Got that from sears. I think yoga mat would work the same for much lower cost.

I just bought a camping pad from Walmart for $7 it's the foam pad you lay under your sleeping bag. I think it was 22 or 24" x 72" and its blue. I shadowed the wrench drawers in my new to me matco box at work.uploadfromtaptalk1462931699061.jpg

With the thin black drawer liner still underneath it really stands out when a wrench is missing. It's cheap enough to redo if I ever replace the craftsman wrenchs down the road, but I've been using them since I started fixing cars in 1999 and they've not let me down yet!

Really easy to cut out with an xacto knife.

Perfecto

My tool collection has grown significantly since these pictures were taken and I need to redo my setup. I'm going the sleeping mat route for sure

You'll want to stretch it out and weigh it down for a day or so before use. I stuck mine under the rubber bed mat in my truck. Between the weight of the rubber mat plus the heat from the sun it straightened right out.

This is my current work box from Sidchrome. It's a good combo but I've run out of room in it having to stack tools ontop of tools. Almost all Snap-On/Bluepoint/CAT.

I'll be replacing it at tax time with a 42" Maxim roll cab.

pm1B87ovj

I own the Maxim 42 in black. Rate it highly, been using it for four years without a problem. I have the thing loaded to the hill and it moves around just fine. Also never had any problems with draws or lock. IMO best quality you can buy for the price.

[Just a black friday deal 46 inch husky here, slowly realizing it's going to be too small for college and it isn't strong enough for a top box.

Very jealous of that box but i guess i will just have to live with the 84" triple cab epic series with workcenter/hutch that i just ordered today in black with the blue anodized trim. Couldnt say no to the deal i got through the Snap-on rock'n roll toolbox truck.

A couple pics of my main box .... a 40" Craftsman Griplatch with full-width, single-drawer, intermediate section and eight drawer top chest. Plus, miscellaneous add-on items such as folding side self, can rack, glove-box holder, small side tray, and paper towel holder.

It's quite modest compared to many of the pro boxes in this thread, but I've been using it for about five years now and it has given good service for a low-to-mid priced tool chest. Fortunately, it was built before Cman tool chests got as chintzy as they now seem to be.

However, I do envy the tool chests with the deeper (front to rear) drawers as the current 18 in. sometimes seems rather small. Drawers 24 in. deep (front to rear) would be awesome!!

A couple of representative drawer pics:

1/2" drive sockets and ratchets (left and right sides of the full-width intermediate chest drawer)

How easy was it to get the extra drawers to replace the deep narrow drawer?

It was quite easy ... much easier than I expected; however, that was several years ago. Who knows if the same would hold true now. I documented the drawer change-out in the thread referenced immediately below titled "Craftsman Tool Chest Drawer Modification".

I'm very happy with the mod!!

Will do but that will be like 6-8 weeks till it gets built and shipped to me. Until then here is a pic of my current box that I'm trading in on the new one... Nothing wrong with it, just not entirely what I want.

Wanted the 84 with power drawer. Like alot but the shop I'm in now isn't toolbox friendly so had to go with a 68.

Being a student and having to move my tools back and forth to between work and school I just keep a cart with the "essentials" the other stuff is at home. Well now my "essentials" require a lot more room. Hahaha. I'm ready to graduate so I can move into my box I have at home!

Good on ya man. First class Dad right there. Your son is lucky to have you.

I'll be doing similar stuff with my kids as well.
Thx bud. I'm so glad we took on the project. It's been great.

Appreciate the kind words.

I have the current version of your box and nothing has changed. I added drawers to mine.

Almost done! We replaced ALL of the sheet metal and fabricated a sweet winch mount for it.

After my 2 post lift arrives we will swap out the springs on all corners and the steering box. Then is just scuff and shoot. Exciting!

Today I swapped big bottom drawer out for 2 smaller ones. I call it the KRSC37. I wanted to isolate the stuff floating around my impacts so that worked out well. Doing everything I can to make the 43 cart last a little longer. I will post drawer update pictures next week; I can't fit much more.

Got the cover for it last week. Too bad it's not made out of Kevlar. Too many inconsiderate pricks roaming in it's vicinity. By the way, how do I post large hi-resolution pictures instead of these crappy links I've been posting? Doesn't do my box any justice...

Thanks man. The box by itself is $6290, as you know, but the Snap-on dealer let me have it for free. I rolled the whole package, brand new, off his truck for $5290+ tax. I would say I got a good deal. Free stainless top + $1000 instant discount = a deal I couldn't refuse. The top is almost $1000 by itself.

Heck yeah man that is an awesome deal, my snap on guy gave me a sweet deal on mine, gave me 2500 for my classic 78 and gave me 2300 off the new box, so I definitely couldn't pass it up, I almost have it full of tools now lol

If you ditch those trays that snappy sockets come in and went to Hansen trays or rails you clear a lot of space
