Just finished a few small mods to a box I got last weekend, after a good cleaning I cut a wood insert, bolted my grinder and drill press to it, ran the wires through the box, installed a light switch for a future light I'll have on the press, and bolted a can holder to the side because it just kept slowly sliding down the box from the crappy paint the p.o. used and gets gooey when hot, I might repaint it black to match my other craftsman boxes, or I might load the sticker cannon and see where things landded4a3ad12c8aabce42d2ba6accefe16.jpga87feda30f594f705b33fb5210a0fa06.jpgb0cf0366dc7cea026a42d705dcfa2f4a.jpg2f2f137e4c9703593337a22e3c83379d.jpg

Nice job PS, but I bet that's a top heavy sumbitch...woof. :p

Who's the manufacturer of that DP, I've never seen a bench top model like it? I can't even begin to tell you how handy one of those would be for myself. I don't need another drillpress but I'd make room for that baby in a heartbeat. :)

It looks like a slightly older (and probably differently named) one of these.

Looks great!

Is the wood top laminated?

Did you order through a local distributor or have it shipped from elsewhere?

Thanks!

The top is called multiplex, i guess plywood of some kind with some sealer on it, very Nice finish.
I had it custom made for me, choosing drawers, color, top plate and Lock type. It cost me a total of 1100$ at my door, I think its a fair price considering i live in Norway.

I posted my box in the tool cart thread, but I made some changes and took new pictures. Thought I would post that update here.

This is my contribution to the community. Thanks for looking.

Not what I was expecting to see at all looking at the set up from the outside. Very nice set of tools.

Here is mine for now. I like to think i am pretty frugal so when i found this Matco 4s for $1000 i jumped on it. It was very dirty when i got it but it cleaned up ok. The Husky top box i picked up at my local Home depot with a scuff in the back for $230. The color is almost a match to the Matco. Now i just have to load it with tools.

After it was cleaned up.

This was it as it sat in the garage where i purchased it. Had a couple dead mice in the drawers to boot. Luckily it still had drawer liners in it. Rolled em up and tossed em out.

Getting rid of mine! Sick and tired of opening a drawer to find something.

Found these wooden boxes/cabinets for 60$ a peice and they are the perfect height for a workbench.

Drawing up an "A" Frame type tool rack to hold pliers, screwdrivers, and files. Something like the Adam Savage mobile rack he built, shown on Tested.

Sockets will go in a mobile tool cart, wrench set stays in the truck anyways.

I'll still have a few top boxes for odds and ends type stuff. f802da583a700b3f66c07d31a671269b.jpg06edd44aab3ec421a1522ac385120e12.jpg

Thanks Mike, you're right it looks very similar but the one posted sure looks to be built much better. Hard to say off a pic though. Thanks for posting that up

I was in that store that day, and noticed that drill press with the odd construction. Odd, yet smartly simple.

Well, I think I'm in love with that setup. Saving the PN and might be investing in one if I go solo down the line.

I posted my box in the tool cart thread, but I made some changes and took new pictures. Thought I would post that update here.

This is my contribution to the community. Thanks for looking.

Real nice, simple, usable set-up you got there

They are both nice colors.
I had a Royal Blue Snap On KRA triple bank.
But after seeing the Electric Orange and a KRL1033 & KRL1203 in Orange that was the setup for me. It just took me a little to get the Orange KRL1203:)

or two green doubles :wtf:

They are out there, you just have to keep looking and be patient. And have the money when you see one you want. And be willing to drive to pick it up.

yup... drove 4 hours for this one. couldn't pass up the deal. traded for it and I have about 700 bucks in it not counting the 3.5 hours each way.. its not the wide drawer three bank setup i'd prefer.... but... it works for what I have in it.

the sad part about this deal is it came about 2 weeks after I purchases a KRL1032 in cranberry for 5K off the truck new. I tried trading in my 1022/hutch/end cab/locker in on an 84 epic and my dealer couldn't make the numbers work. trading all my stuff in and paying 10K and not getting a locker was too rich for my blood. I went to my dealers storage unit to look at a green double bank repo for 4K... it had black trim and would have cost me about 1200 bucks to change over to brushed trim to match mine... made me a year end special on the cranberry 1032. the 1032 is like your 1033 with the full length top drawers, but the left side skinny drawers and center drawers are merged together for a 50" wide bank of drawers.

I bought it out of price and function... not color choice. now, I wish one of my green 1022's was the 1032. just not willing to cough up the 12,500 it would take to get one in a different color :(

as you can see, its a three bank width, just appears to be a double bank due to the drawer configuration. my 500 dollar right side green locker and the three bank pushed the wall of boxes too far out blocking 18" of my back garage door. so now the cranberry is on another wall holding parts and supplies. an expensive vidmar cabinet basically.

Been waiting on this since March. It is the rare TRACTOR GREEN color aka John Deere Green. Matches perfectly. It has the titanium trim and stainless steel top. New model roll cart, KRSC242. Comes with one painted side panel, the power strip with USB, cord wrap, and 1 speedrawer. I had an additional speedrawer added a d one additional side panel.

What I like better about Matco is the corner trim from the hutch lines up with the corner trim from the box.

Snap-on has their stainless steel top sandwiched in between.

I can definitely see what you're saying. That being said I prefer Snap-on's stainless top design. The Matco stainless top looks "home made"/too thin to me. I also don't like the shape of the Matco corner trim. To each their own
