You can never, I repeat, NEVER, have too many magnetic parts trays.

Except when you have all stainless fasteners.

Just what comes off the shelf at the store, I use them for drafting and laying out on some of the thinner stainless and aluminum steels I work on.

So it's just drafting instruments? Darn. I was hoping it was a slide rule or an addiator, or something nifty like that. That ``Mathematical Instruments'' label got my hopes up.

Sorry to disappoint, I don't own a Slide ruler. I am a pen and paper man myself. I do not draft professionally so the basics do me fine.

Plus being dyslectic all those little numbers would be a pain in the ****!

I'm old enough to have actually learned how to use a slide rule. Since that was right when the first pocket scientific calculators were coming out...I never much saw the point.

Wow, you are old :eek2:

Like when you got your kids school supply list and it said they need a calculator and you got them an abacus.

nelstomlinson,

There are not many people on this board who would know what an addiator is. I still have mine at work, in the original fake leather pouch and the original pen with the brass stylus on the end to run the numbers up and down in the tracks. I wore several of them out over the years until the old HP 11C came out and I retired it. Now almost all of us use Jobber 5 calculators and computers

Awesome, I can relate to the necessity of needing to keep equipment running, and minimizing downtime. Time is money. Where did you get those plier racks? Are they dish racks?

Cool, thanks:thumbup: Also I hear you on the 24/7/365 deal. Haven't had a real day off in months. 12hr days are the norm. during harvest those hours get ridiculous. I work for my family in the LI wine business. No time for chasing down tools, or mobile service techs majority of the time. Plus once you have a sufficient tool collection, a LOT of money can be saved not having to pay $120/hr field labor rates to the mobile service guys, not knocking them - as I'm fast becoming one myself out of neccesity.

Paumonok,

What is the definition of a sufficient tool collection? I am not sure it is achievable! I think it is an obsession!:headscrat

Hahaha, I meant sufficient, that is up until you don't have the right tools/equipment for the job, then its time to bust out the wallet and buy some new stuff, or depending on the cost call the service guys. I'll go the route of investing innew tools and equip whenever I can afford it, and know that job will need to likely be performed again in the future. And who doesn't like buying tools.:lol_hitti

It is definately an obsession, but an enjoyable one.

It is amazing. No matter how much you have, you always need that one more thing off of the tool truck! Its like a kid in the candy shop, but with a couple of more zeros when you get to the register.

rgates: I am curious, why not you just get two KRL1201 to make it look match instead three different models on top chests??

I am impressive with your tools collection as you still use it at no matter what a job it need to be done...

It is 2 boxes on top not three. I already had the 1203 as a spare. Adding the 1251 was the most sensible thing to do.

Nice toolsets you guys have.
A lot of Snap on & Mac, very nice indeed, and probably quite expensive.
Most sets dwarf my small toolcart (But being in Europe and not driving an american car I don't need an extra SAE toolset :lol_hitti
:)
gereedschapskar.jpg
It's a Kraftwerk set (probably not known in the US). Probably all made in Taiwan :headscrat
The cart and drawers are pretty OK though.
Snap on and Mac tools are very expensive here in Europe, and pretty hard to obtain.
Here we have Gedore Hazet and Facom as major brands for professionals :)

No, but they have a nice sorting of tools (i like the red/black inlay toolmodules).

I bought my cart at http://www.rustbuster.nl/Kraftwerk_set/Rustbusterkar.htm
I liked the fact that this cart has 8 drawers. Most carts are 7 drawer (5 low for modules and 2 for big or special tools) or 11 drawer (10 for modules, 1 for big tools). In this cart you have 1 extra drawer for special tools compared to the 7 drawer carts :).
I also like the feel of chrome tools (like snap on) more than the feel of matte tools (like Hazet); easier to clean too. The spanners / wrenches in this kraftwerk set are not as slender as say a hazet wrench though. So probably a bit heavier too.
But that's somehow always the dilemma in choosing a toolset: do I take a complete cart/set from one brand (same tool styling, nice modules, often good packet deals), or do I buy a cart, and individual tools from your favorite brands for that tool, and make your inlays or use generic storage inlays.
The last takes a lot of time, is sometimes pretty expensive, and some inlay's will be hard to get or will have different styling.
Buying a complete set on the other hand will almost always include tools you just don't need but are still included in the set.
