Thanks for the pics

Biggest problem I have using them as a road box is all the little stuff, picks, sharpies, locktite, bit sockets and all the little **** doesn't have good spots. I ended up getting one of those behind the wheel well drawer boxes I'm going to mount. I was going to fan a drawer to sit under the 250 but lost interest and bought something instead.

I've gotta ask... Does that Montezuma fit a full set of sockets? SAE, Metric in all 3 sizes, shallow and deep, 6 and 12 point and impact?
That's my biggest concern. If it does I would be very interested. If not, it wouldn't really be helpful as I would still need to take up drawer space.
Thanks for your answers.

Bruno, they have several configs and sizes, but one of the larger (36" wide) is setup for both metric and SAE; and you can see a complete inventory of what that one holds on strictly toolboxes, site here:

http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/montezuma-toolbox/36-montezuma-tool-boxes-crossover-tool-chest.html

If you look there are other layouts and widths. So hard to imagine not having one that would do the job. Is it perfect? No., Will you still need more storage? I would... BUT, this one in particular would keep my other tool drawers closed 98% of the time...

What it excels at is keeping the most commonly used tools up front and available without fiddling with drawers.

Hmm, lets see if this works: OK not, too bad; wow, 198 pegs for sockets...:

# TYPE NUMBER DESCRIPTION
1 Wrenches 17 pegs S.A.E. combination wrenches
2 Wrenches 22 pegs Meteric combination wrenches
3 Sockets 20 pegs 1/2" deep S.A.E. sockets
4 Sockets 20 pegs 1/2" deep Metric sockets
5 Sockets 15 pegs 3/8" deep Metric sockets
6 Sockets 13 pegs 3/8" deep S.A.E. sockets
7 Sockets 15 pegs 3/8" regular Metric sockets
8 Sockets 13 pegs 3/8" regular S.A.E. sockets
9 Sockets 20 pegs 1/2" regular Metric sockets
10 Sockets 18 pegs 1/2" regular S.A.E. sockets
11 Sockets 32 pegs 1/4" regular & deep Metric sockets

13 Ratchets 21 slots Rachet drives & extensions
14 Screwdrivers 21 slots Screwdrivers

If the Impacts are a deal breaker in the racks, you could probably use someone else's rack(s) in the "under the socket tray" space (15) ...

Thanks Outlawmws, that 36 would probably be perfect. I'm definitely going to look into it.

Love the box!!! I want to get that for my next box, with a hutch, and locker!

Currently have a KRL722 with a bluepoint roll cart.
This is the only picture I have of them together, from over a year ago.

I’m about to make a 1x1 frame hutch, and locker for it.

Thanks its my dream box and I got a good deal on it. Only thing I wish was different was that it had the black drawer trim like yours has but I can always get that at some other time.

That top looks awesome and the car in the back looks just like the one I used to have. I really miss that car but I needed something that fit a car seat in the back.

How difficult was the wood to cut?

standard circular saw. was 72" long by 36" wide. box was 72-1/2 x 30. so the 1/4" leftover over on each side matches the snap ons for the use of hang on cabinets and lockers. I used a simple guide on the saw and went to town. going to use the 6" piece leftover, for a backsplash. (after thought)

AB, is it maple or something else?

i wish. it is birch. it won't see a ton of heavy use being on the box. it was also a test to see if that birch holds up for the 12' wall of vidmar cabinets I'm doing.

Seem Rock maple butcher block tops in 6 and 12' sections are through the roof. the snappy maple is 780.... the snappy stainless top is 1350 with particle board underneath :(

Going to do some vinyl on the pulls but glad to get rid of those ugly label holders.

I think I posted pics of this set several years ago, but it has had a few mods since then so I'll stick up the photos of the current configuration:

I see a fair number of boxes with draw labels. Whats the general consensus as to why this is done.

I don't know many wrench turners (pro and non) that can't tell you exactly where something is in their box.

Is this for others help that use your box?

My recently acquired 46 inch Masterforce from Menards. After looking at them since the 24 inch deep version was released late last year, this size popped up on sale during a 11% rebate 2 weeks ago and I could not resist.

When you get older, you get more tools, a bigger box and cars that don't need work as often. So you don't remember where the tools are in your new box. I'll admit to having (hopefully temporary) labels on about half of the drawers in my box.

I make the labels with a label maker and self-adhesive tape. Then the labels are attached to magnetic strips so the labels can be rearrangeed whenever I wish and where I wish. There are multiple reasons that I do this:

1) I constantly keep adding tools and sometimes need to rearrange the tools into different drawers.

2) I'm not a pro mechanic so I don't use the tools on a daily basis. And, yeah, with 26 drawers plus the top I sometimes loose track of where a specifc tool is.

3) I have farms in Ohio and Virginia so I do move back and forth a lot. This is my VA box and there is another toolbox in Ohio ... different number of drawers, different tools, different layout, etc. The box in OH also has the magnetic labels!!

4) When my sons come home to help out on projects, they have no clue where anything is.

Anyway, I find the labels helpful. Especially since they can be readily rearranged.
