as well. Been in the game for almost 20 years now. Do pretty much just fleet stuff now so the main box is at home. Pretty much a go bag is all I use now.

Nice, I have been at this for 20 years as well. I work at a regular 12v retailer who does much high end work. for Home Audio I work out of a bag actually several bags but one main bag.

What area of the country are you in? I really miss the high end but the fleet electronics business is much more stable and profitable. One of the most profitable is the basic flat screen wall mounts. Not much time involved and mostly labor. Also the marine biz is getting better. For some reason a lot of boat owners are not diy guys and usually have no problem shelling out money for quality. I really do miss the 90s though. There was a lot of money being made then. Now you really can't do audio anymore. You have to branch out.

Yeah I hear you. I am on the central coast of California, and we have been experiencing exactly what you are talking about. Unfortunately for us the major drought here has killed our normal boat seasons which used to be highly profitable. We still do occasional boats but they are sporadic and non consistent. Our branching out into home has definitely been helpful long with diversifying onto other 12v revenue sources, like lighting, breathalyzers, tint, and we are even doing some DJ equipment through one of our stores. You are right, it is not the 90's anymore. I also miss those days lol.

Thanks!!! I love those swivels and cannot imagine ever running air tools without them I know there are cheaper versions out their than the Matcos, but the ones I have used are leaky and unreliable. The Matco ones have been flawless.

Going through all this glory, only up to page 691 but wanted to get in on the fun before I kept going :)

I am a web developer that used to be a mechanic. Had to quit back in 2004 when diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. I got the itch recently and started building a setup for my home garage, car modding and hoping to find an old truck to restore.

Not thrilled with my drawer organization right now in this 722, lol also chatting with dealer about a new box with workstation, probably 1022.

Sorry, no truck tools here, but these suit me just fine for general automotive tinkering:

Nothing to apologize about, thats a very nice setup. Remember its the show your tools thread not the show your truck tools thread. If its a tool and serves a purpose, it applies.

Came with the red trim, was a deal from the truck :) I was lucky in that my dad has been a mechanic his whole life and was cool with his Snap-on guy for many years so he introduced me to him and the Snappy dealer has been very kind and helpful working with me.

nice collection of S.O hammers. how do you like that brass deadblow hammer? i'm guessing thats like an in between of a regular ballpeen and a straight deadblow? i'd imagine that brass becoming marked up pretty easily. i've only ever used a brass drift, and not a brass hammer

Here's mine----I love it! Waterproof, big, lift-out tray, deep well, top and side handles, doubles as a stool or seat. Perfect for my sign 'kit box'!

I really like how you did your socket trays. they look really clean and simple.

Thanks! Oak tongue and groove hardwood flooring, used a dado blade to cut a groove for the HF socket rail to fit in, stain (black for SAE, grey for metric), and lots of patience with a ruler and label maker.

Looks great, don't let any one tell you that you have to have tool truck tools...

It's kind of funny, I've only been on this forum a short while, but's it's pretty easy to see the "truck tools or nothing" group and on the other end of the spectrum, "everything I own is from Harbor Freight and it's awesome." I tend to fall somewhere in the middle, but if it's a tool, and it works well enough to reliably get the job done, it's good enough for me!

I started buying tools about 10 years ago when Craftsman was still USA made. My logic was they were a much better quality than the Tool Shop **** from Menards (I broke a number of tools on their first use) at a fraction of the price of truck tools. It was a prefect compromise for my intended use.

Part of it is OCD, but I like picking a brand and sticking with it. When it came time to buy tools for the garage I lucked out on clearance deals on the professional screwdrivers and a large socket set that was NOS. I feel fairly well equipped for anything I plan on doing in the future. If not, there's always eBay, and this forum.

By the way, this forum has the potential to be a terrible influence on my wallet.

saw that picture framed above the box! any details you wanted to share about that GLI? was in the vw/audi scene for a bit and have friends who still are

Here's a link to the build thread, any other questions, send me a PM to keep this thread on topic: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4810373-I-m-doing-work.
