It's just a tiny bit early, but I'll kick off a new Top Drawer Tuesday, what with all the talk about drawer weight, but nobody using a scale...

Here is my top drawer a 4 inch from a KRA4107. It's about 36x18 inches. I figured everybody exaggerates, this was maybe 50 lbs tops. Nope, including the drawer, 84 lbs. Still within the 100 lbs per slide on the KRAs.

How do you like the DeWalt toolbox? I thought about getting one at one time.

Our toolboxes on the aviation side of the USMC had that clear formed rubbery substance in it.. It gets nasty if it gets warm and also will leave an oily trace in your tools.. Don't get any solvents or fuel on it--it'll gum up and become a real mess!
We later got the black foam which was glued into the box drawers--also a pain in the @$$ when you added a new tool or altered the storage arrangements..

Heres all of the home boxes (again, things were moved around, mind you this is still a work in progress)

I haven't seen that brand before, is it one of the "classics"? Do you know what year was that toolbox made?

MBC used to make tool boxes for SO before they tooled up for it. Other companies as well. Arguably some of the best boxes made in that era were made by MBC.

What year would that MBC toolbox have been made then? It looks like it is in good shape, but the writing on the logo is clearly dated.

After nearly a year of posting pictures in the "show your new tool arrivals" thread, I thought I would post some pictures of my toolbox.

Four years ago I paid for son #1 to go to tech school to become ASE certified, and paid for his new Matco toolbox and all of the new Matco tools in it. One year ago son #2 left home and moved across country, and wanted a good tool set to take with him. I gave him my Husky 40" toolbox and all of my tools, mostly Husky, CM, & HF. That left me in a position to replace my tools.

What followed was a complete garage restoration. I poured cement for a Tuff Shed in the back yard and along the side of the garage for additional parking. I built a 10x16 Tuff Shed in my back yard, and filled it with less used items in the garage. I hauled four pickup loads of junk from the garage to either the dump, or a second hand charity store. Then I repainted the garage, installed new doors, new lighting, new heating, installed all new cabinets and a bench, and built new shelving along one wall. The final phase of the project is this toolbox, and the tools in it. If these tools look new, they are. I'm not a mechanic, just a guy that works on his own vehicles and his own home, and I enjoy desert racing and keep the race machines maintained.

There should be a date stamp on the back side lower corner if I remember correctly. Im guessing mine was made in August of 1970.

Here is a couple crappy pics of my MBC box from about 5 years ago. Still have it, moved around a bit in the garage and not stacked with random bs anymore.

Here is mine. It's a work in progress. I will post a few drawer pictures, but posted them all over on my build thread. Some drawers are decently organized, but others are a wreck.

Hey, G-Ram, what make is that red toolbox on top of your Proto? I have one that looks like it that I am restoring but not sure of the make. It used to be my dad's. Thanks

No, I prefer TRW taps and dies, but I had to have a odd pitch tap for something I was doing on a Sunday so I picked up the HF set because they were open that day. Most of the taps in the set have been thrown away and replaced with TRW taps. I would say that the HF stuff is ok if you use cutting fluid and don't push them, but you can do a lot better for sure.
