Thanks everyone, I am a mechanical engineer by trade but work on our family's corn and soybean farm along with doing welding fab and repair work on the side. The service truck is overkill for our needs but when we were looking for a ton or ton and half truck with a service body we stumbled on this utility company basket truck with a cracked fiberglass boom dirt cheap. Its still a work in progress but I removed the boom built a fuel transfer tank, toolbox drawers, reinforced the boxes for a crane, welder and 40 cfm compressor and added a workbench and work lights. The dt466 and 4 speed Allison are not ideal for bottom end power in soft fields so my next project is giving it a 2 speed rearend.

How does that work JDN? A two speed rear end. i have seen photos online of the dual shifters in the cab floor.

In simple terms, is it just a way of changing the differential gearing from say 3:73 to 4:10?

I've collected many tool carts over the years. Here is the only one I've bought new and it was from the dented shelf at Tractor Supply.

The wife surprised me with a new side cabinet like my other as an early Christmas gift. Got it sanded and painted to match my Snap On box as close as I could come to the matte finish. Almost done with my hutch I am building at home and will have it in next couple of weeks I hope.

Cool spot for the laptop so it won't get nasty at the shop. I would need something like that for mine.

Yeah, I like having it in there now. Kept it covered with a fender cover before. Now I just shut the door in the evening and good to go.

cweidert03, I would love to see the drawers once you get them setup for detailing. I have been thinking about setting up a cart myself.

Some more pictures for you guys. Masterforce 72"

I really want this box, but I'm unimpressed with the drawers' load ratings. I'm considering replacing the slides on the top drawer at the very least. The only other box I'd want is the Tool Vault 72" but that thing is $2K and the Masterforce can be had for $1K on sale. What are your thoughts so far?

Yea i originally wanted the extreme toolboxes box, but when this went on sale I jumped on the offer. I'm still waiting for my stainless steel top. This one has similar dimensions as the tool vault tool box. Just one less drawer. I wish some of the bigger drawers had double slides. I guess if I get more tools I'll purchase the extra slides. The drawer move with little to no effort. When you have weight in the drawer it's a smoother operation. The top drawer I had my 1/2 drive sockets in the back on Hansen socket trays but came into a snag when I couldn't remove the deep sockets from the back. I believe the harbor freight trays would work. That's the only other complaint. Overall I really like it, the next thing is to see if I can get the locker to fit?

Anybody ever heard of Stor-Loc toolboxes? I've got 2 and I couldn't be happier. That's me sitting on the roll out shelf (400lb capacity). Custom paint, riser, and drawer layout. Very very messy in the pic, but I'll take more pics tomorrow with a few drawer pics showing their drawer organization options.

"Road box" in the making. Going weld up a ladder rack on top (and possibly the sides), pull all the doors n drawers, prime / paint and try out an epoxy bed liner (Gator liner) inside the side boxes, on the inside of the doors over the wheels, and the floor of the bed.
Looking for a decent bottom box to put in the front cabinet. recommendations are welcome, max I can fit is 27" wide, 18" deep, 38" tall

If you're close to the FL panhandle and don't mind a little fab work I have a friend that might want to sell his. I wish he'd do something with it so I could get my damned trailer back....

I picked mine up for $2k, Is $6-8K box if bought new (if you can find it or don't mind waiting months for it to be made). Technically this was new, Just sat for 8 years in nothing but primer after it was special ordered and never picked up.
They kept it up off of the ground so the rust is limited to the top side (mostly around the welds) where the primer failed. I ground / blasted it all off the best i could and hit it with an etching primer, Hope that'll be enough to keep the rust at bay for the life of the Cummins.

Could you tell me how you got the Sears SS 8ft top for $50? I would like to get a 6ft one for the 66' Husky box I just purchased. Thanks.

Here's mine:
Like me it's old but it'll get the job done
Mac Tools Racing 1991 (MB1100 bottom, MB1110 top MB1160 side)
I also use a Craftsman Professional Garage cabinet to hold all of my cased tools and manuals
We have made a lot of Horse power together

You might be able to squeeze the 26in from harbor freight in there. Cant beat it for the money.

I'd just put a craftsman box in there. The road is going to beat anything you put in there so no reason to go real high end. I had a service body like that with a normal friction slide craftsman top and mid box in the side compartment. They have been in the truck since new in '08 and were doing fine when I left in '14.

Do the 26" HF boxes have individual drawer latches or just indents?

Just detents, the ones on mine are pretty stiff the drawers dont just open you have to open them.
You could also fill out some of your info section someone near you might have something cheap.

Yes, very nice boxes! Industrial class by design.

Haven't had any hands on experience with the masterforce, but I can say first hand the tool vaults are very nice
