I have the mind set that if one is good two is better!!!! Also in case I break a tool, I have spares and like most people, I love to be able to have a few ratchets out with all of the sockets I need rather than switching sockets on the ratchets, I swap ratchets or if a friend helps we have enough sockets and ratchets to get the job done. I also don't use the pear head proto/plombs as they are two clunky for my likes, but I have found I love round heads, either the old proto round heads, or the snap on swivel heads are realy nice. Also I also love the genius/top tul 72 teeth as well and use them most of the time. I am waiting to see what kind of deal we can get to buy the zyklops, but if we can't come up with something, I will have to buy all 3 sizes on my own.

Now it is time to introduce my "War Wagon". Granted aircraft mechanics do things a little different. This box replaced "The Beast" because the beast couldn't be moved around as easily in the hangar. Thinking about figuring a way to put diesel air horms on it, LOL.

I prefer the war wagon, that is a nice box, and looks really clean. Also nice older chevy pickup, always liked the 73-80 style best. 80, had the nice rectangle head lights, which were rare and pretty cool looking.

The reason for MATCO main box and Snap-On Side Boxes is that Snap-On had a sale for 25% off on Side Cabinets making them over $1200 cheaper each than the MATCO ones. Now in fairness the MATCO ones are almost 4" wider, but it was a deal I couldn't pass up.

You can't find it in the SO catalog because it isn't an SO box, I just put an extra plate on it. It is a montezuma mfg box, that strictlytoolboxes.com sells. The model is an LA-400, and it is made in the USA. Nice box and works well with my kra-300f bottom with side box. Here is the link.

yeah i am understand that... my tech friend has similar what you have matco main box but little short the height(less drawers). he need "locker" side box where he can put all bulk or testers boxes in instead in drawers But what he got price quote, he said forget it!! I was shock what matco guy said that price quote... i dont understand why it is so high price for only side box.. it is cost arms and legs!!

Around the end of the year the Snap-On Distributors have their 25% off sale of Toolbox Accessories (ie Side cabinets and lockers). Last year it was the month of November.

Also check with your dealer about trade ins, for when guys trade up.

Here's mine, I'm just a hobbist and have no projects at this time in the near future I would like to restore a car once I get enough tools gathered up. No high end tools like Snap On here. The majority of the stuff is Craftsman, which works just fine for my needs and a Sears is just 3 miles down the road.

Here is my main tool box. Its a combination of 3 Snap Ons and a Commercial Craftsman That I built a base for.


The second one is actually 2 large rooler bearing bottoms, I "think" they were "Champions"? Not bad boxes, but not great either.

I built the bench, its abour 70"x 32" with a 3/8 stainless top and an angle iron rail and drip edge. I like it real well.


The last is an older Kobalt set that I use in a room were I mostly assemble short blocks. Again not great boxes but pretty nice for the money.

OK I'm going to try this for real now. I operate and maitain some aircraft for a company and am upgrading my boxes. I travel on the job so the Pelican case is my road box and has most of my common used tools. When I'm back in the shop I just remove the tool wraps and boxes from the Pelican case and put them in the tool cart. That way I don't have to search everytime I take a trip.

The cart is modified with leg extensions, two side trays, an extra drawer and a riser over the top shelf that I can lay tools on and access the shelf underneath. I just clamp the tool wraps to the top lid of the cart which makes things pretty handy.

The roll cab is a new KRA 2306 that replaced the Williams box I showed in this thread a couple of days ago. Instead of going to a gargantuan box, I decide to split up with a cart and a box and get rid of some stuff I just don't intend to use anymore.

Yes its a bit "tight" in the shop.

Most of the engines are performance or specialties of some type or an other. Quite a bit of welding and fabrication as well.

Hey Guys, this is my 2nd tool box It's a midnight Blue ball bearing chest top and bottom by Craftsman. The bottom chest half has the safety locks on the drawers you they cant be inadvertently opened.
