Just throwing this out there, since this is the toolbox thread. Has anyone tried to swap drawers around in the 56 / 72" harbor freight toolboxes yet? (similar to the drawer swapping on the 44") I haven't checked yet, but am interested in adding a couple shorter drawers instead of the deep ones.

I'll update on my findings when I get to my toolbox in the next few days

I am new to the forum and I have been slowly working on my Garage last month. During the move I bought the Husky 5 drawer with SS top used. Today I found a Craftsman two piece chest. No keys but the drawers work well it it was well taken care of. Bought it off a retired guy who bought it used years ago.

I got this set for $110 and he threw in a almost new red tool cart. Not sure who made it but I will get pictures tomorrow. All in at $130

You can take the number stamped on the locks and order new keys. I got mine from Sears parts direct but heard you can get them cheaper on ebay

I'm partial to both. I like the HF material for drawers with items that tend to move around. They keep my wrench racks stationary.

I really like the Husky material for drawers with tools that tend to get greasy/dirty. They wipe clean much easier. I've got a mix of both in my boxes and they work well for each intended purpose.

Well, after a little bit of a wait and my wife telling me to buy it now or I probably never will, I dropped the money on a HF 44" base (the top will come a little while later) I did have to make a return on the first one bc of damage to the top and decided it was best to check the second at the store and it was fine. I also bought the glove holder while I was there for the convenience of knowing where they are when I need them. No to move everything from the smaller box to the bigger one and start fillin it up. c9d074f132bd78a58c5ee171080c7340.jpg

That a 537 top and 557 bottom? Looked at one similar here but couldn't get an answer on it before I just went ahead and bought the HF box. Great looking box and that cover looks to be in great shape along with the rest of the box.

Very nice box you got going there and makes it extra special it was your grand fathers. Sure he would be happy it is being used and taken care of.

Just recently started putting tools into these boxes and fueling my new found tool addiction. The top used to be in the work truck but the boss upgraded it to a snap on box when we switched trucks. I got the lower box as a gift this Christmas, they got it on black Friday at 200(?) and its been good so far, haven't done much with the box or half the tools in it yet as its winter and I'm afraid of the cold

I saw them on sale and was going to try and get one, but the sale ended before I got the chance. Looked like a steal at $200. If it goes on sale again I'm gonna buy it and have it as one to expand to later on or give as a gift to my brother? Regardless, they looked like a solid option for the price. And I think we've both found a new tool addiction as I'm looking into stocking mine with complete sets of tools so I always have what I need unless it's a truly rare size or specialty bolt etc.

Very beautiful box, and tools. I have my grandfather's box tool box as well. I wish it was in that good of shape. Enjoy it, put it to work.

Found this little guy in the corner of an estate sale and grabbed it for $50. I'm guessing 60's era Proto? Still has the keys! Needs a cleaning and has some light rust in spots but it was exceptionally well cared for.

Nice, I see you debadged it, looks good. I have an 56" extreme toolbox and I have been contemplating removing the big emblem across the lower chest drawer.

This box did not come with the large logo. It did come with two small ones that didn't get put on until after this picture.

Not sure, I can check model numbers next time I am in the garage. Not sure if the original stickers are still on it or not. Box is in fantastic shape, could use a good wipe down but other than that, everything is in great working order.
