Ill repost again for the love of TDT

Yes, i use my tools. Yes, i work out of this box everyday. No, not every single socket gets used from every set, but they look badass in sets dont they? I am a nut with my tools, i keep them clean, dont abuse them and dont lend them out. Just a disclosure for anyone who wanted to point out another box of unused tools.

TDT. I'll post the whole box once I get a phone with a better camera.... This 4s camera doesn't take the best of photos any more.

0febf6bc56bbaf1e7cf8e8033ac1845d.jpg

For the on going conversation, I clean my tools after every job. Gives me a chance to reset and make sure everything that went out is back in. Do I spit shine everything, no. But I hate grease and grit following me around. One shop rag with some brake clean and a quick wipe. My soft grip handles don't look like new anymore, but they are clean enough.

As a side note, does anyone have any tips/tricks to keep your main drawer clean? I work a lot off the top of my box, and find grit and gunk eventually builds up inside the drawers, whether that be transfer off of my gloves or debris that falls in. I shop vac around my tools every once and a while, and have often thought of trying that sticky bubbly no slip stuff. I wonder if that would hide the grit a bit better?

Ok, I've waded through all 510 pages over the course of a couple months. I feel like I've earned the right to post my garage setup now.

8 or 10 months ago, was driving by a roadside flea market and noticed a big red toolbox. Turns out the guy had (3) KRA4810's. He wanted $250 each or $450 for all. Bought them all and turned (2) of them around for the full $450 back.

Then I caught the Husky box on Black Friday sale for $199, found a damaged one, and talked a manager down another $75.

So, I'm into both boxes for a total of $125. They were a nice upgrade from my 15 year old CM bottom of the line friction slide stack and 5 drawer workbench. Now I just need to get new slides for the hammer drawer so the detents work, and build a new bench.

I think I'm going to do some reorganizing based on things I've learned on this thread. I've got the material to build some pliers racks, I'll build or buy some wrench racks, the long stuff will go to the top till, the sockets will go to the long drawer on the Husky, the ratchets will get moved somewhere close to the sockets, the stuff currently in the top till will get moved into the larger drawers of the top chest, the hammers need to stand up... it never ends...

I've also got several hand carry boxes. The one with the Edelbrock sticker was a gift from a girlfriend almost 20 years ago when I was moving 1000 miles away from her, and I've used it since then. I married her 15 years ago, and we're raising 3 kids together.

The Kennedy was a gift from a widow lady at church when I helped her clean out her late husband's workshop when she had to sell the home they' raised their family in. It's a "go-box" of sorts for me, now.

The Craftsman was an impulse buy, it stores duplicates that will be the start of my kids' tool collections. I'll give one of them the CM and the other 2 will get KRA30a's I picked up on CL recently.

The little red tombstone is a Proto project that my dad found in a dumpster and asked me to clean up for him. The pink plastic isn't mine, I swear...

I tipped my lower Thursday hence the damage. Hoping to be able to fix her next week if the parts show up. New top showed up Friday and I put it on.

What brand are the really thin wrenches? Do you use them much? How have they held up? Thanks in Advance...

They are Facom metric and Craftsman fractional in both boxes. I use them occasionally, but it beats grinding down a regular wrench to fit. They hold up fine since most jobs that require a thin wrench don't require a lot of torque, but they're not as strong as a regular open end wrench.

I think you may well be competing for "Best toolbox on the forum"
Friggin awesome set up

He is getting closer....now that he added the other side cab he still needs 84" to catch up. I only have 1 more payment on my daughters box so the Snappy guy is trying to get me to add 2 more side cabs to mine. Do I need them no, do I want them yes.

hey if you switched to hanson socket trays you could save a bunch of your wasted space in your top drawer. makes it much easier later on

Thought about it but as of right now the snap on trays work. I have a lot of space still in the box bc my new job has me moving around the shop rather than sticking to one bay so I had to get a big cart.

Thanks, I haven't been on here in a while and your box caught my eye. I agree going without the overhead storage because it would require a step stool of some kind to deal with and where would I put the TV and other items I already have up there.

Been lurking for a little while now and man all of you make me jealous and want to up my game. I will be taking some of your ideas and incorporating them into my little garage as I go.

Here is my little setup for now. I'm slowly adding to my collection and will be adding another bottom cabinet soon for some of my current overflow. I'll post up some drawer pictures soon.

There is a good possibility you might be the first to post this combo on here and it looks really good. I at least haven't seen anyone else do this. Very cool how the upright trim and drawer widths all match up and you still have a usable space on the end of the 72". [emoji106]
