First post here. Have been lurking, checking out all the awesome setups you all post. Here's my current box. Not a great pic. Had it for almost 6 years now. Decided to trade up a little. Gloss black with Atomic green trim 68" Epiq with stainless powertop coming Friday.

I'll post two of mine (since I seem to have smaller ones all over) this is my main box. It's a Snap On that I've had since around 1990 or so. It resides in my shed in the back yard.

Nice KR637/657 are those full drawer side cabinets?

Is that a Montezuma? or has someone else started making that style?

If one must have a top box, I REALLY like this type as it keeps all the commonly used stuff up front and handy without dealing with drawers, and is even more convenient than a pegboard. More compact too.

Montezuma , but here in the Y-uk its sold under the name on sealey. And they have discontinued selling them.

I just picked up this box today. I like it so far.

Every time I see them, I can't help but worry about walking by and breaking off a USB cord in the front port.

Haven't posted mine in quite a while. It changed a little bit.

My first snap on box. Seller was asking $650, I offered $415 and just picked it up. Needs a good cleaning and sticker removal but overall am very happy. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1455227032.794192.jpg

Tech89, that is sweet box, I love the layout, its very organized. But that is a weird format for posting pictures. Why did you post them all in a horizontal row rather than vertical like everyone else? kind of screws up the formatting for this page

Nice box! Curious where you got the trays for your punches/chisels?
Thank you.
Ernst Manufacturing. All of my trays are from them. Summit had the best pricing when I bought them. They're pretty nice. Had them for a few years.

Shucks, I haven't seen a 70's large SO box in years. Thought for sure they had that chrome trim on the corners.

Just for documentations sake. Just about killed myself getting them moved out from the wall enough to slide the phone back there.

Yea, I just saw the craigs list ad for your box. Did you see that on the Craig's list thread? Good job!

I actually came across it while just browsing in general. I wasn't even looking to be honest which is why I offered what I did because if he had said no, I was ok with walking away.

You are thinking of the very similar looking KR555/550/290, friction slide version with the black background badge. Those were 70s to early 80s boxes. The 655/650/290 and 1 came out in the mid 80s with ball bearings to update them. Very heavy boxes.

You're right, very heavy boxes. Not sure why but it seems SO when to a light gauge steel when they began making all ball bearing slides. Must just be a sign of the times...

I think one of the reasons people THINK that is due to when they switched over to ball bearings they removed most of the welded in drawer dividers which allowed the drawers to flex more. The 655 has no dividers and is a tank of a box at ~350 lbs. The 555 was probably their best built friction slide box, but of course had dividers welded in the drawers.
